The actual manicure itself was actually pleasant. I give the star for the fact that I didn't bleed, she was gentle and the job was well done- for two days. Here is a photo of two days later and the shellac is already rising and chipping. In the two days I have not had my hands in water for too long or done anything intense (no cleaning or long baths). I made an appointment well in advance to show up and have to wait 20 minutes. On a day without having somewhere to get to, it may be okay. But with things to do and thinking I planned ahead by making an appointment, bad start. So not only was I late to where I needed to be and rushed my day afterwords but it was also a complete waste of money. I like to pay for good service and with all these reviews I thought I hit jackpot. Disappointing. read more

My feet are sore from how aggressively they pumiced my feet and the SOFT part of my feet.. she scrubbed my toes so hard one of them is now scraped and bleeding. I also left still entirely covered in scrub granules that were just slathered in lotion..... I thought a $20 pedi was too good to be true but the reviews were so good!! Turns out it was too good to be true because the website info is false. It was $30. read more

This is by far the only place to get your nails done. The staff is super courteous, friendly, and professional. They treated my 4 year old daughter so special when we went in to get her nails done on Christmas Eve (her special treat for being good and taking all her medicine after an ear infection.) What an amazing job! They were so nice even though my daughter kept moving while they drew snowflakes on her tiny nails. I will NEVER go anywhere else! read more

Horrible staff. Horrible job. I've gone here twice and both times my nails have broken in less than a week because their cheap with the powder. They are worried about saving the acrylic powder than giving us a proper base nail. They suck at shaping. Even painting nails. And it's impossible to breath, DOESNT seem like they have proper venting. read more

I havent been to a good place to get my nails done since I've been in the East Coast. All the places I've been to claim to be cheap, but when I get there the prices are insane and the job is whatever. Metro Nails, on the other hand, is a whole other story. This place is actually cheap and the quality of work done is amazing. Carol was the woman who did my nails. She was very sweet and professional. While doing my nails, she would try to start a conversation or ask if I like what she is doing. You don't get that often. Usually people just do your nails and let you do, but goodness, Carol did an amazing job. When Carol was doing my hands, she cut the side of my skin too deep so it started bleeding. It wasn't a lot, so I really didn't care, but she kept on apologizing and said she felt really bad and took a long time to mend the wound (which is what you're suppose to do...). I'm mentioning this because her professionalism is on par! Got a mani and pedi. Job was well done and thorough! Totally recommend this place! $2 off with student ID!!! read more

Had made appointments as soon as they opened for later on in the day I was greeted with attitude as soon as we walked through the door waited over a half hour to be seated in a chair to get started for a full set I asked for a matte finish and coffin shape I also asked for them extremely short because I do go longer in between fillings and I tape at work she laughed at me and told me it wouldn't look right and proceeded to do what length she wanted. Halfway through I asked if there was a possibility of having a glow in the dark topcoat she said yes and I told her I would love that instead of plain matte She said okay and never used The glow in the dark but charged me for it and the actual nail and cuticle so far apart I will probably go get a fill in another week and I just went yesterday... not to mention theyre very bumpy. when I tried to put my card in the ATM at ate my card and when I asked for a pair of tweezers or pliers to get it out because my hands were oily and they kept yelling at me not to touch the machine even though my hands were not on the machine my friend and I came here for a girls day while she is in town for business It was not enjoyable we felt like we were inconveniences and I will never go again. I'll never ever ever leave a review for anything and it really doesn't take much to make me happy I don't get out much but this almost made me cry $60 for this? K read more

Overall opinions: it's a pretty safe bet for a manicure or pedicure. Everything is professional and employees do a good job. I went with my gf to get a pedicure here and we walked in, waited 5 minutes, and got started right away. Pros: I would say it's never too busy so you can always seem to expect to be able to get a walk in spot. They also do Gels and really friendly. Cons: the lady at the desk when I went was not ignoring us a bit. She was distracted talking in her phone or texting people. My gf and I also started at different times and ended at different times which meant we didn't get to talk and sit next to eat other the whole time. It's also a bit pricey for just a pedicure - $25 dollars each. read more

This place is amazing! No wonder why the star rating is high. I got a full set for 28$ (price might be higher if you get designs). All the employees were very nice and welcomed me when I walked through the door. The girl who did my nails took her time and when she was doing my cuticles she was very gentle. Places that I've gone to before are rough and try to rush the process. I'm very happy with my visit and this will now be my go-to nail salon. I just recommend making an appointment because it gets kinda busy. I didn't make one and had to wait around 30-45 minutes. There is an atm machine in there just Incase you don't have cash to top because they can't put the tip on cards. read more

Should have written this earlier! I moved here late last year, had some misses on finding a good nail salon. This place is fantastic! Really love this place, so happy to have found them. read more

I decided to give them another try and get shellac manicure the service was ok. The manicurist started to go a bit deep on my cuticles which caused some blood. I let her know and she was more careful. My nails looked great, however less than a week later and I am started to see the tips of my nail and a little crack. Considering how they used CND polish I am not sure how this happened. read more

I'd been coming here for about 4 months. Every time I got very different service. Employees are very kind, and do good work, occasionally I get someone who doesn't clean my nails up well (nail polish messy around cuticles or a weird shape to my nails). Not a bad option, but also not the best in my opinion. Maybe it's best that when you find a good nail tech, you stick with that person. read more

I got an acrylic fill on 4/10 at 10am. She did a good job, I loved the color and shape. At 11pm on 4/10, one of my nails completely came off. A fill usually last me 3-4 weeks. This one barely lasted 24 hours. Like are you kidding me?? I am leaving for a trip tomorrow I don't have time to go back and get it fixed and honestly I shouldn't have to. She should've put more of the acrylic powder on, it should've been done right the first time. I will most definitely not be coming back. read more

I've been going to Metro Nails for years now for my acrylics and have never been disappointed. This is the place to go if you want great nails done by very talented technicians. I had initially received a manicure from Metro Nails approximately 2 months ago. I decided to try a different salon in town, grave mistake. I received a manicure worse than if I had painted my own nails. Not only did I have polish on my cuticles, my cuticles were a mess. I had scheduled a pedicure at Metro Nails for the same day. The ladies at Metro Nails were agreeable to try and clean up this manicure mess! Ultimately, the manicure was not salvageable, but Nara still performed an amazing job by redoing my manicure! She also provided a spectacular pedicure as well. They were kind enough to fit me in, despite having a busy day! Thank you to the team, I will absolutely be back! read more

I really am unclear how this nail salon has such a high rating, for one the pedicure menu on their website does not align with what they offer in-house. They are completely unsanitary, the pedicure tubs are not lined in plastic and I didn't realize until I was halfway through, because this is a standard sanitary procedure at nail salons at this point and they do not have their tools soaking in barbicide or in a sanitization bag. The nail tech rushed the pedicure the shaping and paint job was sloppy and when I told her that's not what I was looking for she proceeded to tell me that isn't what I needed based on my foot. Overall this is not a 4 star nail salon, but I am just used to a different caliber of pedicure experience and this was lack luster pedicure and a waste of money. Please don't waste your time and find another place! read more

I'm very picky when it comes to nail salons. I've had the same nail technician for 4 years, and after moving to providence it became very much out of the way. After trying several shops in providence, Metro Nails is now my go to. I've been coming here for over a year now. My regular technician is So, and if she happens to not be available I see Ross who is also great. I come every two weeks (my nails grow fast, others would probably last an additional week) for my gel manicure and a pedicure every 4-6 weeks. Not only is she great, my nails stay looking great majority of the time for the entire two weeks and I work with my hands. She is quick, in a good way! They have a great color selection. They have a lot of girls working. They are very clean despite not being the fanciest of shops. And the prices are reasonable. $28 for a gel manicure I believe. Tip: make an appointment, this place being so good means it's very busy! They are all friendly and will do their best to get you in! read more

DO NOT GET DIP DONE OR REMOVED HERE. Overall they're a fine salon for gel or paint but service is hit or miss. I had gel done for my wedding a while back and it was perfection and the tech was amazing. This most recent time, they rushed and the tech was incredibly distracted. She was so busy talking during my pedicure she cut my toenail so short it bled (I treated with antibiotic cream at home to be safe) and she neglected to trim my cuticles. Specific to the dip, I had dip on my fingers and instead of soaking the nails longer she took a buffer and scrapped off the extra dip.And she did it so aggressively that I could feel a strong, almost burning heat in my nail beds. Currently, my nails are so thin and weak that they're sensitive to the touch. They were completely filed away! I've talked with other people who get dip regularly and this is not supposed to happen when dip is removed properly. I've had good service here, but recently I found the techs are distracted to a point of actually hurting you. read more

My visit to Metro Nails was pretty subpar. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside and there is not a lot of room to move around at peak hours. I was debating between getting black or a neon yellow/green nail color but they didn't have any neon yellow or green options. I was also surprised to find out that their regular express pedicure doesn't include cuticle care. That's basically paying for a nail trim and polish... I can do that myself at home for free. I could tell that the worker I had was new because she forgot to put base coat and then another worker came over, took off my polish, and did it all over again. I have definitely had better experiences at a nail salon. Plus, the prices at Metro Nails were higher than I expected. I have been to Z Nails, though, and enjoyed my experience there. read more

I was having a nice visit and then my cuticle was cut to bleeding. The tech noticed tried wiping it away to finish applying the paint and then gave up and let it bleed until it spilled on the disposable sandal. Nobody came to help me clean it up at the end of my visit and I was left looking for something to clean the blood and somewhere besides the bin at the drying station to toss the sandals so nobody else had to touch them. Anyone can make a mistake, it's what happened afterward that made me decide to update my earlier review. read more

I stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon and was in need of just a regular manicure. The salon was rather busy and there were people waiting. I was from out of town and had an event that evening and needed my nails painted. I waited about 15 minutes until someone was able to do my nails. It took the tech all of 10 minutes, maybe.. to do my entire manicure. The color was nice but the nail polish was chipping the next day and almost completely off by Friday. most manicures i have ever had have lasted longer than 2 days. Nice people, but service quality isn't good. Would go somewhere else if I was back in town. read more

Came here in February but finally getting around to posting this review. Long story short, I wasn't thrilled. I had an appointment for 12:30 but when I showed up, 4 other people were allowed to go ahead of me and I still waited around 40 minutes to be seated. I am assuming those people were waiting ahead of me but still, I had an appointment. The girl at the counter had no idea about the gel "Luxury" pedicure and "Metro Signature Pedicure" when I asked her if it was worth the $15 extra and what the difference was, she said "I don't know, I've never had it done but you can read it" (as she pointed to the wall). Ok... well I had just read it and I couldn't figure it out. One has a cool gel and wax booties, one doesn't? I finally decide on "the second most expensive one" (as in, not the most expensive, but the one right under that). This was very confusing to the girl at the counter, as she told the person doing my nails that I wanted the most expensive pedicure. I had to keep telling them, "no, not the most expensive one, the one right above it"... (as I couldn't recall the name in the moment) This really caused alot of confusion and I should've gotten up out of the chair and read the name off the chart for them but at that point, my feet were in bubbling water. The girl who did my nails was very very nice, but truly had no idea as to what was included in the Luxury pedicure. She had to keep asking other people what else she needed to use and then people were going in the back room trying to dig out the extra things necessary (callus eliminator, oil etc) I found out later that she doesn't work there and was just filling in for the day and that made more sense because for a while there I was just confused. The nails came out nice but two nails peeled right off within 24 hours of the pedicure, presumably because of the oil not being fully removed from the nails before the gel was applied? I didn't bother going back for repair because my time was worth more than that so I just repainted the nails with regular polish. read more

I am obsessed with this spot. I love the location, the young and light-hearted atmosphere, and it's the ONLY nail salon I've found that my gel manicure stays on without chip. I love Metro! I've been going for about a year now and go pretty consistently every 2 weeks. I try to stick to a week day (they're open until 7) mainly because it gets pretty crowded on the weekend. You get a different girl every time for the most part but they're all pretty great. However yesterday I went and surprisingly had a girl I've never gotten before and she did AMAZING. It's the best gel I've ever received , she took her time and put a lot of effort into my nails. Unfortunately she didn't have a name tag on ( most do ) and I forgot to ask her name! I will definitely try to have her again in 2 weeks, however she did so well on my nails they'll probably last longer than that! read more

I really needed to get out of the office for lunch today, so I decided to scoot my way over to Metro Nails for the first time. I always pass it and tell myself to go there some time, but it wasn't until today I actually took myself up on that thought. And I'm so glad I did. First impressions: When I walked in, I was greeted by smiling faces and everyone saying hello. It wasn't an overbearing greeting, it was just nice. I was nervous because I saw a lot of women getting pedicures so I figured my wait for a manicure would be a while, but I was seen right away (well, after I spent a few minutes picking out my color). The salon also didn't smell. Ever walk into a nail place and feel smacked in the face with fumes you know will most likely kill you? That didn't happen here and I was not only surprised, but grateful. Finally, the place just looked clean. Totally put together, organized and well-maintained. I was feeling good about this venture of mine. The nail technician was fantastic. She was sweet, talkative - but not overly so - and she didn't judge me for having small nails, which almost all other nail places do. We talked about the weather, her school work and random topics. She was focused and friendly and gave a great manicure. The hand massage nearly made me fall out of my chair because it was so nice and the polish looks fantastic. My hands also didn't feel greasy after the whole process, and normally I walk out of salons feeling like I have a film over my hands. Instead I felt clean, soft and freshly polished. I only get manicures/pedicures every once in a blue moon when I need a pick me up, but this place may have changed that. I won't go all the time, but maybe once a month and definitely for special occasions. And as it turns out, going on a Friday afternoon during the lunch hour isn't a bad time for walk-ins. I look forward to going back, and I hope I get the same nail tech. Next time I'll get her name and update this post so you can show her love, too. read more
