When I first entered his office, he sat me down and went into extensive detail and attention to explain to me the process of the tattoo removal. He analyzed my skin type and healing time and asked me very specific questions to narrow down to my exact treatment. Very informative. When it came to the procedure he made sure I was as comfortable as possible. The pain can be described as a rubber band snapping and it hurt, probably not that bad, but I have no tolerance for pain. Anyways he was very patient and genuinely tried to ease the pain. He offers numbing medication and if you need a break stops before continuing on. I had him stop several times. Price wise, it is $75 for the consultation, but if you get the procedure done the same day, he waives the fee and only charges you amount depending on size, color, and complexity. My tattoo is about 1.5 sq inches and has multiple colors, but the larger and more complex, the more it costs and you may need several sessions. You should know, if you are serious about the procedure, it is time consuming, depending on how many sessions you need every 6-8 weeks. His staff is very friendly and professional. Dr. Huang called me after a couple of days to check up on me and see if I had any scarring, how I felt and the progress of the healing. I really feel as if he cares about his patients unlike other doctors who just want to get your money and move onto the next one. They managed to squeeze me in later in the day with Megan. However, when I arrived just five minutes past their 10-minute grace period (after calling ahead to let them know I'd be slightly late), I was told I had missed my appointment and the most she could offer was a conversation -- not the actual service. I found this incredibly disappointing and frustrating, especially given the effort it takes to travel from NYC without a car, and the fact that I've been a loyal client for years. I believe she was a student or nurse not sure but anyway I explained to him the reason for my visit. He examined my legs and stated we have to do surgery on you.. I'll tell .... to call you. He never explained to me what was going on or exactly what the treatment plan was. I then began to explain to him the excruciating amount of pain that I was experiencing and how my feet were swelling daily and how I could no longer wear closed shoes. I had bruises forming on both of my inner ankles and then he stated to be very sternly," You shouldn't have any pain in your legs only cramping." I desperately tried to explain to him that this was my second time seeing a vein doctor because I had no pain even though the atrophy blanche caused my skin to start forming light patches a few years back. I was not experiencing any changes to my condition until I made the appointment. He then stated I can prescribe you a steroid Creme, but my concern was that open bruises were starting to form and the pain or wound care, and I wasn't sure how the creme was going to help. He quickly left my room with the lady assistant and closed my door. I could hear him telling her things about me as I got dressed. I was appalled and felt disrespected because he didn't take that much time to address my concerns, but now I and everyone else there could hear him through the door talking about me. He dismissed my concerns as if I didn't have any very rudely. I hurriedly got dressed and cracked the door as I heard him saying to her oh, she says pain she shouldn't have pain, and ohhh we have to treat this to cover ourselves because she may have DVT. THE AUDACITY OF THIS MAN!! He was never going to see me or treat me. His bedside manners were terrible as well as his duty to treat me correctly- blemished. I told all my coworkers about this; some have similar problems with their legs from standing a lot. I left and made no follow up appointment The receptionist told me ... would call to schedule the surgery. What surgery what type and would this ultimate correct my ulcers I had so many unanswered questions? I tried the creme, it didn't help the pain of me having an open wound on my leg. I called the office the next day to ask the doctor Again what pain medicine I could take or preventive care I could do to treat my ankles, and the receptionist stated that the doctor wasn't in the office and once he got back, she would call me back. Needless to say, I'm still waiting for them to call me to this day...!! The woman did call me back to schedule the surgery a week later and I told her no Thanks I'll seek my professional Care elsewhere. And that's exactly what I did and I have no complaints. They explained to me what I needed to do and gave me a printout explaining the treatment options as well as side effects. And my bruises are healing now, and my feet are no longer swelling. I thank God that there are doctors out there that truly care and don't treat their patients this way. I pray no one else feels the way this man treated me.

So, the girl didn't feel comfortable in a room alone with me during the consultation, so a male co-worker joined and watched me like a hawk. I'd had an earlier consultation at Removary and they'd mentioned the difficulty removing colored ink from melanated skin (if it comes out at all). I asked about that while at DI. They concurred. They brought out a book with examples of their work. All colors of ink can be removed from pale skin. With melanated skin, the laser may not be able to distinguish between the ink and the melanin and remove all the color leaving you with pale patches. That said, I asked if they could show. Me. Results. On. People. Who. Look. Like. MEEEEEEEEEE. Like, lemme see the results on Black folks, mang! All I'm seeing in this book are non-melanated folks who've had their tats completely removed. This is a waste of time...unless they think I might refer any non-melanated folks I know who want to have a tat removed to them (I'm not). At one point, male co-worker says to me, "but YOU're not going to get those results...", dripping with condescension. To which I replied, "and that's why I'm waiting to see someone in that book who looks like ME." As gal showed me their price chart, I asked if I could take pix. Their price charts are laminated. One of the photos that I'd taken had glare from the light above. When I mentioned it, male co-worker looks up as if to say, "glare from what?" The glare is visible in my pics. They ask for credit card info before you can make your consultation appointment so they can charge you if you cancel within 24 hours (Removary didn't do that, but...) Several places do that. I get it. While I was there, they asked to see my I.D. That was naggin' at me, so I later asked what that was about, I got two different answers. One, "it's for insurance purposes. We need to make sure the person who did their paperwork is the same as the one being treated!" (Yes, you must fill out paperwork for a consultation) I replied that I was only there for a consultation and at no point, did I ask to be treated during. Ugh. Then I got answer #2, "it's just standard protocol to ask during the consultation because some do choose to be treated during!" Again, at no point did I ask to be treated. Anywho, when the consultation was over, the guy was all friendly. He was happy to see my black a$$ leave, lol. I was happy to leave and matched his enthusiasm. So, here on the marvelous Yelp, you have two Black folks, Carolyn F and myself, lettin' fam know that you're gonna get some juicy negative vibes if you go to Disappearing Ink. So, don't. I highly and high-key don't recommend. The vibe at Removary was much more welcoming, inviting, amiable, down to earth (don't let the fancy Park Ave address fool or deter you)... I was promised that they would completely fade within 2 years. They never faded and in fact they started to turn a blue ish grey color. To have this corrected, I had my eyebrows microbladed twice in hopes to cover up the mess that was previously done by the first tattoo. I got fed up and started researching different procedures such as the Lift method (saline microblading) and was told that I wouldn't qualify since the tattoo was so old. That person pointed me in the direction of Pico sure laser. I began searching online and found Disappearing Inc. Solution: I booked an appointment online and met with Darcy. She is very meticulous and knowledgeable-she takes her time to go over the entire process in details. Darcy is very welcoming and answered all my questions. The entire time she made sure I was comfortable and informed. The whole process was completed in a matter of minutes. Darcy took time and explained to me the after care procedure as well. My only regret is not coming here sooner. I already booked my second appointment and look forward to working with Darcy again.
