Recently got locked out because my door jammed by itself, for some odd and shitty reason. My superintendent at the building wasn't able to fix it, so I had to call my own lock service company. The absolutely, great thing about All Service Lock & Security is that they charged me $0 for coming out to take a look at my lock. Now, I will qualify that they were only a few blocks away from my house, but everyone else I called, even the relatively close ones, charged like $60 just to come out and take a look! That means if I had chosen to go without their services, I would have been down $60 for zero work done. All service lock & Security arrived quickly, replaced my cylinder in under an hour, and did a very good job on the whole. You don't have to pay right away because they give you an invoice, which made this process even easier because I was able to send a copy first to my building management. I would highly recommend them, especially if you're in the neighborhood. The entire price to open the lock and replace the cylinder cost my $280. I suppose it could have been cheaper, but I'm not familiar with prices in the city, so I can't say for sure. read more

The only set of keys we had is the one I gave her this morning -- My sister is on vacation... so, ouch! I called Terry and his lovely wife, Doris, came to the rescue. We got hold of Terry and he rushed to Chelsea and opened the door for $70.00 - yes, $70.00, not $200.00! I was expecting him to come and get the cash at my office a few streets away from my sister's apartment... About 1 h after my call, Terry called me to tell me that he had opened the door for housekeeper. I thought he was outside my office, but he was on his way back to his store... He told me that he would send me an invoice, not to worry! Unbelievable! So I just sent him the money -- What a wonderful man. His wife is lovely too! I'm stunned! Who said New Yorkers were NOT nice? I walked in a little before 9am on a Wednesday morning and needed to have 2 keys made. The entrance is a little hidden on the basement of the street view, but not too bad. They were both pretty standard keys and the guy behind the counter was quick, friendly and had them done within 5 minutes. Cash is king here, but the 2 keys cost just a shade over $6 which I thought was very fair. Definitely recommend. read more

This place is great. Owned and run by a couple I believe. I've been in twice and dealt with both husband and wife and they're both super friendly. I will never go anywhere else to get keys cut as long as I live around here. Keys run about $2ea depending on the key. They just cut 5 keys for me in about 5 minutes. Only thing you gotta know is its cash only so have a few bills on you when you come in. Otherwise there's a chase about 50 yards away. read more

Needed 2 standard keys copied, and I picked up a plastic topper and key tag as well for $5 total. Very reasonable; I've paid more for the same thing both in Queens and on Long Island. Hidden little store that is on the lower level of building 226 E 53rd St. Proprietor is an incredibly nice man who was able to copy my keys in less than two minutes. Looking around the very small shop, I realized he probably did not take credit cards. When I told him I didn't have enough cash on me, he said, "Oh, well you're in the neighborhood so don't worry, next time you pass by just pay me then. No need to make a special trip to the ATM for this!" That's not something I, as a lifelong NYer, am used to hearing. Definitely would go back for my locksmith/key needs! read more

This is a great shop. I've gone to them multiple times to copy keys and they always work the first time. The owner also offers to re-do them for free if they don't work to your satisfaction. Copying a standard key takes a couple minutes. Once I needed a high security key copied, which required the locksmith. He wasn't in at the time so I dropped the key off, and they were done within the hour. Cash Only! read more

They were fantastic! I had terrifically bad experiences recently getting keys copied at the two other places in the neighborhood, so was thrilled to discover this place. The prices were reasonable, the service fast, and I was advised that their business name was stamped into each key, so to feel free to bring back any key that was problematic. Only one out of six was problematic. They re-cut that key, plus gave me an extra, newly-cut key, explaining what the issue was. I was enthralled that someone could be so attentive to notice and explain which groove wasn't cut high enough! I wish I had known of them years ago. I can't praise them highly enough. read more

This place reminds me of old-school NY, a really weird but great feeling in this neighborhood. They were great! educated me on the fact that the key I was asking to be copied was a fairly rare key and they knew it well. Both husband and wife were knowlegable and helpful.
