TV service is incredibly slow. Accessing my acct online is a pain and I still can't see a copy of my ebill.

Just had mine installed and had a great experience with the two young men who did the installation. Very Courteous, Professional, and Knowagable. They went above and beyond by reconnecting the many smart devices I use in my home. So far, so good. Speed is a vast improvement over my previous provider. I recently had MetroNet installed and the experience was very poor. The installer was knowledgeable and pleasant but when it came time to bury the cable it was a disaster. The crew came and buried the cable before I knew they were here. I expected that someone would come and mark the location of my current buried services before this happened but it did not. I was told this marking would happen when the installer completed her work. You can see from the photos what a mess they made and, in the process they cut one of my other services. When I reported this to MetroNet customer service I was told to report it to that other service provider and that the other provider would do it free of charge. They were right. The other provider did not charge for the repair even though it was clear that MetroNet had done the damage. However, it doesn't see right that MetroNet would get off so easily. I haven't had the service long enough to know if the quality is as advertised but the installation certainly is not. Don't think I would recommend this company based on these poor practices. And, if you have a nice lawn .... probably not. read more

MetroNet is a shady company! I cancelled service in March and still haven't received my partial month refund check. I have been told three times now that the check would be refunded to me within in 2-3 weeks. If you don't call and stay on them, they will keep your money. Don't trust them! read more

first off, if you're going to come into someone's home and start putting holes in their wall make sure you're talking and scheduling installation times with the person who pays the bills. they knew they weren't speaking to the person who would be paying (me). You people then tried to make me uninstall everything myself (when I didn't know how you installed it in the first place because I wasnt even home when you guys came here) and ship it back to you when I was told someone would come pick it up. you have a terrible reputation in my neighborhood and I see why. read more

I used comcast for years and when Metronet came out I was one of the first to sign up. Sorry for those who have had issues but I will say I'm 1000%happy, Best customer service in the industry, Did have a issue once which ended up being my outlet not them but fixed no charge, A tree fell on power lines, they took care of it not even being their issue, they gave all customers a speed upgrade free during these crazy times when many are working from home. Our internet abruptly ceased working this week. This morning when we called to inquire, we were told there were copyright infringements (?) spanning from February of this year, every to few days. We were also notified by the rep that we had been notified in "emails and a final letter in May" that our address was used for "Call of Duty". However, we didn't receive any emails, and no letter. I have even checked the usps history to make sure we hadn't missed it, and there was nothing. We are a family of 3; my husband, myself and a pre-teen daughter. In no way, shape or form do we play games like call of duty, or download content from it. Even if we had received the notices, (we didn't), Most ISPs have an app or way that the user can get on and see what devices are on the internet, but metronet does not have anything like that, so there is no way for us to check if someone is using our internet around us. There are about 14 teenage boys within a block radius, so I am guessing another household has hacked into o it service without us ever knowing. Now we are without internet and the rep said there is absolutely nothing we can do to appeal or fix it. That is unbelievable and very poor business practice in my opinion, but I guess since the customer opinion doesn't matter; we will look for internet elsewhere. read more

I've had MetroNet about a month. I Like the internet speed and price. The on-demand portion is not very current. With my previous service a show would be available on demand within 24 hours. I am not sure what the timeline is for Metro's "IPTV", but it's over a week or 2. If there is an app for MetroNet, haven't found it. Spectrum had the My Spectrum app which allowed me to watch shows on my iPad or phone. Made it nice for when I travel for work (frequently). Lastly, and the reason that motivated me to write this review, is the service times. My TV and internet quit today. I called customer service about 6:15 pm. They determined my fiber optic line was damaged. The totally unreasonable length of the line that's so nicely tangled in a giant wad behind my TV along with the other 8+ cords they installed is visually showing connected, but an alarm says it's not connected. If I had to guess, the Rumba had a difficult time navigating all the wires and cords Metro used to get my service set up. I am a little surprised it isn't a fire hazard. Back to my story.... I was given a Wed appt, (4 DAYS from now). The customer service rep was able to contact someone and get me moved to Tues (between noon and 5 pm). what a relief! Only 3 DAYS without internet or TV. I work from home and since my company does not communicate via telegraph or smoke signals, I will now be planting myself somewhere that does have internet. Unacceptable. I never thought I would miss Spectrum (if I shared my internet password, you would realize the extent of my disappointment with Spectrum), but at least they did repairs or whatever within 24 hours with a 2 hour appointment windows for the 1 time I had them here in the 3 or 4 years I had their services. MetroNet - you have to do better! The sales person was in my neighborhood seemingly 24/7 when you were signing up new customers, but guess you forgot to staff the service side of your business. Oh...... and the box the fiber optic line is connected to now beeps every 15 minutes to let me know it's not working. I get to listen to that taunting reminder for THREE DAYS. read more

We live in Geneva IL and have been a Metronet customer for a couple of years now. Initially their service was great. About 2 months ago they were doing some service on our street and accidentally cut our line. The crew came out promptly and stayed late to get our service restored. However, since that time I've had the cable laying in my yard waiting to be buried and I've called 3 times (after initially being promised by the service tech that it would be buried in a week) asking then pleading then getting angry about the fact that, after repeated promises that it would be buried, it has not yet to this date. I have to say I am extremely disappointed in the service that we've received on this issue. read more

The worst service I have experienced. I would leave NO stars if that was an option. I have not even had the company a full month and have had nothing but issues with this company. They are charging me for services I do not have, Internet was faster with AT&T, Then they had to send out an installer who was supposed to be at my house between 8a-12 but didnt show until after 1:15. Now they are telling me they cannot credit me for services I DO NOT have until the next billing cycle?! Tell me why would I pay for services I DO NOT have?! If i could give this company 0 stars i would.I cxled Comcast with joy once i heard Metronet was coming to DeKalb. I cancelled my service and my cell phones (so I had to make some financial adjustments as well, no worries because I was intended to be very happy with Metronet. They were almost 3 months late on install, that's right I cannot even make that up. i received every excuse in the book. Finally out of nowhere one day, we get the call to call them and well schedule our professional tech out there, i was excited!! the professional tech was barely able to speak Russian who was not with Metronet at all. People metro net-like Comcast DOES NOT do their own installs they hire out a 3rd party, and I must say they are very unprofessional. I am envious of some of these pictures of wires in the ground because our tech was so lazy he slapped them on the side of our house bundled up behind my foliage, it looks so cheesy and redneck. People this is JUST the beginning... after making 5 or six calls finally they agreed to come back out and fix the issue not just with the wires but the speeds i ordered was supposed to be 1 gig..i was getting 250 wireless which you should get at least 500mbps, and wired i was getting about the same closer to 300. The second guy comes out looks at everything DOESNT fix the wires, and tells us things look good, after leaving I checked when I got home, and things were anything but good, the speeds still slow and no one cared to fix the wires the tech said they were Comcast wires which is a downright lie.. After going back and forth with customer service which is not as bad as Comcast I might add, they thought to give me credit, and send another (this time) Metronet tech, not a 3rd party., this I was excited finally was going to get this fixed. So the agenda to fix everything was to get the extenders they said I didn't need in the first place that I had originally ordered, fix my bedroom at the far end of the house movies were buffering and was getting about 10mbps,((i kid you not))so I got home and I couldn't believe it. they put in their extenders and NOW im running on wireless 150mbps, and the techs exact words were I'm sorry I do not about the other side of your house it is like a porthole, we can get nothing, it NOW its worse than before, and now I'm buffering in my main point of the house for my webinars on Saturday morning . Needless to say, I'm getting frustrated, as I am sure you the reader are getting that way as well just reading this. So I call them from work telling their customer service this isn't working too well so they give me a credit so far now I have over 100.00 in credits, but the thing is I do not want credits I just want what we agreed upon. So I invest about 30 min going over my concerns and matt assures me this will be the final time(i liked matt but matt didn't run this company) and again we see metro net showing how they appreciate a customer scheduling a appointment between 8-12 gets there right at 8, came in looked at everything tried to give me the run around about how wi-fi is not guaranteed, went over to look in my room, and said we will need to drill, and that will be 85.00 I almost at that time threw him out of the house but continued to reason with him considering all the drama they have put us through, he said you know you are making a good point let me call my supervisor, he went out in the truck I left for work, and when I get home I hear the guy said the supervisor said he will call us, nothing done with the wires, the bedroom, or the overall speed. 4 days later NO ONE called.. I called the savvy team of specialist at Metronet to hear apologies, and lets schedule a technician out there, I cannot believe this but to follow suit metro sets the appointment, I stayed home from work to meet a 12-5 apt, 4oclock no one there so I decided to call them, dispatcher tell tech they will call back..finally I get a call from coy, dispatch at Metronet this man had no idea who he is dealing with and tried to play the psychological card on me, this is where I started to lose my cool, he was telling me that they would not be out till about 6:30, in so many words i said this is unacceptable told him I would expect to see them hear and he hung up, I do admit I said, bullshi$$ , and goddam , but at this time i am getting really mad and feel now they do not care about my business, so he just hung up. 6:30 passes I call metro net at 7:pm I get this snowflake telling me its just him and Rhonda taking calls in the call centre in paduka KY, ((are you kidding me 2 people taking calls. I have had the fiber service for 2 years, zero problems. The internet speed is consistently fast unlike cable which would fluctuate based on how many neighbors were using it. All the reviews listed below talking about third party contractors doing installs or running cable through yards does not represent the actual service, and any service will have increases in rates. My rates were flat for 2 years. I think that is great considering cable would go up randomly, sometimes every other month. 2 years and counting, I have no intention of changing aervice, and I love it. read more

Absolutely the best Internet provider in the area! I have had Dish Network, DirecTV, U-Verse and Comcast and they pale in comparison in to Metronet! Right after they installed it was discovered they had an issue with the 5G battling regular Wi-Fi with the routers and they came out replaced everything!Have always been prompt to respond to any of my needs no matter how big or small. The Internet speeds are incredible and zero lag while streaming anything on the Internet. No more pixelation or buffering while trying to watch Netflix, Vudu, Hulu or any other Internet streaming service. I also love the familiar AT&T U-verse equipment and UI. For those that said AT&T U-verse was faster Internet speed must be crazy! U-verse is a step above dial-up. If you're contemplating getting Metronet do not hesitate at all. read more

They started out great here about 2 years ago. We had tried and were ready to give up all the usual suspects ( Comcast, DirectTV, Dish). This company had fiber cables underground, shouldn't be any problems with service due to weather. Billing was consistent, all was good. Skip to now. We've been without TV service for literally days at a time, never offered compensation for it. We've had guys out here for hours at a time, only to have the problems return: - Dark screens-No TV- no access - Freezing or skipping during shows for weeks - Remotes not working ~buttons don't work, especially at night, but are fine in the morning, even after we were given brand new ones ~the 'new' remotes don't sinc with the TV remotes, so volume and rewind and even the guide are a big hassle. Their response more than once: 'that's just how the new ones are' - Needing to call and have customer service walk us through the restarting rigamorole, and - Customer service telling us that a guy would have to come out, 2 days from then, leaving us without TV for 2 days!! This happened three times. That's the kind of quality and service they have stooped to, in just two years in our area. I used to recommend Metronet to anyone who brought the TV subject up. Now, I would say, stay far away from them. They do not have care, compassion or consideration for their customers. Things just continue to go wrong and get worse, without improvement. I mean come on, two days without TV? Not improving on that in two years? And not even offering some kind of compensation for the discomfort and lack of service? They have aways to go to make things perfect. First they told me the cost would be $100 a month for TV and internet, I asked that is taxes fees, all included, and they said yes. The second month my bill was $120.95, and they insisted that they never told me that price was with all the taxes and fees. The TV DVR cuts off the last 30 seconds of all shows recorded, unless you take the time to reset the options for that show recorded. Metronets on demand has a very poor. Also watching live TV on you phone is complicated and does not include CBS. Comcast and Direct TV, has it hands down compared to MetroNet. I gave them 2 stars, hopefully as they get bigger, the price comes down, and they work out the bugs. Until then, I am going back with Direct TV, no matter how bad AT&T's customer service is, it is way cheaper, and once you get all set up, the only problem is the occasional storm knocking out service, but then you just fire up the iPad, and you can watch it there. read more

I was promised service for $69.99 plus a small amount of tax...no hidden fees. "Whole home wifi" was advertised as free for one year. Instead, then added $10 for whole home wifi and $10 for "Technology Fee." I tried to cancel and was told to take the equipment to UPS store, where it would be packaged and mailed for free, before my service could be cancelled. Unfortunately, I had signed up for auto payments from my bank account. Metronets website would not allow me to cancel. Not only did they continue to charge me for the whole month, but they charged me $147, for service that was supposed to be $70 a month! I convinced my bank to block any further payments to them, or I don't suspect I would ever stop being charged. read more

THEY RAISE THEIR RATES REALLY FAST! We had Metronet installed 2 1/2 years ago starting at $154/mo. ($1848/year) Today, it is $199/mo. ($2,388/year) raised from $196 which was last months bill. So that's an increased cost of $45/mo or a 30% increase in costs in just 2 1/2 years. We dropped Direct TV when it reached $200/month and had Metronet installed for the $154/mo. original contract cost. It Looks like we will be dropping Metronet now for the exact same reason! Switched to them a year ago for better price than Comcast. 5 hour install & the guy spent half the time on the phone asking for help Speeds are NOT what they advertise based on the speed tests we`ve done. Actual service of the fiber optic is great. Beware of of the billing-just got my 2nd increase. Started @$82 and now $102. "Technology fee" of $9.95 magically appeared 4 months ago. Charged in case I cut their line in my yard-quite unlikely due to HOA & my health. Phone customer service to their Indiana hub stated they forgot to put it on the bill initially. So we've had Metronet installed for a better part of the year now and we got the 1gb package which let me tell you is not that at all. We sacrificed most of our cable and sports for this "better internet but from the way I see it, this is just a slight upgrade from AT&T with speeds being only slightly higher. My download speeds are about the same and with all the tests I have done for a few months I average about 35, yes, 35 Mbps which is way off what we're supposed to be paying for. Now grant it the computer is a bit away from the router being upstairs but even then the speeds never surpass about 150 on a phone test RIGHT NEXT TO THE ROUTER. Multiple people have been out and nothing has changed so in my eyes it isn't worth the price tag it carries until the speeds are fixed. read more

Don't believe the sales pitch - MetroNet is just another provider with more of the same (bad service) Honest Review of MetroNet service over the last few months I never thought I would ever say, I had BETTER service with ATT, but I am there at this point. Since the installation of Metronet a few months ago, we have NOT ONCE been able to watch a full movie, TV show or football game without it rebooting, resetting or freezing. Over Thanksgiving in a 10 minute period of time the TV reset once every 30 seconds! When we call MetroNet they just say that everything is fine because it says so on their end. I am sorry but everything is NOT fine or I wouldn't be calling daily. Over Christmas we had to turn the TV's off because the resetting, rebooting and freezing was a problem again and we watched the games again on our phone on a different service. They finally sent a tech out last week who said our extenders were interfering with each other which was bogus per two other technicians. He had us unplug one of them and said he would refresh everything and that would fix it. He left and we tried to watch a movie and the problem started up immediately. We called tech support again at that point. They then fried us for leaving the second extender unplugged and told us to plug it back in. I was like, "Why?" "It doesn't work with it unplugged or plugged in". Last night I spent two hours on the phone with a tech (Jonathan) who went through everything and then said if it keeps doing it call me back and we'll replace the EERO as that seems to be the problem. He did see some issues with the EERO last night. So I call back tonite to speak to him and he's out so I get Austin who read through the notes and then escalated my call and they REFUSED to come out and replace anything or try to fix the issue. They are now saying they won't send a tech out because everything shows fine on their end and they don't know what the issue is so the tech wouldn't know what to "fix". Great customer service there Metronet. The sales person ASSURED me that they take care of their customers. Really? We paid FULL price for the last few months and last night it took 4 1/2 hours to watch a 90 minute movie because it continued to restart/reboot. NOT OKAY Metronet. read more

I have tried twice to have Metronet come out. They came through our area and installed fiber drops in the townhouses I live in. I needed the drop to be downstairs because of older devices using an RJ45 hookup. The first time they were scheduled to come out, they never showed up or called. The second time I received a call that they would be late. Then when the tech did call, he wouldn't even come out to see if what i was requesting could be done, which I know it can. it was late and he just wanted to go home. They talk a big talk but their walk is more like a drunken stumble. While I do not like AT&T all that much at least they are reliable. More than I can say for Metronet. read more

I switched from Comcast. Metronet has tremendous customer service. The installer was timely and polite and, most importantly, knowledgeable. He had the complete install done in under two hours and he tested everything before he left. I have never had so easy an experience with a technician. I called them after hours, around two a.m. and they returned my call that morning when they opened. The internet speed is great for streaming and for gaming online. I did not opt for the cable as streaming offers so much more for free. I have no complaints at all. I cannot tell you how refreshing it was to return all my equipment to Comcast and to answer their questions about why I am leaving. My bill is 125 dollars cheaper than before I went to Metronet. read more

I've really liked Metronet in the past but the past 3 days I'm beginning to rethink my opinion. Saturday seemed to be a system wide outage. We've called twice today because of an outage of both tv and internet. It's been out for 12 hours now. This morning we called because we were concerned the ComEd tree trimmers may have accidentally damaged the wires but we're told it was a larger outage in our area. I checked with neighbors and 2, in less than a block from me, have not had service interruption. Tonight we call back and are told they are still working on it and again let them know we believe it's from tree trimmers but they still say it's a larger outage in our are and they still don't have an estimated repair time. How can it be a large outage in my area when two people, whose houses I can see from mine are up and working! read more

Awful! Runaway they came into my house took 6 hours to install they damaged my carpet, because it was raining and wore their muddy boots in my house. There service did not even work properly. If you cancel service they still charge you for service, if you don't immediately run to their office and physically return their cheap router. They have no relief or help for Covid, because Covid ended in June this per Brent. This is a knock off company that steals from their clients. read more

Not entirely sure how their internet and cable services are, although I have heard good things. I'm very displeased and disappointed. I paid to sign up on Wednesday and scheduled an appointed for Monday. Monday came, the installers came and said they can't set up because they don't know where the other lines were (gas, electric, etc.) They then left not rescheduling or notifying us when they'd return. Thursday came they came back only to say they ground was too cold. Friday same story the ground was too cold. I contacted the sales rep and also for no response. Finally reached the point that I need to be able to let others know how poor Metronet services. I left AT&T to save money and it has been nothing but a disaster. Their sales people do not know how to evaluate a business in their needs. The service itself has caused me to lose business on several occasions including a four day loss of service. METRONET Thinking of trying METRONET?? We were installed for 8 days. The internet was intermittent and the picture on the TVs would freeze and unfreeze every few seconds. After one day of service the living room TV stopped working and displayed the message,"this device has not been provisioned" Three days later a tech came out and attempted to fix the 'provisioning' issue. Later we tuned to a Blackhawks game on the English language channel. When the first commercial came on it was in Spanish... which we thought was odd. The rest of the game continued in Spanish. We turned it off. After 8 days of this nonsense I disconnected all the METRONET equipment, packed it up and returned it to the Plainfield office and cancelled my service. They billed us for the month at $174.22. Following THREE calls to Customer Service the are only giving me back $100.35... saying I have to pay for the time I had the service, and it's going to take two more weeks to get the money. I have never experienced as many problems with my internet until I switched to Metronet. Internet goes out daily - in order to connect, must unplug router and plug it back in several times a day. We have a booster as well and still disconnects or won't reach desired places within the home. I do NOT recommend. read more

I switched from Comcast at the recommendation of my neighbor that lives behind me. I've never been happier. Install of course they're gonna do damage to the grass burying the fiber cable but that heals. The service is top notch the install went smooth. I'm saving about $45 a month and getting faster service and more channels. I've had them for about four months now and do not regret the change. Comcast is getting out of hand with the pricing and it's about time a competitor could come into the market. I suggest giving them a try you don't have to sign a contract and could cancel at any time. We love it. read more

Salesman was very nice and believed in the product/service he was selling. He oversold the speed of the service as tests indicate the service is unable to reach the speed he promised. I called the tech dept. and spoke to an honest person who said he continues to get call from users complaining about salesman oversell of service. I was on hold with billing dept. to discuss my inaccurate charges on my bill for 45 minutes and then finally hung up. I emailed Metronet in an attempt to reach someone, only to receive a response 13 days later saying they couldn't find my account. I had to give my name, email, phone number before opening an account with Metronet. My problems are still the same as with comcast, while watching TV the screen freezes often for 10-20 seconds at a time. Salesman said this would all stop if I got Metronet service and router/modem, (I'm not well versed in IT lingo.) I was not going to comment and just let sleeping dogs lie. But the charged my account again. I was looking forward to the service, was tired of both Comcast/Xfinity and U-verse. I waited patiently for them to build out the network in my subdivision and was the first one in the subdivision to get it installed. Some issues I had: (1) We paid for 150 Mbps never got more than 30. Several times it was lower than 10 and there were times if was less than 100 Kbps. if I had to download something for work, I would have to tether off my phone which hit the data usage on the phone. It is sad that my 4-year-old cell phone has better download speeds that this all fiber network. Other posters complained about speed test and were told that "they should use the one on the Metronet site." Well the one on the Metronet site would not load 90% of the time, 5% would report a latency error and not run. The few times it did run, it reported the same speeds as other speedtest sites. (2) There were DNS issues where I would browse to companies like Google, YouTube, NFL, it could not find the site. I would click refresh 5-6 time and it would find it. If I was tethered to my phone or VPN connected to work, I did not ever have this issue, only when connected to directly to Metronet using their services. (3) Had phone issues when using VMP to work, the sound quality was choppy due to the internet service making the voice portion useless. Again, did not have this problem when tethered to my phone or my old U-verse service. Only with Metronet. (4) Tech support was a joke. Call leave a message and the will call you back, maybe. There were a few times I never got the call back. There was once I spoke with someone, the could not resolve the issue and a local tech would call me the next day but they never called. My wife called once on the phone service, was able to talk to a live person who asked how we liked the service, here response was, "it is so bad we are considering changing." The techs response was "did we open a case." The only thing they did well was set up the account. They were friendly and attentive. Closing the account seemed painless, no trying to get me to stay like U-Verse. But of course, they are still charging my account. read more

This company sounded good and made all the right moves in the beginning stages, now it seems as though greed is kicking in. I have basic service and it's up to $207.00 per month. No caps on billing?
