Had an appointment back in July, mostly to refill medications. As much as I appreciate being in and out of the office quickly, another poster called it rushed and it certainly was. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY MEDICATIONS. SINCE JULY. I called multiple times and got the answering machine and no return call. Only once did I get an argumentative receptionist (who did not even work at that location). She told me the refills had been sent. I called my pharmacy, Amazon Pharmacy (as in Amazon.com) and they told me that despite their multiple faxes to the office requesting the refill, they had received nothing. Before this, I had been receiving refills regularly from this office to the same pharmacy without issue. I eventually opened their third-party app to see if the pharmacy information had for some reason changed... and sure enough... my prescriptions were being sent to an Amazon Pharmacy in Sunnyside, NY. I don't even live in New York! Not only was this a careless error, but when they saw the multiple faxes from Amazon.com, they didn't even bother to check the address! I'll take my business elsewhere to a practice that does care, and I recommend you do too! read more

I came in for a body check up and a concern for a suspicious lesion.,First time seeing Dr Cohen. He looked at it and said it was fine. I had to ask him to do the body check up- the other reason that I came. Guess he didn't read the form I filled out! It took him 30 to 45 seconds in entirety. I held out my arms he looked-legs same-front and back same. My partner does a better check up. What a joke. He said you're fine and walked out of room. Wow.... Rude and dismissive. Obviously he couldn't care less. Don't waste your time or money. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would not go back to him-ever! read more

I came here w a dermatology "emergency" AKA painful cystic acne taking over your face! I've been a patient of Dr. Fishman and Fox in Jersey City for many years now. They are both super intelligent and come w great bedside manners. Unfortunately the day I wanted to be seen they weren't working. I was recommended to go to the Kearny office and get seen by their partner, Dr.Cohen. He followed the standard protocol of treating my cystic acne by injecting it with a diluted steroid and placing me on some low strength antibiotics. The injection helped w the swelling and pain however it did not remove the content in my acne. Antibiotics over time helped clear it up a bit. I am thankful I was able to be seen. I found the staff and Dr.Cohen to be as equally helpful. read more

Coming back to state that when I did get a biopsy from another Derm, it was not at all what Dr. Cohen diagnosed by looking at my skin. As I wrote in my prior review, he should have done a biopsy. The medicine he had prescribed for the incorrect diagnosis had a warning on it that it was dangerous to the adrenal glands - so glad I didn't use it. Moral of the story, request a biopsy. read more

I made an appointment for 9:45 am with Dafna. My husband has been seeing her for a few months now and spoke highly of her and the practice. I arrived a few minutes early to complete paperwork. After 15-20 minutes passed my appointment time I asked the receptionist what was going on and she said they were running behind. The office wasnt crowded at all so I have no clue what the wait was for. I waited ONE HOUR until I was finally brought back just to have my annual skin screening. When the nurse greeted me I mentioned how long I waited and she wasn't very concerned about this delay (frustrating!). Dafna was nice enough and thorough during my exam. She explained things to me and answered all of my questions. Honestly I probably won't return to this office for my next annual exam because I can't stand when doctors offices do not respect patients' appointments or their time. I understand sometimes doctors fall behind, however, the receptionists should inform the patients when they check in. In response to the comment left from the practice, I was not late for my appointment. Perhaps that's the time your secretary checked me in but I was in fact early for my 9:45 appointment. Everyone in the waiting room was taken in before me, including people who arrived after me. Communication and efficiency seem to be lacking in this office. I was told I would have a call in one week with my results and tomorrow will be two weeks-still no call. It's a good thing you've "changed the way you schedule patients" however it seems that your desk staff should receive some training in communicating with patients. I will definitely not be giving this practice a second chance. read more

my first dermatology appointment ever and it was horrible. I went in and the girl at the counter gave me the forms to fill out that I already did online and after completing them she shredded them because she gave me the wrong form. They called me in pretty quickly and the dermatologist Dr. Cohen spent under a minute looked at the rash I went in for on my leg that I have had for 2 years. He didn't ask me a single question about it besides that, told the assistant to send in a prescription for me to the pharmacy I chose and walked out. He never told me what he thought it was and didn't seem to care. Got to the pharmacy 2 hours later and no prescription was ever called in for me. Needless to say I will not being going to my second appointment in two weeks because they just want to collect the money from insurance with no patient care. read more

I was in and out in under 30 minutes with a recommendation from a dermatologist that ultimately didn't work. A year later, the front office reached out to let me know that I had an outstanding balance and that they'd been sending letters. (They hadn't.) I provided an updated address (to two people!) so we could get that resolved. A year later, in the middle of the COVID panic, I receive another call saying that I have an outstanding balance. This is actually ridiculous. I don't mind paying. If you could get your act together long enough to take my money, I'd never have to hear from you again. CLEARLY a company that prioritizes collecting $90 in the beginning of a recession and the middle of a global pandemic when more than a fair share of people have been laid off is hurting for money more than I am. Dr. Cohen prescribed medication that did not work, my face actually got more red scaly spots. I should have asked more questions before a biopsy but the nurse in the room kept jumping into the conversation. "Go buy the blue bottle in the store for that", only because I said the red scaly spots on my face looked similar to the red scaly spots on my scalp. I would recommend if you have biopsy tissue exam, follow up with the location that provided the service, sooner or later that information will appear on your bill. And by the way, "the blue bottle stuff" did not work either. read more

Metropolitan Dermatology located at 703 Kearny Ave, Kearny, NJ is an incompetent office. Back in November 2021, Dr. Elena Maydan performed a biopsy on a skin growth that came back with a malignant diagnosis. MOHS Micrographic Surgery was scheduled, immediately, and was to be performed the first week of December 2021. A day before the scheduled surgery, a Kearny Office Receptionist called to cancel the procedure without a valid reason for this cancellation. After all, this is "Cancer" and for Dr. Maydan to disregard her patient and not even have the courtesy to get on the phone, herself, to explain to the patient the justification for the cancellation is Unacceptable, Unprofessional, Unethical, and Pure Selfish. In hindsight, and foolishly enough on my part, this MOHS Surgery was rescheduled for Thursday, January 6, 2022. Again, the day before (Wednesday, January 5, 2022), a Kearny Office Receptionist calls to cancel the surgery; again, without good reason to cancel a Cancer Patient's procedure for the second time. Yet again, no call from Dr. Elena Maydan, herself, to offer her Cancer Patient any alternative (maybe, a different MOHS Specialist from their practice could have done this surgery) or explanation as to why a second cancellation. Do yourself a favor, STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE, if you value your Health and Time. Incidentally, when calling this office, you never get through to a live person and get transferred to automated purgatory and then get disconnected. When I asked for what happens to co-payment they told me that's it ...sad visit meantime i had that procedure done once before at the same office with the same doctor and i believe was later than 5:40... sad read more

My Dad is 93 years of age and had basal cell carcinoma on his nose, face and neck. These growths were removed over time during the span of several appointments. The treatment and care my dad received was excellent. The office management (Ali), the supportive professional staff (Evelisa, Yessinia and Rosa) were caring, patient and very kind to both my dad and me (as he went through the procedures). The receptionist, Stephanie, was very helpful and accommodating in scheduling us for appointments and emergency followups. Dr. Elena Maydan completed the surgery on my dad's nose. In addition to the removal of a large growth, skin grafting was required. Dr. Mayen's expertise in basal cell removal and skin grafting was excellent. My dad healed beautifully! I am so appreciative of the wonderful treatment my dad received as well as all the efforts in making my dad feel comfortable during the entire surgical process and his recovery. Dr. Fox was great, worked quickly and efficiently and he had a great attitude. Explained everything clearly and answered all my questions. My only negative feedback is that the office waiting room is eerily quiet, no music, no TV, it's uncomfortable because you either hear every detail of conversations going on in the waiting room or you hear all the details of the conversation between the secretary and the people checking in and paying. read more
