This location of Metropolis always catches my attention whenever I'm in the RiNo neighborhood. As was the case for me while I was running errands in the very area, I finally made a point to stop and check it out today. Wonderful ambiance! Modern with chic design throughout. Its high ceilings make you feel that you have the whole place to yourself. Service is what I always focus on. After all, you want to feel welcomed and invited when you enter a business. It's a turn off for me if I don't see that whenever I utilize a service at a store/shop/restaurant. The lady upfront had a nice warm smile. Her cheerful "Hi" warmed me to the core. The other worker (man) who handed me my triple espresso was also very warm toward me. Hence I can comfortably say that their service is/was top notch. Now the drink. I always order doppio or triple espresso so I can pour some milk or cream into it to my liking (latte sometimes is too diluted with milk/cream; cappuccino is either too latte-y or too dry. That's why I only buy the eapresso part so I can do it on my own.) When the lady rang up my triple shot I saw two entries of $3.76. Apparently that's the price for a doppio (double.) Some coffee shops cannot make espresso shots in odd numbers and Metropolis appears to be one of them so they charged me for two doppios making it quad shots. I hence paid over $7 for my espresso in total. I can easily get triple at the price of $4 or less at any shop as far as I remember so this price of $7+ is too steep for me. I, however, enjoyed one of the Energy Balls as these are decently priced. These are adult version of cake pops without the little stick. As long as you are okay with peanuts, these are nice little treats you can easily bite into as a "pick-me-up" along with your caffeine. Overview this location of Metropolis checks out as a good place for a caffeine stop. Parking shouldn't be an issue because it's not on the busy Larimer street where many of the RiNo shops/restaurants flock. Enjoyed it! read more

Met up with a friend to get some work done on a dreary Monday morning around 9am. It was busy but not packed and they hadn't yet opened the garage door which just about triples the seating capacity. Was thrilled to see outlets incorporated into the benches which meant no issue charging the laptop. Woo! Enjoyed the ambiance and parking was easy - a big win for the area. Baristas were nice and efficient. I had a honey lavender latte which was honestly a disappointment and the reason I can't give 5 stars - it tasted like a regular latte. I opted for drip coffee on my second round which was pretty standard and kind of pricey for a small. I also ordered a raspberry cream cheese scone and was also not really worth writing home about. Would certainly come back to get work done but to just hang out I feel like there may be better spots nearby. read more

Love this adorable, inconspicuous place! The service was top tier and the Lavendar Chai with oat milk, to die for!!! Also enjoyed the cortado with almond milk. Even enjoyed the sourdough chocolate chip cookie, surprisingly. Special shout out to our amazing barista, Maria. Ahh, this coffeeshop is so cute!! I stopped by in between appointments to check it out and order a hot Brown Sugar Latte. It's located at the base of the new AVA RiNo apartment building complex. Glad I don't live here, or I'd come all the time! The coffee was pretty good. Seems to be a popular place for working remotely. Lots of chatty regulars. Tried the Wi-Fi to answer a few emails. I had an incredible experience working from Metropolis Coffee in RiNo today! This location was very spacious, with tons of natural light coming in to brighten up the very aesthetic coffee shop. I loved the decor, especially the plants! And there are outlets accessible from nearly every table. Onto the drinks and snacks - we tried the iced maple cardamom latte (heavier on the cardamom, in a unique and tasty way) and the dirty chai (recommended by our friendly barista and oh-so-good) and enjoyed them both! To eat, we ordered the cacio e pepe croissant and the everything bagel puff. I'd tried the croissant at another coffee shop, but the everything bagel puff was new to me and SO good! There was an interesting savory-sweetness to the Dijon mustard cream cheese. I'd order this again for sure! read more

Coffee place inside of my apartment building so I finally decided to check it out. I don't drink coffee so I went for a hot chocolate, and was not impressed at all. Not sure how you make bad hot chocolate but this place nailed it. Hopefully the coffee is better but I wouldn't get my hopes up. The barista at the registered didn't even acknowledge my presence, had to wait until the other guy noticed me and came to take me order. Impossible to get a bad photo in this place. Certainly passes the (oh no the dreaded phrase) vibe check. Truly though, the service was wonderful, as was my iced mocha. They had a solid selection of pastries as well and truly SO many places to sit and enjoy your coffee and do some work if that's your thing. Metropolis coffee is one of the main staples when it comes to quality coffee in Colorado. My judgement of a good barista is always based on a cappuccino and best judgement of coffee beans is typically the drip. With that being said my last few experiences with my cappuccino were great but not excellent. Either the shots that are being pulled aren't pulled correctly which gave the espresso a slight bitter bite. That or Herkimers beans were slightly a darker roast (I prefer my cappuccinos to be rich with hot chocolate notes for reference to my palate). Their pastries are always great as they get them from a local bakery. The only real complaint I have is that they only have cold brew on tap and not Nitro but this is a very small inconvenience for me personally. If your looking to be productive at this location it is very ideal as most of the clientele are working remotely or working on college projects silently while dialed in to their laptops. However, the apartment complex that is attached to the coffee shop at times will close off the extended area to their lobby making the inside cramped with little room during their popular hours. All in all, great spot and great coffee. Would recommend. read more

Located on northwest facing corner of a quiet shaded residential block, I found this gem randomly one morning. The space itself a plant lover's dream. The shop is a 2 story atrium with curtain windows the full height and breadth of the space, warmed by copious plants everywhere, and warm bleached natural wood accents. The space is both voluminous and cozy. There are ample USB and conventional plugs for devices, making the space ideal for work. The cafe seating outside stayed shaded and cool the full morning, which was great for enjoying the ambiance of the neighborhood of new build apartments. The baristas are friendly, skilled, and helpful. Coffee was great, but I'd drink tap water to be able to enjoy the space alone. read more
