I recently worked with Metropolitan windows to replace 10 original windows in our home, and 1 patio door. I decided to work with them because they are an authorized reseller and installer of several manufacturers (i.e., Milgard, Andersen) and I worked with Paul Richart, the owner, who seemed knowledgeable and was responsive. The good stopped there, and I would highly recommend going elsewhere. Our windows came in first. In typical retrofit installs, it's a pretty quick and non-intrusive process. With Metropolitan, it took them 3 days to install 10 windows and they absolutely DESTROYED my stucco and window interior. They also left a huge mess, with damaged stucco, concrete, and plaster all around my house, without any care. They did come back out another 3 times, after I involved Andersen, to fix the exterior but their workmanship is horrible and we couldn't trust them to do the interior. Initially, they claimed the issue was Andersen's and that they were sent the wrong window sizes, but it later came out that they measured wrong and just tried to get them to fit with brute force!! I am still dealing with leaks due to the horrible installation, and spent thousands extra to resolve all the damage caused on the interior. Then our door came in. Unbeknownst to us, the door arrived damaged. Instead of inspecting the door prior, they removed our patio door and installed the new one, putting us in a position where we were somewhat forced to accept it. There were missing parts as well, and they left the door partially installed with some areas open to the exterior elements. We had an Andersen repair service for our windows and had him look at the door, only to be told they had not seen a worse installation in 18 years -- no sealant, supported by damaged plywood. Our saga to resolve these issues continues. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

I had Metropolitan replace my windows and sliding doors 14 years ago. The springs that hold the windows up in two of my double hung windows broke. The manufacturer did not honor the "lifetime" guarantee. Metropolitan found replacement springs and installed them on my windows at no cost. You will not find a more honorable company than Metropolitan. I could not recommend them more. They were professional and did quality work. And they made sure that commitments were kept. After 5 other quotes, we chose Metropolitan! We were in need of replacing 2 sliding doors (from 1977): one approx at 7' wide x 8' tall and another 9' wide x 8' tall. These aren't exactly standard sizes so we wanted to make sure that a company can retrofit doors correctly and at a reasonable price. Our initial IN-HOME QUOTE was done by Tom. He was thorough and patient and answered all my questions, even after we met by following up via email and text! Most of all he was honest and not pushy at all. (Mind you this was our 6th quote so I kinda a had a feeling what to expect.) After meeting with him and verbally committing, I met with Paul to do the FINAL MEASUREMENTS. Paul was great too because he made the experience seamless and assuring that the Anlin doors we chose will look great and a good choice! Once the contract was signed, we then dealt with Cathi who was nice and easy to communicate with in scheduling, confirming and follow up of our appointment! INSTALL DAY was a couple months later after the in-home quote and signing the contract which to me was an acceptable time (because ya know nowadays with supply issues and all). (Another note - One of the reasons we chose Anlin was because we knew they're here in California, somewhat local!) It's been a week since Perry and Mike installed our doors and we couldn't be happier! They were punctual, courteous, professional and cleaned up on INSTALL DAY. They hauled away our 2 big old single pane glass doors and cleaned up the debris as much as possible. They installed the new casing of the doors beautifully and made the doors fit so well. In regards to the doors, we have noticed a HUGE difference from our 1977 doors! Before we had curtains for not only privacy, but to block the HEAT that comes in burning HOT on the west side of the house at the end of the day. So far we have had such a smooth experience with metropolitan windows! We just had our windows installed and we are waiting for our doors to be installed into weeks. Our salesperson, Paul, was very easy to work with and made the selection process very easy. The scheduler, Cathi, followed up on my request for an ETA and split up the installation so we could get the windows put in sooner. She made it easy to communicate with her via text message and provided several date options for installation. Our installers, Perry and Mike, were the nicest most respectful servicemen you will ever encounter. They were fast efficient and knew what they were doing. Had a new fiberglass door installed to replace an old wooden back door. The new door is solid white with double pane window and is much more secure then the old one. Also no draft in the kitchen anymore and it looks great. This was an investment (not cheap) however the entire frame and door jam and threshold was replaced along with the door. Paul, the owner, was honest and gave us his best quote right from the beginning, without any haggling needed on my side. (Another competitor company told me that the pricing provided on the day of visit was good only on that day, salesman tactic in trying to get me to sign contract) I went with Anlin Catalina, fantastic product, and best pricing came from Paul. Had Anlin Del Mar in the past, Catalina was just as good, at a much lower price point. Perry and his crew of installers were fast, considerate, wore masks, and resourceful. They arrived on time and finished slightly earlier than anticipated. They cleaned up after themselves, no mess was left behind. Financing was great, able to qualify for a 7 year loan, they are part of the REEL program. Not all companies are. Contact person of the bank that financed the loan was great also, smooth process. Metropolitan is also an approved vendor of Anlin, which is important. I called another company that took over 3 weeks to get a quote, which could not give a quote at the end, which I realized is because that company was not an approved vendor, and needed to source product from another supplier, which they had trouble getting. Approved vendors can be found on Anlin's website. I would hire them again for another project. read more

I am only rating the initial experience I had with this company as we did not choose them for our window purchase. I'm not mentioning names on purpose as this is not an angry review, but hopefully a constructive review. The salesperson did a very thorough presentation and even brought samples of the Anlin windows which was appreciated as most companies did not do this. So far, so good. He said that Anlin was having a special, but when he wrote down the estimate, it was very high (higher than I expected without a discount). I was supposed to get an official quote by email, but it didn't arrive. After almost a week, I sent him an email letting him know that I didn't receive his quote. He then forwarded me the original quote showing that he had sent the first quote to an incorrect email address. The quote was the same high price and I asked if he could provide a discount. He agreed to a small discount and said he would update the quote quickly. I never received an updated quote. I can only assume that it went to the wrong email account again. Fortunately, I received a second Anlin quote that was significantly lower (over two thousand less) and we decided to go with that company. I had also received other non-Anlin quotes with a huge range in prices, but felt like Anlin was the best quality, so we did pay a bit higher for better windows. If you are looking for Anlin windows, I highly suggest getting at least two or three quotes from different types of companies (not just window companies). We ended up going with a construction company listed on Anlin's website. Maybe the non-window companies are able to offer lower pricing as they do not have the high marketing/advertising costs that most window companies have. I will write a review on the company we chose after the installation is complete. I hope this is helpful to both Metropolitan and other window shoppers out there! read more

We were pleased with our new sliding glass door even after being told that the product they were using was very cheap and would not hold up long term... it was the right price for us and would be fine so we thought for what we needed. We had no complaints until the screen started falling off about a month after we had the slider and screen installed, then the wheel of the screen came off. I called many times to get help with the issue and no one called me back. I finally called in and told Gary that I was a new customer and needed a quote on 22 windows... He called me back immediately, go figure. We were told we would have someone come out to look at the screen but there was mistake on the time and I was not on site when the installer came to look at the problem (this was months after my original call regarding the issue). The installer said he was recommending after my description of the problem that I get a new screen. I never heard back from the company. I called and called. Finally someone called me back after I told them we were coming in to the office in person and how furious we were. They said they would order the screen and call me the following day it has now been a week later and they have not tried to get in touch. I have called many times now and no one will call me back. I just got done calling and after receiving their voicemail hung up and tried again the company started picking up the calls and hanging up on me. I am beyond furious... this company has no respect for their customers, they are only out to make money. They will not follow through on any of their promises. I STRONGLY recommend not using this company. We plan on bringing a complaint to the better business bureau immediately. Beware!!! read more

I agree with other Yelpers that they are good on the sales end, but if you have any sort of problem, this business fails miserably. I placed and order for 7 Magic Windows with Gary. The problem came with the installation. One window was installed crooked, another was supposed to be privacy glass and it was clear, and my big living room window frame was bent. Why they did not check the windows before leaving to see one was crooked and the other was the wrong glass I do not know. Sloppy service. Gary sent his guys to fix the crooked window and replace the wrong glass, fine....but the problem came with living room window. I went back and forth with Gary, sending photos of the warped frame, but he never bothered to come out to look himself. He sent a guy from Magic to look at it, who confirmed it was crooked. Gary took no responsibility for his guys. I firmly believe they either bent the bottom of the frame when installing it or it was sent that way ....but regardless of how the frame got bent, Gary denied any wrongdoing and acted like he could not care less that I was unsatisfied. He ignored my calls, and took his time replying to my emails. The last I heard from Gary was on Feb 2, when he emailed me that the new window was ordered. Sounds great, right? Well, fast forward to today, 3 months later.....I never heard back from Gary. No new window, No apologies, no trying to make things right. UPDATE: Surprise surprise... the day after I posted this review originally I magically got an email from Gary asking when he could install the new window. No explanation, no apologies for the delay. If it takes a Yelp review to get some sort of response, and you still don't make any sort of apology, that is really bad business. read more

Gary was wonderful to work with. We have a giant patio door, he said that actually getting an OXXO format would be slightly less expensive than one sliding door. We live in a condo and there is absolutely no place for a dog door. We needed to get a dog door through the window and a lot of other companies were unable to accommodate this request, but Gary was able to do this for us! I am so happy with the final result! I had made an appointment with Gary to find out what type of windows I need, and how much it would cost to install the windows at my rental property in Huntington Beach. Gary answered every question and concern I had, he was extremely helpful with suggestions on which windows to install. I called close to six different window places to get quotes, etc. Some of them never responded back, some of them required a lot of baby sitting to get a quote or response and most of them were just crazy expensive. However, none of that applied to Metropolitan windows. I got a quote for six windows but ended up just going for three of them. When the owner showed up - I felt he was extremely honest. The quote he gave me was the price I paid out the door. The work was quick, clean and the windows seem to be a great quality. This review is long over due! We had all the windows in my mom's house replaced last year. Gary came over and patiently answered a thousand questions, showed me all the options, and then patiently waited while I got 3 more quotes AND asked additional questions. He beat everyone's price, product, warranty, and service. He also provided all the legal documents regarding licensing and insurance. The install went perfectly with his two installers. We looked over every window/door and the install was flawless. Our house looks so much nicer and the temperature inside has improved dramatically (it use to be a furnace in the summer). The Windows and sliders have improved my 82 year old Moms life significantly. I could have saved lots of time and energy contracting him from the beginning.
