Apparently getting your food in a bowl, plate or a to go box is not the norm. I ordered food from here & was going to dine in, my food was thrown on a tray without any paper on top of the tray. Happy to find this place! The burrito was delicious - generous portions for sure! The chicken was seasoned well. There were options for all in our large group. Seating was a little tight during busy lunch but that's a good sign in my opinion. I will be back next time I'm in the area. read more

Visiting our daughter during her workday, this was the unanimous lunch recommendation from both her & her colleagues. We were instructed to look for the sugar skulls, and that it looked modest from the outside. And it is, but as you walk in, you can see the care, pride & flair of this restaurant. You walk up and order at the counter, serve yourself drinks. We ordered the veggie burritos and chips/ salsa. Staff are friendly and helpful- and so are the regulars, who started flowing in throughout our entire meal. The menu choices should have something to please everyone, and it all looks good with generous portions. The two of us split an entree and we were pleasantly full, leaving an entire burrito untouched (it was just as good the following day!) The chips are well above your standard & the salsa very flavorful. I am a true salsa snob & this one checked all the boxes with the right mix of spices and heat. Let's go back to the veggie burrito, packed full of super fresh zucchini, summer squash, red peppers,onions, black beans. Each bite was different. A burrito this big- with no rice? Pinch me. Forgive the less than gorgeous photo- only thought to take a picture after we polished off one of the burritos- but you can see the portion size. We stopped in after finding this place on Yelp. No menu today (they are working on updating it), but my husband and I both got taco salads and we got our kids a chicken quesadilla. Was good food and a good value. But they no longer have a menu hanging in the Etowah restaurant. Got a sprite in which did not have any syrup. It tasted like Alka-Seltzer. Was not very happy. read more

The food is not consistent there isn't a menu, you never know what you'll be charged and when they ring you up it's on an iPad so you can't see anything. And you definitely do not get a receipt. The restaurant itself seems clean enough we have never eaten there we always take it home. read more

We stopped here on a whim for dinner because it was near the Drive-in theater. Several of the other restaurants on yelp were closed - thankfully! It's a chipotle-type set up, but better. I ordered the veggie burrito bowl, and I knew this place was special when they threw what had to be at least a pound of chopped zucchini, yellow squash, spinach and onions on the flat top grill. YUM! Food is great here all around. It's sort of set up like a Chipotle with a "build your own whatever" bar. Although I haven't been to Chipotle in like 10+ years the food here is at least as good at the food there _used_ to be. There's one in Athens and one in Etowah and they are both just as good. Awesome! I would have never even noticed this little gem if someone didn't tell me about it. You walk up to the counter and pick your super fresh ingredients, they make everything fresh to order right in front of you. They grill the shrimp to order and it is absolutely delicious! I had a burrito bowl with shrimp and chicken and you pick what you want in it and they make it right in front of you. My sister had a regular burrito, steak and shrimp, it was huge! Mom had the El Pedrino, shrimp and chicken with squash, onions, peppers served with flour tortillas on the side, she said it was amazing! Fresh ingredients, chicken, shrimp, steak, rice, beans, refried beans, guacamole, different salsas, variety of peppers, onions, cheese, queso, tomatoes, pico de gallo, sour cream, cilantro, cucumbers, I'm sure I am probably missing some, but there is a great variety. Who'd a thunk I'd find the best burrito in east Tennessee in the middle of no where, not this guy! I did find just that as was headed to Atlanta, I of course used the trusty YELP app with the simple search of "burrito" it kindly guided me to Pepos. Now, it's easy to miss but simply make a uturn and head right back because you will be glad you did. We were greeted with smiles and high engery, that energy that a proud chef has when hes about to serve up some grub that he knows you're gonna love....you'll feel it too. I promise, these guys and gals are living what they are doing and rightly so, its authentic, delicious and huge portions to boot. You pick between burrito, nachos, taco, bowl etc. Then work your way down the line of meats and toppings, the finished product is art for your taste buds. I chose burrito, carne asada, black beans, queso, salsa fresca and rice with a side of salsa Verde and some chips with a jaritos to wash it all down. I sat down all smiles and if I closed my eyes I'd swear i wasnt in east TN but way down south. That wasnt rain I hear pouring down it was waves. The decor is vibrant, the food is excellent, the people are proud. Tennessee continues to surprise me with epic food in far off places. Dont sleep on pepos it worth the drive! read more

Pepo's burrito bar has been open for two months. It's a cute little chipotle-style restaurant. The burrito was good. But the pico de gallo was sooo spicy. I mentioned to the employees that they should warn customers. The cook told them he put 15 serrano peppers in the batch. I would try this place again. read more

Pepos is pretty decent for Etowah. Stopped by on my way back from Atlanta. The rice is the best thing about it. The steak was a good cut of meat, but lacked enough spice for me. The queso was extremely average (no taste) ; I like a bit of chorizo, cumin, jalapeños, and cilantro in my queso. The burritos were not quite to my go-to for burritos (Freebirds in Texas) - but that's about the best you can get around here. read more

Little joint attached to a check into cash in Etowah opened up recently & we've heard great things. We stopped in for lunch to-go & had to try the famous giant burritos everyone's talking about. I am a huge fan of Chipotle, Dos Bros & the like so I went with my usual of chicken (got shredded, wish I'd gotten grilled), rice, black beans, Pico, cheese, sour cream, & guac on the side. Guacamole is chunky but definitely a good ratio of avocado to veggies. Favorite part of my meal! They have about 5 house made salsas but when I asked the girl what the options were she gave me the mild. (Guess she didn't hear me) I wish they had them written out with the spice levels for reference. I would've preferred it on the side as well but she didn't give me the chance. I felt like she needed more practice in rolling these giant burritos bc mine was oozing juices & ripping. Somehow I ended up with a drink but don't remember it being offered. The hubby did better than I had bc I am currently finishing off his grilled chicken, & chorizo burrito. He went a little simpler with beans, rice, white cheese, shredded cheese, jalapeños, & green habenero salsa. He also had a different burrito maker & she knew what she was doing. We both got chips & salsa. I got mild, it has a good flavor but missing a little something, maybe salt. He got the red habenero & didn't think it had much flavor but definitely had the heat. Overall good lunch, but I didn't care for the shredded chicken. Our total was about $20 & they had a lunch menu but I'm not sure if what we got was on it. They didn't ask us about the size of burrito, so I can only assume it's 12" across the board. Super fresh, & fast! read more

if i could give this restaurant six stars, i would! we have been here twice on vacation, once last year and again today for labor day weekend. we couldn't stop talking about it the first time we went and honestly somewhat chose the location because we were so excited to come eat here again. the burritos are ginormous and the food is fresh and delicious. the restaurant itself is cute and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. we will definitely be coming back as soon as we can and will continue to recommend to everyone! read more
