10/10 would recommend, great service and super quick! I got a key copied and I was in and out in a minute.

this was a very quick and easy key trip for copies. very cheap as well. highly recommend for copying keys!!!

They need to upload their hours for in store service. This is the second time I come by to get my keys copied to the unpleasant surprise of an empty store with the gates down. read more

Incredibly helpful locksmith! Got a bunch of keys remade and the owner was friendly and helped figure out the best solution.

If you want to be charged twice the price you should pay for a key to be made, and if you want to have someone look you straight in the eye and lie to you that $20 for one simple key is a fair price... then visit Metropolitan Locksmith. But if you want to avoid the grift and pay half the price for great service i suggest you go to Blaustein's hardware just around the corner. read more

Highly recommend as a place to get your keys copied! The guy was super friendly and made 3 copies for me in under a minute.

I just went and got three more copies and my experience was as expected. I was in an out and under five minutes and I had cash on me (there is a $45 minimum). Easy. Highly recommended! read more

Great place! I had to get my keys copied on a Sunday and this was the only place open around my neighborhood, and I'm so glad I found it! Great nice guy who owns the store as well. Shop small and support local businesses! read more

I came back to Metropolitan Locksmith hoping to get a key made in a hurry, and once again they came through--fast, friendly, and affordable. It's rare to find a place that's this consistent and reliable. The owner remembered me, which made the experience feel personal and easy. Can't recommend them enough! read more

Really nice guy; was on his way out as I walked in; very polite, helpful, and cut my keys for me in no time. The cute dog (Peeko?) didn't hurt either. Friendly and great service, he really helped me out. I will come back here the next time I need keys cut. Also cannot beat the price ;) read more

Metropolitan Locksmith - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - New York, New York

Metro wanted $250 just to come look at it(applied to cost of repair if repair needed) and if had to fix could be as much as $1,200. Called another locksmith came and fixed TWO locks for $125 total read more

I did not realize that their credit card minimum was $45 before arriving. I didn't need $45 worth of stuff, just two keys cut. Andrew, the lovely employee at this location. Said you know what, don't worry about it. Leave us a great review and I'll take care of you. So, here's to you Andrew. Another person helping another out in a minor bind. That's what I love so much about the people in this community. Always willing to extend a hand. Even if it may cost them a few dollars. Thank you!!!!! Will make sure my company keeps doing business with yours! read more

Amazing service! Fast and good price! The owner is a great guy and super responsive. 10$ for copies of 2 keys

Great prices and stay open til 7! And very quick service. Just keep a note they have a $45 minimum charge for credit cards, so bring cash!

Very nice people, cheap, and fast! Great service and a quick place to get a second key. Needed for a friend to stay at my apartment.

Walked in to copy a key and walked out in less than 60 seconds! Exceptionally fast and courteous -- would recommend to anyone!

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is ran by a con artist. The owner tried charging me $400 for opening my front door after using a dab of wd-40 and releasing the jam. He quoted me $210 the day before which I also find ridiculous. After I asked what the charge went up for, he told me it was because he attempted to fix the lock but that the lock is still not fixed. The invoice showed $125 for "fixing the lock". After I mentioned the invoice is wrong because it's not fixed (like he pointed out) he told the other guy to correct the invoice to say "temporary fix" which I pointed out he could not do. I told him I would pay the initial amount quoted and he said to pay whatever I want that he doesn't care anymore. So it's clear he can charge whatever he wants he just chooses to ruin peoples days. The guy writing the invoice told me I could pay without tax at the store or with tax at the home and so I walked back to the store where the owner again rudely told me I need to pay tax either way. To begin with, I didn't care about the tax I just wanted to be done dealing with this guy. If that doesn't convince you not to use their services I don't know what will. read more

Although it is a very small place but they seemed to have everything. It is a locksmith but they do have everything and even they had what I was looking for. Mostly dusted and old, except keys, but two workers in the store were willing to help me. I like local small shops. They give an attentive and customer first service. read more

Really quick key copies - and a pretty reasonable rate, especially considering the location. The guy behind the counter was very kind to the customer in line before me, feels like a real neighborhood store. read more

Arrogant and rude locksmiths if you ask me. Yes, locksmiths are important to have around, but the men that work here (especially the older short man with the white hair - probably the owner or manager) are SUPER ARROGANT! Sometimes I house sit two buildings around the corner, so naturally I get a lot of copies of keys done with them because the location is convenient, BUT not once have any of these men that work here given me good customer service. I can't wait till I find another locksmith so I can never go in there again and see these macho men that are so NOT evolved in being able to take one step up on treating people nicely. read more

Super nice guy runs the place, fast and efficient service, and quality key copies that aren't sticky with first use. Love this place.

Metro Locksmith was super helpful and very efficient. I went to four other locksmiths before them, none of which had the keys that I needed. They have a wide selection and are sure to have the keys you need. The employees are super fast and so nice, I had a great experience with them! read more

What's this? I'm the first to review? That's odd, as this place has been in the same location for aeons. Admittedly it's a bit out of the way, on a quiet part of Seventh Ave., but it always comes to mind when I need some keys made or some esoteric hardware that isn't worth a schlep up to Home Depot. This is a well-stocked hardware store that is, in addition, a competent locksmith that is capable of making pretty much any key imaginable. (An exception is skeleton keys; for that you have to go down to Greenwich Locksmiths at 56 Seventh Avenue So.) Anyway, locksmithery is not as easy as it looks, and these people do a very good job. They make Medeco keys, which requires sanction from the manufacturer. They've succeeded in making keys where others have failed. I'm thinking in particular of Blaustein Hardware, which repeatedly screwed up a key-making job for me. Metropolitan has anything you'd need by way of hardware/housewares, and then some. Service is very good, as befits a first-class hardware/locksmithing emporium. read more
