Elizabeth, the property manager, was always easy to get in contact with, reasonable, and willing to talk through problems or concerns. I can't really say the same for all the leasing agents but I also rarely had to interact with them at all. I imagine that Elizabeth ends up having to clean up their messes a lot. Location wise you can't beat it. I was working as a federal contractor and could get to the national mall within 20 minutes on the metro from the stop across the street. Tons of great food options and a Giant and CVS within a block really added to the walkability of the location. I cut my car usage by 3/4th in the two years I live here, saving me a lot of money on insurance and maintenance. The parking garage is convenient, if pricey, but Lenox Park/Bernstein doesn't own the garage so I can't hold the cost or the maintenance of the garage against them. Colonial Parking needs to sink some money into the gates, as they would frequently stop working during storms. The building itself is a few decades old, so it comes with all the things expected. They were regularly doing things like replacing carpets in communal hallways, painting, repairing elevators, etc. So while there are things that need attention, I would say it appeared that it is a project they are continually working on, which is all you can do in order to maintain a building. Now the negatives, which is really only two IMO. This building would regularly experience a rash of bug infestation. You wouldn't see them at all for a few months and then suddenly they would be everywhere. They changed the pest control during my time there and that did appear to help a little, but I ended up having to spend a good bit of money keeping fresh bait stations around my unit to fully address catching roaches crawling into corners anytime I turned on a light. I had heard other residences experience mice issues, but I never saw a single one inside the building/parking garage in the two years I was a resident. I'm not saying it isn't possible and you will definitely see them running around the bus station across the street but I consider that a part of city living. The other negative is the elevators. They have four that go into the resident area and two for the parking garage. They were in the middle of upgrading them when I first moved in and that took almost a full year to complete after I arrived. This meant frequently one or more resident elevators would be down, but I thought this would resolve itself after the upgrades. Unfortunately that was not the case and it got worse after the fact. The elevators are constantly beeping with communication errors, and it seemed like there was always at least one not working and frequently all four resident elevators would go down. This wasn't a huge headache for me, I was on the 7th floor and can walk up 7 flights of stairs with no issue, but I could imagine that's really frustrating for people, on say, the 17th floor! We would literally have residents abandon groceries at the communal space because they didn't/couldn't carrying them up the stairs. Ultimately I didn't want to leave Lenox Park, but I was laid off and ended up needing to relocate for my new job. I would have stayed at Lenox Park if I could.

But be aware of the pests!!!, I kill about 10 roaches every day, the kitchen is the worse place and I am extremely clean I never left unwashed dishes or food standing there. I have requested pest control, they come in, but it does not work, the disgusting animals keep coming. Talking with other neighbors; everyone has the same issue. Other than that: place is EXCELLENT! Apts are huge, nice views, great location, no noise at all, respectful neighbors, so nice staff from leasing office to front desk, cool amenities (gym, pool, business area), they keep the building really clean, upgraded elevator and new carpets in the hallways. Update: I've been out of Encore for a couple months now so I thought I'd write a brief update…read more Although there were many factors regarding the buildings/tenants that I found unfavorable, there are positive things to highlight: - Location is great. So close to "downtown" Wheaton and the mall/metro but tucked away in a quieter area. The area is very walkable with plenty of residential streets for walking, biking, dog-walking, etc. - Size: Apartments are very large compared to others in the area. I lived alone in a deluxe 1-br and never felt cramped in the slightest. Bathroom, kitchen, living area and bedroom were all big and could easily accommodate another tenant. I do miss the large balcony (I don't have one at my new apartment). - Leasing Office: The staff were generally friendly and helpful. I always had great service with a smile from Calvin, as well as others on the team. Most of the negative issues I experienced here are no direct fault of the leasing office. If you can get a top floor unit and are lucky to be in a building that's not shared with habitual door-slammers (Noise was the biggest issue for me), it's not a bad place to live. Parking is free, they hold regular community events and the location is great.

Also, after a year of living here they are raising the rent by 8%, pricing me out. They also hired a third party to dole out the lease renewals so good luck trying to get them down any. Additionally, I have lived in apartments throughout Chicago and Milwaukee and have never had as many issues as I have had here maintenance-wise. I think I've had to put in close to 8 requests for maintenance over the past year (faulty wiring for lights, AC going out, dryer stopped working, dish washer broken at move in...). The space of the apartment itself I love as well as the amenities, but leaving overall with a bad taste in my mouth for the whole experience.

The leasing office staff (shout out to Kabrina) and maintenance staff has gone above and beyond to make my cross country move from the West Coast seamless. I've had a lot of questions (and requests) while coordinating the logistics of my move being out of state, and everything has been handled with care, compassion and professionalism. I am looking forward to being a resident. As for the area, I'm equally impressed with the King Farm community and all the amenities it offers those who live in the area. While I've occasionally had my disagreements about things and took a star off during my last review following an upset, potentially likely due to my own high standards and occasional bratty-ness, the office staff is never petty about it nor holds it against me and still goes the extra mile to address all resident concerns. I complained a few times in the winter about hot water running out because I'm a bit of a diva and like to take really long showers and baths (over 20 minutes) , and the management staff, Jennifer and Nicole, and maintenance team, Isaac and Jose, moved mountains to address the issue - from ordering a new water heater, to trying different brands of water heaters, etc. they wouldn't drop the issue until they knew I was satisfied - which says a lot about customer service. Especially after I've had prior moments of being bratty with them and threw a few temper tantrums in the past lol *embarrassed face*. Vivian, Helen, and Kyle at the front desk along with the new staff are always amazing and so helpful. If they see you coming in with heavy boxes and hands full and recognize you, they unlock the front door so you're not struggling to find your keys while holding on to grocery bags. Makes more of a difference now that many of us are spending more time at home. Anyhow, it's a great community. You can *feel* the difference of the vibe here versus other apartment communities I've visited when I entertained the brief idea of moving. I haven't lived anywhere this long since 2006. Sure, some have complained about thin walls - but that is apartment living anywhere you go. This is still the best customer service I've experienced in my life at an apartment community. Management is friendly and attentive and seek to resolve issues as they arise, maintenance repairs are handled on the day of said request, great seasonal landscaping and lovely blooms! Location, location...echoing other reviewers as having a Whole Foods and a Metro stop only an elevator ride away is amazingly convenient. The building is very quiet, especially at night. I highly recommend the units with a western view (i.e., facing the Geico lot) to guarantee plenty of natural light and incredible sunsets. The building was initially slotted as a condo property, hence the superior proportion and quality of the units. I especially love the large soaking bathtubs and spacious closet space! As with everything, there is always a bit of room for improvement. The front desk staff changes pretty often - it's hard to let go of those relationships when they unexpectedly disappear overnight. (Best of luck to Marilyn and Theo who were such assets to WP!) As the community allows for furry friends, expect some daily pees right outside the front entrance and the occasional accident in the hallway. Also, at WP tenants pay for all of their utilities + separately for Pepco; so if your budget is very tight, you may not enjoy the monthly Conservice bill that appears on top of your rent which includes things like hot/cold water consumption, sewer, pest control...utilities that are typically already factored-in the cost of monthly rent in other communities. A two-month notice is required to move-out without any penalty, even when an annual lease is in place. But even in light of the above, we have been very pleased with our experience and recommend Wisconsin Place 100% to anyone looking for a rental apt. in the DMV!

I wanted to like this place and for a long time, I did. The Good: The location is genuinely great. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and well-connected to Metro and bus lines. If you're not looking for nightlife, the area is convenient and walkable with nice parks nearby. The front desk staff deserve a specific shout-out. They're consistently friendly and helpful, which is honestly rare for large managed buildings in this area. As a managed building, it's what you'd expect: expensive, but relatively maintenance-free living. The Bad: Over the last year or two, there's been a noticeable decline. When I transferred to a new unit within the building, it was poorly cleaned, the dishwasher and dryer didn't work, outlet covers were missing, and drywall patches hadn't been painted over. Getting these basic issues resolved took repeated follow-ups, escalation to the property manager, and more pushback than any resident should need for move-in-ready basics. Management is pleasant enough face to face but tends to deflect and divert rather than actually address concerns. The most recent issue is packages. The building replaced its prior system with a single open room where packages for what must be hundreds of units sit on unsecured shelves. There's no logging, no delivery notification, and every resident has access. The room is fob-accessed, but it's unattended -- if someone gets through that door late at night, there's nothing stopping them from walking out with whatever they want. It doesn't feel secure. My Recommendation: I used to genuinely enjoy living here and would have recommended it. At this point, I doubt I'll renew my lease. The customer service and attention to resident safety have slipped enough that the premium rent doesn't feel justified. If you're considering Wisconsin Place, the location is excellent, just go in with realistic expectations about management responsiveness and building security. Maybe shop around to the other managed buildings on Willard Avenue or North Park.
