I, like many of you who are reading this review right now, have been searching for what we have…read moredeemed "The Holy Grail" of mechanics, someone we can trust, someone who has the skills and knowledge needed, and even more importantly, someone who will not overcharge and take advantage of us like almost every other mechanic I have ever encountered throughout my life. I have a 1994 Ford F-150 show truck and I needed new front brakes (pads and rotors) and I needed to have the rear differential gasket replaced as it started leaking and finally, I needed to have my third brake light socket replaced. I took it to the"popular" auto repair shop in Colonia, the father and son one. They quoted me $2019 for all three jobs which included all parts, labor, and taxes. I thought that was ABSURD! I went one block down the road, to Lu Auto LLC on Inman Avenue in Colonia, NJ and asked him what he would charge me for the brakes and the rear differential gasket. He came out to look at my truck, knew exactly what he was talking about, told me that he would be using premium parts and all but guaranteed he would do an amazing job. There was something about his manner and shop that made me instantaneously trust him and I made the appointment for the following Monday. I dropped it off at 9:00 AM and he told me that he would have it ready by 12:30 PM. Later that afternoon, he texted me that my truck was ready and I went to pick it up. The truck was still spotless as one of my greatest fears in dropping any of my cars off to auto repair shops is that they always seem to come back with a new scratch somewhere or a grease stain in the cabin- not this shop though! The repairs were all done, he even changed the differential oil for me. The bill for everything was only $700! He didn't even charge me for fixing the third brake light socket as it was a simple job for him that only took him a couple of minutes. Can you imagine the shop one block away wanted to charge me $1300 MORE than Lu's shop and they would have used the exact same parts as Lu's (this is a common excuse by expensive auto repair shops, claiming how they have to charge more because they only use "premium" parts.) When it comes to auto repair shops, I am not a price shopper, I am a trust shopper and I KNOW that I have found my shop now. I wrote this long story to help all of the people out there who are just like me and are searching for that trust-worthy mechanic, all to no avail. Well, he's been found and he is at 162 Inman Avenue in Colonia, NJ.

EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!…read more So I typically don't go outside the dealer for any repairs however, I felt like I needed to go immediately as I thought I had a nail in my tire. When I get there, I automatically assume there's a nail in my tire and ask them to plug it. The gentleman checked the tire and told me I didn't have a nail and if I was still having problems- to bring it back. I ended up bringing it back the next day because it sounded like something was in my tire. When I got there, another guy took my car, drove it around the block and then put my car on the lift. It was determined that I had a dent in my rim so they said they would check for rims and call me back. The kicker is - when they put my car on the lift and spun the wheels, whatever was in the tires fell out (not actually in the tire but somewhere in between). I no longer heard a noise- so I told the guy and asked him how much - he was super humble and said I didn't owe him anything because they didn't repair anything. My dealer !!!?? Wanted $250 just to LOOK at it. Because of that one noble gesture - they found a new client in me! They tell you what you need to- don't try to rip you off or overcharge you - this is an honest establishment/ I would definitely recommend!

I used them during an emergency the 1st time and they fixed the problem, but not even a day later…read moresomething else started giving me trouble. I didn't think anything of it. I took the car in to my regular auto shop and they fixed it. A couple of months later a totally different issue occurred so I took it back to them and they fixed it, before I even left the shop a loud banging noise that was not there before, so I went back in and told him about the noise and he said to bring it In later because they were about to close. He said no worries it's an easy fix the latch behind the ac may have just cracked. It's common he said. I told him that I would bring it the following week and he said no problem. I brought it in the next week and another gentleman was at the counter. I don't know how but I knew he would try to haggle me. Which he absolutely did. I told him to just take the car out the shop since I realized I would never stop coming back. Never again!

My vehicle's (Benz C300) air suspension system locked up after the compressor failed. I did all of…read morethe repairs myself, but needed the diagnostic scanner to do a vehicle calibration, which was the last piece to fixing this issue. I'm no mechanic, but I've studied the air suspension system on Benzes over the last 3 months, and have become pretty well versed in how this thing operates now. Initially had an appointment at KDM at Talmadge Rd. for 8 am. When I got there, I saw one mechanic who had like 3 cars parked in the bay, and a lady, presumably his wife, by the cashier. The lady asked me to park my vehicle, and come inside. She had me fill out a form, and then told me to leave the car. I told her that I spoke with the mechanic when I made the appointment, who said it would take 1-2 hours to run the scanner, so I planned on waiting for him to do it on the spot. She essentially told me that is not how they operate, and that they would call me to pick up the car when it was ready. I told her no thanks, and left. I then called Mercedes Benz's authorized repair shop, and they were all booked solid. I called about 12 shops that specialize in German auto repair, and most were either booked up or wanted to overcharge (one shop quoted me 4 hours!) By the Grace of God, I called Quality 1st Auto Repair and spoke to the owner. He told me to bring my car in this afternoon, so he could take a look. He ran the scanner, which unlocked the vehicle's suspension, and now my car is fully functioning again. He also only charged me for an hour of service, which was entirely reasonable. His scanner also picked up on another error code, which he voluntarily pointed out, so that I was aware there was some other issues with the car. He suggested that I have this other issued looked into ASAP, which could cause further problems if left untreated. Admittedly, I downplayed the error code, but I'll probably try to tackle this other problem as my next DIY. Anyway, cannot praise this place enough. They have a full-fledged operation, nice garage with several workers, heavy machinery, lots of nice cars they're working on, so these guys must be doing something right. They also carry state-of-the-art diagnostic scanning tools (which is key to helping you save money). For example, I brought my car to this other rinky-dinky repair shop who did not have a good scanner, and so they just kept guessing at what was wrong with the car, and telling me I had to replace different parts, so I took the car back to work on it myself. A telltale sign that a repair shop does not know what they're doing or are just guessing at the problem is when they keep asking for "more time" to figure out a problem. With the right diagnostic tool, a mechanic should be able to tell you what's wrong with your car in minutes. I guess this is all a roundabout way of saying that if I could do it all over again, I would have brought my car here in the first place. I will definitely be returning to this place for other work that needs to be done.
