Metro - you suck. You really suck. Most of the cashiers are jerks. I don't really care for overly 'pleasant' and 'smiley' grocery store cashiers, but dealing with grumpy people really screws with my energy. Especially when you're shopping at this dungeon of supermarket. Avoid this place at all costs between 5 and 7 -- the line-ups are atricious and the credit card machines are slow as hell. It's crazy fighting for the post-work crowd before they hit the subway. One reason why I shop here: it's open 24 hours. And the cashiers are even more 'prickish' at the 24 hour grocery store downstairs from my apartment. And the other reason to shop at Metros -- on Tuesdays, it's $6.99 for 1 kg roasted chicken. I stand in line with the old Chinese ladies (that grab two chickens) and the lonely students for the cheap chicken. Then I stand in line to pay for said chicken. It sucks... but it's so cheap. This is the second time I bought spoiled meat from this location. Employees and cashiers really don't care and are not helpful at all. I will not return to this store. Update September 25: My cousin just got frozen chicken nuggets from this location and they all have frostbite and tiny green stuff growing all over. Like others suggested, just save yourself the trouble and go to Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens. read more

The store is clean and neat. There is a good selection and a good deli. it is slightly on the pricey side. They have flyers that you can use sometimes. Convenient being a 24 hours store read more

The location is good, but the store is so small and cramped that it's difficult to shop here. I would probably lose my mind if this was my regular grocery store. Yes convenience is a huge factor when deciding where to shop, but you have to draw the line somewhere. It will be interesting to see what happens with this store now that Loblaws is open a block away at MLG. read more

Whether I get home from work late or on the weekends - this store always is always open to satisfy my needs (yep - 24/7 location). At moderate prices and a decent selection, that is somewhat that I appreciate a lot. There are a couple of downsides though - like the produce section where you either can't be picky or have to know what you buy. For example out of their ~4 different kinds of organic apples, two of them taste awful in my opinion. You'll probably find moldy stuff once in a while and the discount fruit is often slightly squashed or at least overripe. Also, I think it's unfortunate that old bakery ware is only 1$ off and not -50%. And I guess as to be expected from a store like this, the people at the checkout are extremely unfriendly. To me, these downsides seem like a small price to pay for the great location, the 24/7 availability and the decent prices. But if you don't live nearby and have the chance to shop conveniently somewhere else, you might not be as excited about this store. read more

If Metro's head office were to come to this location, they would hang their collective heads in shame. I'm tempted to give this a one star but my experiences have not been as bad as David B. (who pretty much summed up everything negative this location has to offer) so I refrained from giving it the lowest possible rating. The only positive I have to say is it takes my Air Miles and has a very good location on Yonge Street and the transit line but it's not the closest Metro to me so it's a back up if I'm on my way home. Next year, Loblaws will be opening their superstore a block away and I'm sure many will go there just to avoid this poorly managed location. Always sold out of their specials, low stock on good sellers, really dirty/messy and disorganized with poor service staff on the floor. 1.5 stars and 2 on their better days. read more

Great location, great hours (open 24 hours), and a great selection of food makes this one of the best supermarkets in downtown Toronto. Conveniently located in the concourse level of College Park/The Carlu building, the building has a great selection of produce and other products that the neighboring Sobey's on Yonge Street lacks. The ability to earn Air Miles is another reason I enjoy shopping here. Please note since the new Loblaws that opened down the street has opened, the traffic in this store has declined tremendously. I stopped by on a Sunday to pick up some items and it looked like a ghost town. Company has started to bring down the prices of most of their products and provide more Air Miles promotional events/offers to help business pick up, but the store has lost it's exclusivity of being the largest supermarket in the Church & Wellesley area. read more

The best part of shopping at Metro is: keep walking to Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens. Pro's -Great location below College Park and easy access to the Subway -Open 24 Hours, if you live in College Park this is a great convenience store Con's -Always seems to need a good cleaning. I don't get the impression that this store is cleaned very often or that the display fridges and freezers are cleaned often. -Very very tight aisles. This store is small, but the aisles are about one cart wide. I left my cart with groceries after getting frustrated and walked to Loblaws. -Selection is nothing impressive. If it was 1985 this place would be impressive, the store looks old and tired, the staff uniforms look dated and no attempt was made to make the food look impressive. Metro is competition for Rabba, no where near a true grocery culinary experience. -They have the world's worst cashiers, most are miserable. It seems like the management is telling them they need to smile and the smile is killing them. Maybe they realize they work at such a horrible place. read more

Final Straw. ****DO NOT BUY MEAT FROM THIS METRO**** So many times I've bought chicken or pork that are rotten and smells like bloody ammonia. It's just ridiculous how they can keep getting away with it. There are a lot grocery stores in Canada changing the package date on their labels and I am not surprised if this is one of them. I'll be informing the public health investigators about this location, because this is one too many times. Been at least 5-6 times. read more

This store is so very handy if you're in the middle of baking something & you realize you've forgotten cinnamon. To actually do your regular shopping here, no thanks. No matter when you go, there seems to be a mob of people & lineups are always long. Being a former cashier myself, it boggles my mind what takes these cashiers so long to ring through so few. I find their prices to be a little high, but they do have the occasional good deal. They're also notorious for running out of advertised specials like anything frozen. So you know there must be a lot of locals shopping here. Seriously, how far would you travel with Ben & Jerry's? They have a great deli section which is where I'll hit sometimes on the way home. They have some nice salads, pre-made sandwiches, chicken & pizza. If you don't feel like cooking supper some night, come on down, as they have all the fixin's. If you're kooking for speedy cashiers, clutter-free aisles or anything 'Swanson', you'd best head down to another location. read more

with a fabulously well and freshly stocked Loblaws and small, but also well stocked sobers nearby, and similarly priced, this metro is last on my list. From the beginning, this has been a very badly laid out store and dingy. I find they always seem to be out of stock, esp sale items and thatI have to look at fruit/veg carefully, because, not everytime, but 7 out of 10 times, there is something either moldy or mushy. Like today I went to look for blueberries and the first 4 that I looked at had spoiling blueberries in the container. I am writing this because today again, I went for 5 specific items and out of my list, 3 were out of stock. read more

Great location and good salad bar. Only wish they had more variety. It pricey but still less expensive than a salad from Freshii
