The boys at Metropolis Bikes never fail me. Every time I walk in the door they are super friendly and very helpful. They are very informative and have great prices for everything you need you for you bike. Brad has amazing customer service!!! read more

In the middle of a pandemic with 2,000+ cases/day in LA County, I was shocked to see the owner of this shop not wearing a mask. His shop is small. The doors were shut and A/C on. Probably ten people in the shop when we arrived, most wearing masks but not all. There were no signs requiring customers to wear them. Who knows whose exhalations were recirculating in that closed space? We felt uncomfortable and stood outside, only going inside to pay. We bought a bike there because they were the only shop with it in stock. I regret supporting a business that could be getting people sick. Wish we went up the street to Noho Cycles, where I bought a great Poseidon bike a few years back. read more

Saturday, June 14, 2020 at 4:45 PM. Six customers in the shop, all wearing masks. The owner and his assistant were not wearing any type of face covering, in violation of Los Angeles County requirements and, apparently, without concern for the health of their customers. We left and will take our business (nearly $2,000 spent at Metropolis in the past three years) elsewhere. read more

Went there twice to check and fill tires and both times they gave me an attitude about it and suggested I go pump some air in my tires myself, I know this might sound exaggerated but it is not at all! read more

I rarely ever bother writing reviews but this time is actually warranted. Had my bike tuned up here for which I was charged of course and bought two new wheels from the shop. Two weeks later I had to stop mid ride because my gears weren't catching only to find out that they forgot to put the goddamn spacer back on my bike... left my gearshift loose and didn't notice that I needed a new chain which I specifically asked about. Had to stop mid ride, thankfully I found a bike shop open... and then wait an hour and half while they determine what the problem was so they can fix it. Sorry but these guys don't know what they're doing if they miss this is basic stuff. It might sound insignificant but it's very significant when you're in the middle of a 50 mile ride. How safe would you feel driving if you can't trust your mechanic for shit. read more

I bought a bike in a box thinking it wouldn't be too bad to assemble, but once I took all the parts out of the box I was overwhelmed and knew I needed an expert. I called Metropolis and Brad let me know he could assemble my bike and turn it around in about a day!! I'm not a bike expert at all, and I was a bit nervous to call but Brad was polite and friendly and I knew my bike was going to be in good hands. Sure enough the next day my bike was ready and put together perfectly. They even offered to install bike lights and a phone holder I bought when picking up my bike. Awesome customer service, very fair prices, and a great selection of accessories. Thanks, y'all! read more

We spent a month searching for bikes. So glad we checked this place out. We walked in just browsing and walked out with two Cannondale Quicks. Selection is GREAT if you are looking for Cannondales. They had my size (which was harder for me to find) and my husband's size (a standard medium). For my bike, they had a flat black option! Before this store, I didnt not see this color available anywhere else! Test rides: You test out the bikes on a small residential street. Wasn't too crowded when we went. Service: AMAZING. Three people ended up helping us and we are so grateful. Knowledgable, enthusiastic, and accommodating. Price: Pretty competitive. They offered us a first responder discount, which we appreciated. Overall: We checked out a zillion and one bike shops and fell in love with this one. Now we are lifers. Check them out if you are looking for a bike! You will leave happy. read more

Great neighborhood bike shop! These guys are so helpful! They set me up with a light, cel holder, water bottle holder and a new lock. They actually put it all on for free. They were super nice. Had a great selection of accessories (and bikes) I was in and out quickly. When I need a tune up I will definitely go there! read more

Went in here looking to purchase a bike - customer service was beyond subpar. Guy who helped me did not seem to care that I was in his store. Most importantly, NONE of employees were wearing masks or social distancing with customers or each other, and I did not see any signs regarding COVID-19. I understand they are not a food service but it's irresponsible to not be taking ANY precautions. Thankfully the other customers wore masks. An older gentleman (the owner? Not sure) was also scratching his bum while helping customers. I will not be returning. read more

These guys are great! Super friendly and very helpful. Stopped in to try to resurrect an old bicycle and they did an inspection, filled the tires with air and sent me on my way with no charge! So nice of them! read more

Goose review would favor this shop for bike service. Except that I do all the work on my own bikes. Ha Ha. Anyway, I give these guys 100% perfect score on customer service. Location is perfect, and very accessible. The shop is perfectly clean and organized. I hope these guys stock more parts in the future. read more

I needed new brakes for my mtb and this place really served me right. They did not have the brakes I wanted, and instead of making me wait or overpay them to get the parts from a non preferred supplier they held my bike while I secured the parts (could have been $500 sale for them, as I wanted it to to be!) and installed the new hydraulic brakes for $50. No overcharging because I have a nice bike or I am a general novice and for that they have secured my business forever ! read more

It's a nice store but the employee makes it seem depressing lol but it looks nice inside tho

I assembled a new e-mountain bike last month, so I had Metropolis check and adjust it before riding it. I called a few shops and Metropolis were the most reasonable and the nicest (which I actually care about more). Since I'm a newbie rider, they didn't make me feel stupid and were very friendly. Metropolis will definitely it my bike shop for future needs. read more

Super helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. Good selection of used bikes and friendly staff. Recommended!

Got my cannondale quick 3 from Brad. Great shop and exceptional service. This guys know their bikes.

Super solid owner who was very patient with all my newbie questions. Every time I brought it in for service they gave me great service and price! Can't beat that! read more

I was not impressed with Brad; he seemed preoccupied and not able to give us the attention we required to purchase a new and a used bike. I went back 4 times only to be told he didn't have anything or that he did not get to assembling a few new bikes we were interested in. Every time he said, come back next week which we did only to leave ungratified. The young man behind the counter was very nice but very busy. Their selection is limited and Brad, after we told him we did n ot want the $1500 electric bikes he had, addressed us like we were looky-loos when I had a pocket full of cash and was ready to buy. They could do better with greeting and paying attention to an inquiring customer. read more

I bought a electric bikes from here and absolutely love it, didn't want to order a bike through the web and find out I didn't like it or it was too small, I went here through the advice of other bike shops on Burbank and I extremely happy with my bike. The owners great and helped me more than a few times. Thumbs up. read more

Went to 3 bike shops across the Burbank/NoHo area and none of them came even close to being as legit as Metropolis. Came in for a new fork for my bike, and left with a new frame and a bunch of other goodies that I also got installed. Very direct. No bullshit. Nice guys running this place, I'll definitely be back again. read more

I came here specifically because I knew Metropolis carried Electra bikes, so there was no sticker shock disappointment for me. See, Electra is like the Cadillac of bikes, and since it seems I can do nothing half-arsed, I needed the most stylish and comfortable of cruisers to roll around town in. Of course I did. Sheesh. I will be honest-I had not rode a bike since I was about 12. But the employees of Metropolis didn't look at me like I was some silly, spoiled girl who just wanted another shiny toy. Andrew saw me eying the new Electra Om and simply commented on how cool it was, that I could hop on for a test any time and let me hold the bike overnight for a refundable $20 deposit so I could come back and give it a whirl (I was in a skirt that was not conducive to riding without breaking my neck). Well, the next day and after just minutes on that bike, I knew my credit card was about to get $600 heavier. Andrew also helped me pick out a proper lock and was funny about telling me I could try on the helmets but sagely warning me not to look at myself in the mirror because there is no way to not look dorky wearing one. So true-I still haven't looked. After making my purchase another employee offered to help me get the bike in my car and when I declined, told me to just come back if I did need any assistance. And thank goodness, because after struggling to get it in there and failing, he helped me remove the handlebars to fit it into my truck so I could get it home and ride around like I later did, smile permanently painted on my face. read more

After further dealing with Metropolis I retract all positive things I previously had to say. My experience today with the staff(over the phone) in regards to a situation regarding a repair that went terribly wrong was less than pleasurable to say the least. They showed a pretentious attitude and a serious unwillingness to make up for a mistake that they admitted to making. Now I am out a $45 dollar tire and a perfectly good tube. Thanks Metropolis. I actually DO hate you. Don't go here. read more

THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! Gave my bike a free pump up and got me hip to a ton of cool new things to bedazzle my bike with. Stoked to of met these guys! Kioshi was the man!!!!!! THANKS AGAIN Y'ALL!!! read more

While this place looked cool online and has many awesome accessories , the customer service here was terrible. I walked in and loved all the cruiser bikes, but needed help picking the right type of bike for around town. As I walked in, I had no clue who actually worked at the store or who was just hanging out . No one greeted us , asked if we needed help, nothing ! They do have a great variety of bikes, accessories and prices are reasonable.. But they do lack customer service. Maybe it was an "off" day but I'm more inclined to purchase things when people actually offer to help me out. Just sayin. Because of this, I went ahead and left the store empty handed, none of my q's answered and proceeded to another bike shop which did get my service read more

I went in with my friend who needed a tube repair. While he was waiting, I decided to buy a pair of gloves. After paying $28 for them, I politely asked the the shop owner if he would top off the air in my tires with their air hose. He said "Sure, but I have a better idea". He came back with a manual air pump and said "why don't you do it yourself." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THAT?? On top of that, my friend paid $17 for his tube repair, a total rip off. My bike is in need of a tune up, but I will NOT be going to Metropolis! read more

I went to Metropolis a few days ago because I wanted to purchase a bike but wasn't quite sure what bike I should get. I arrived early and while I checked out the bike selection I was approached by Evan one of the staff people. Who was super informative and asked me what i would be using the bike for and I explained to him how I would be using it. He pulled down some bikes for me to test drive. He was super nice and informative. He wrote down the prices for me and I went online to check out some pricing. I ended up purchasing a second hand bike off of craigslist. I wanted to get the bike checked out and cleaned so I took the bike back. The service just wasn't really up to par after that. Evan wasn't there. Some other guy rang me up and I asked him if I got a good deal on the bike and he didn't seem very forthcoming. He said that the bike would be ready in a day or two and took my information. A few days later I hadn't heard from anyone so I called them and they were like "yes your bike is ready" I was like wow why didn't anyone call me? I got there and the showed me my bike it didn't look that much better and then no one offered to help me load it into my car. Overall not very good service. I was really disapointed since my little tune up was $100! read more

I walked into my very first bike shop two days ago and today I'm at home staring at my brand new, absolutely perfect bike. Here's how it went down: I never really learned how to ride a bike (I was a roller skate kid), so recently I decided that it was about time I got one. I found a few well-reviewed bike shops on Yelp and set out to the first shop on my list: Metropolis Bikes. By the time I left, the rest of the list was in the trash. I was greeted and helped by Leah (forgive me if I'm spelling the name wrong), who was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable, and patient (all super important since I barely know the first thing about bikes). I told her my rough ideas of what I wanted gleaned from some internet research, and by bike number two, she had nailed it. The first bike she pulled was great but a bit too big for me. Then she pulled out a bike that stopped me dead in my tracks. I mean, it was *perfect*, down to the color (which I hadn't even mentioned). It fit my body and my needs perfectly, and on top of all that, it was exactly in my price range. For $239, I got what feels like a custom bike made exactly to my specifications. I put the bike on hold since my car was not sized or equipped for transporting a bike, but by the next day I still hadn't been able to find anyone with a big enough car who could help me. I went back to Metropolis Bikes, and this time I was helped by Jimmy. I could tell that they weren't set up to do a ton of delivery the way a major chain would be, but Jimmy was wonderful and graciously agreed to work it out for me. He came by today with my bike and a smile, and while the bike is amazing, it's the customer service that really made the whole experience so five-star. I couldn't have been happier, every step of the way. read more

A really interesting shop. They have a great selection of modern cruisers and comfort bikes, as well as affordable mountain bikes. They don't really have much in the way of road bikes, though they told me that they plan to expand in that area. They also love single speeds (more so than fixed, but they'll probably hook you up with that route if you prefer). Their selection of accessories is of the funky and eclectic sort - such as pink leopard print basket liners, as well as the more sophisticated Brooks leather goods. Their greatest strength, however, is the staff. They are extremely friendly and have a passion for riding and a love of the bikes they carry. I picked up from these guys a 70's Chicago Scwhinn cruiser for my girlfriend that they had "recycled" - which is they stripped everything, cleaned and powdercoated the frame, and rebuilt it with all new parts. The bike is a real stunner that always gets compliments when we're out. I could tell that Steve, the employee who was responsible for the rebuild, was really proud of his work. We saw him out on a Midnight Ridazz a couple of months ago, and, spotting his work, he joyfully asked "How's she riding?" This is the place to go if you've got a classic cruiser that could use some new life or are looking for a modern ride that's casual and comfortable. read more

I was going to give this place a 4 star rating but after reviewing a few of the the other yelpers comments I have to take it down a notch. It bothers me a tad that they have a sliding scale when it comes to bike tuneups. I read one review which quoted an employee as giving a $50 dollar quote while another quoted $200. So with my $100 dollar charge, I'm feeling a bitter taste in my mouth. My bike needed a new tube and the breaks needed a bit of grease. Nothing too complicated. In fact I know I can do both of these things myself but I've ran out of the time and space to do it. I think next time I need a repair I'll check out the guys down the street from me or I'll suck it up and just do it myself. read more

I needed to purchase and switch out cleats on my shoes to Delta cleats and Metropolis helped to accomplish this task. They answered the phone, answered my questions, and we courteous and friendly. A great shop for getting your bike serviced. I, unlike most learned to ride and have completely forgotten how to get back on again, BUT, I worked with a tri-athlete at my last gig and I recall many lunch hours of tagging along with her to this store for her various bike needs and the people always seemed to do a great job and turned it around quickly. Commute with my bike every day brought my bike in for service and hasn't worked properly since. $500 later problem was still not diagnosed. Took it to another bike shop, owned by the same people... They diagnosed it in 45 minutes for free but told me they couldn't fix it. Unless you're purchasing a new bike, a pound of their exclusively roasted bicycle shop coffee, or a fucking bell, I wouldn't go here. read more

Stopped in to just 'look' on a Sunday and left with a new Cannondale...and I couldn't be happier with the treatment we received. My girlfriend and I popped in just to 'look,' as it was getting near their closing time. It didn't matter to them...we were welcomed with open arms and shown an array of bikes from cruisers to more performance-oriented hybrids. Brad, the owner, LISTENED carefully to the kind of riding I was planning to do, and then offered up a few for me to try out. At no time did I feel 'pushed' in any way...it was clear that Brad and Spencer just wanted me to thoroughly enjoy my purchase. All this and free tune-ups for life? Wow! In this age of Amazon and look-alike 'big box' stores, it's a joy to discover a gem like Metropolis where their passion, experience, and APPRECIATION for your business delivers a truly superlative shopping experience. read more

I had a great time shopping for my bike at Metropolis! The store is well-organized, everyone was friendly, and the level of service was outstanding - minus any pressure to buy. I had done a fair amount of online research and had narrowed my choices down to a few makes/models, one of which was Electra. Metropolis has a HUGE selection of Electra bikes. Andrew, the bike-savvy employee who helped me, could not have been nicer, more patient, or more knowledgable. He encouraged me to test-ride various bikes for comparison, and made sure the seats and handlebars were adjusted to fit me before sending me off to cruise the side-streets of NoHo. Since I was going for the full-on vintage girlie bike look, I was thrilled to see Metropolis stocks a large selection of baskets, bells and other accessories I could trick my bike out with. After spending a few hours helping me select my ride and all the goodies, they built me a new bike out of the box in less than an hour. Truly, buying a new bike for the first time in 20+ years was more than just a pain-free experience, I actually had fun. Thanks, guys, you rock!! read more

Little did I know that buying a bicycle wasn't as easy as it sounded. There are so many different makes and models to choose from. I researched for days and visited several shops all over town. Metropolis ended up being the last stop in my hunt for a bicycle. As I walked into the store...I saw a beautiful Electra sitting outside. I could swear it said, "Ride me!" A few minutes later I was riding this seven speed cruiser in the parking lot. I test rode a few others but the fit and feel of the first bike was a match. I was hooked! A salesgirl helped me pimp my ride with a basket, bell, LED front light, flashing rear light, water bottle holder, U lock (they created a custom attachment for my frame), and of course a rear view mirror. Metropolis has a wide selection of bicycles to choose from. Their prices are reasonable and their service is stellar. If you buy a bike from them they will tune it up for free! When you purchase a bike they give you a discount on accessories. I can't believe that at one point I contemplated buying a bicycle online. * There is a small charge to install equipment on your bike. So worth it! read more

Well i was doing some research before purchasing a bicycle and Metropolis was my first stop. I spoke with Ulysses who took the time to explain the different styles of bikes. He asked what kind of riding i would be doing and that way he could better gauge which would be the right bike for me. There was never any pressure to purchase anything from Metropolis and Ulysses talked to me as if we were friends for years. Unfortunately i didnt purchase a bike here at Metropolis but as its in my neighborhood and since i got a great vibe from Ulysses, this will be our go to LBS. On a side note, they do stock lots of nice cruisers and electric bikes, as well as tons of accessories. Very nice selection of cruisers and some hybrids that have some awesome paint schemes. read more
