I managed to lock my keys in my car that was parked in my garage last weekend. I searched online for a locksmith in the area and chose MetroLock based on the almost 5 star reviews. I called on a Sunday morning about 8am and after a little wait on the phone I was able to speak to someone. She was very kind and informed me that a technician would be in touch with me within 10 minutes, I asked about pricing and she said it was $20 for the service call and the rest started at $35. She stated that if she appointment only took a few minutes that it shouldn't be any more than $55. They called a little sooner than that which was nice, and the guy informed me that he would be to my house in about 30 minutes as he was finishing up another job. About 45 minutes later he called and said he would be at my house soon. When he pulled up in his van (that only had a magnet on the side stating who he was working for) he immediately demanded that we pay him in cash before he did any of the work. We informed him that we were under the impression that we could pay with a card as that's what it says on the website and what we were told on the phone. He still repeated cash only, and after telling him that wasn't happening, he admitted that he could accept a card, so he was lying to us. At this point, we weren't very happy with how things were going but we needed the keys out of my car. He was given my credit card and then unlocked my car that literally took 3 minutes. He then charged me (with tax) $142. I was completely blown away, not only by how incredibly unprofessional he was, but by the amount I was charged. I understand that it's my fault for locking my keys in my car, but I also asked upfront what the charges would be and if I were told that amount I would not have booked the service. I then went inside and called MetroLock back and informed the same person about how the appointment went. She thanked me for calling and letting them know what happened and she would be getting in contact with the technician to see what the issue was. She also said they would be getting back to me in regards to how to make the situation right with the payment. She never called me back and I reached out to them again with no luck, and I also e-mailed them with no response. I ended up disputing part of the amount with my credit card company as I believe I was grossly overcharged and was mistreated by the technician that clearly wanted to pocket some of the cash himself. I will end up fighting it with them if they try to come back and make me pay the full amount. He also would not give us his name when we asked. I will never recommend this company to anyone! read more
