We wished we had a server like her wherever we went! Yes, she is that good! We ordered hamburgers with pork rinds. DH's hamburger was a barbecue burger, but we ordered it without a bun and mine was bacon and cheese without a bun. The pork rinds were fresh and delicious!! The burgers were moist and cooked perfectly! Sorry, we were hungry, and we forgot to take pictures of the menu...

I recently stopped by Iron Works Grille with some friends before a scenic drive on the adjacent…read moreCherohala Skyway and had a really good experience. I had stopped in to Iron Works Grille for lunch on my last trip to the area in 2019, and my positive experience at the time encouraged me to make it a stop on this recent trip with friends. There has been a recent change in ownership, but the new owners seem to have maintained the previous regime's solid execution of casual tavern cuisine while adding some innovative options to the menu--which focuses on casual dishes including smashburgers, sandwiches, salads, tavern appetizers, and simple platters featuring local specialties. We sat in the open seating area located underneath the main dining room. It offers an excellent view of the Tellico River, which runs behind the restaurant, though I was mildly spooked by the multiple signs along the river's edge warning visitors about snakes. I spent much of the meal checking under the table for unwanted guests. Thankfully, the food at Iron Works Grille was tasty enough to distract me from my reptile anxiety. We started with a dozen of the "Almost Famous" Bacon-Wrapped Fried Pickles ($18), an unexpected combination of two of my favorite savory flavors, and the Smashed Brussels ($12), served perfectly crispy and topped with a delicious balsamic drizzle and a dusting of parmesan cheese. I had the Tellico Trout Sandwich ($15), a generous, hand-breaded filet of fried trout served on a hoagie roll with pickles, lettuce, and house tartar sauce. My sandwich also came with my choice of side .. and I opted for the fried okra. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside while tender on the inside, and I thought it was excellent and paired well with the fried okra. My friends really enjoyed their sandwiches as well. The only minor downside was a small service quirk. I asked if I could get the trout in a wrap. Our server had to check with more experienced staff, who ultimately said no. It seemed a bit odd for a flexible tavern, but the food itself was so good it didn't ruin the meal. Overall, it is a fantastic, scenic spot for a pre- or post-drive meal, and the new management is keeping the kitchen firing on all cylinders.

They literally have every fast food and chain dining experience on one block, but I didn't know that at the time but I'm tired of road trip Food so wanted to sit down for a good meal! Pulling into the parking lot and I was overwhelmed because it was huge and very crowded! We go to the desk and they tell us 25 minutes. This place was huge and very accommodating, they were getting people to their tables fast! We noticed two empty seats at the bar, so we opted to take them and had the pleasure of being served by Robert. He was attentive, made sure our waters were always full. He gave recommendations on his favorite dishes and was all around a great bartender! The guy working the other end of the bar was equally as professional. The ambience is a dark cool vibe, little trendy but people were dressed pretty casually! Answer the most important thing...The food! For an app, we got the beer, cheese fondue that came with apples, bread and pretzels. The beer cheese had a little bit of ooomph to it, which was refreshing because usually I'm not a big mustard person. The pretzel bites were incredible crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The apples were fresh all around the appetizer for 3 to 4 people so we took extra home. I ordered the 10 ounce sirloin cooked, medium with the web sweet potatoes and a side Caesar salad for a three dollar charge which ended up being a full-size salad! It was super fresh and gigantic for a side salad. The steak was cooked perfectly, in the middle with an insane sear. Their house, butter that they put on it truly elevated the flavor profile. I tried the sweet potatoes mashed and they were enjoyable, but I do not enjoy a sweet side with my food so I knew I was going to donate them to my husband and he said they were incredible, the flavor was definitely there just not my cup of tea, but I knew that from the beginning . He got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken! It had so much flavor and tastes incredible but yet melted in your mouth it was the most tender chicken I've ever had in my life, and the flavor was all there! Not even the slightest bit of any kind of dryness. One of the best bites of chicken I've ever had.! He ordered the bison meatloaf to go, and that comes with caramelized mashed potatoes and fried onion straws.... It smells incredible and I will update when we try it . * UPDATE: best meatloaf ever!!! Based on the quality/ experience on a very busy night- everything was phenomenal and I will return. Service 10/5 Food 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Value 5/5

I will say this: the service was good, and the server was very kind. As for the food, it's like what you'd make in your own kitchen, but without seasonings. Think Ore Ida crinkle cut fries and frozen burger patties and chicken tenders. Everything was cooked well enough, but it certainly wasn't anything special. The tables, dishes, and utensils appeared to be clean, but that was it. That building is nasty, and reeks of old cooking oil. The only reason we ate there was because we were starving. But hey, 2 stars because we left with full bellies and no one got sick.
