Stopped for breakfast after a medical procedure. We were seated right away (at 8.30am on a Tuesday) and our waitress was wonderful. Sweet and engaging. Food came quickly and to order. The poached eggs were a bit overdone and the hollandaise tasted a bit different, but everything else was pretty good. The English muffin was perfectly toasted and the avocado and Canadian ham was a good serving size. The hash brown were really good! We requested crispy, and they did them just right. Not burnt for once! It was a quiet and calm atmosphere though I imagine it's a lot louder and busier on weekends. Although we were visitors at the time, the Metro Diner was a great breakfast spot. The food was always fresh and delicious. Our waitress Tonya was phenomenal, she even remembered us the next day (impressive after all those people, hours and tables). There is lots of parking in front of the restaurant as it is in a shared plaza. There wasn't a wait for a table which was nice. It has some cute decor and while it has a diner feel, it's not a greasy diner. The service was good and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they had gluten free toast as I didn't see it on the menu. I got a side of hollandaise sauce and it was really good. I absolutely love coming here, but I must admit, Tonya is the main reason my family and I keep returning. My family and I frequent the Metro Diner at Tulsa hills at minimum once a month and we always ask for Tonya- and we would gladly wait for her. I'm sure other servers here are wonderful too but Tonya is consistently amazing. Honestly I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to write a review. When we come, we order big and Tonya gets it every time. I usually get the chicken and waffles with added side eggs and home fries. Their home fries are soooooo delicious. Their fried chicken is incredibly juicy with incredible, crispy skin. Not to mention, they always have amazing flavored coffees and teas of the day. My sister and I always opt for both. Today as I'm writing this review we got the cinnamon crumble coffee and a sweet peach tea. Their peach tea is so delicious. Tonya talked us into trying their dinner service which we did. We got just about one of everything. Very delicious. My family and I do really love coming for breakfast or brunch. Today we tried something new and had their club sandwich and fried chicken sandwich. Both were so good but that fried chicken sandwich was out of this world. I went to this location for the first time, and I really enjoyed it. The service was quick it was clean. The waitress was super friendly I like you can see in the kitchen and see them making the food fresh. I got the meatloaf and this is the only place in town besides my mom's house that I will eat meatloaf it's not traditional it doesn't have ketchup, so I really enjoyed it. It has gravy and it's rich And more than enough food for two people. I got a side salad as one of my size for $1.50 more and it was a wonderful salad. It really stood out and then I was able to get coleslaw instead of mashed potatoes because I was trying to be low carb and oh my gosh some of the best coleslaw I've had. The salad dressing, I believe was also made from scratch, really good ranch. The Tulsa Hills location is close by, and I was delighted to see that they had Fish and Chips as a menu item. The first 3 times I ate there, that's the item I ordered. The portion was generous. The fish always had a crunchy but not greasy beer batter. The seasoned fries and cole slaw were good. This time I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, because I love grits and wanted to try their version. I ordered it without the bacon, as you can see by the receipt. However, when I got home, the bacon was there. It didn't detract from the dish tho'. It was delicious and satisfying. The Lemon Blueberry Bread Pudding was absolutely fantastic! I took 1 star away because they added the bacon when I had ordered it without bacon and they are not a dog friendly place. read more

I decided on breakfast for lunch and ordered a Western omelette,hash browns and toast. It was absolutely delicious! The omelette was chockful of veggies and ham. So I've been here before, food is good, normally excellent service. However when we call to get a wait time, we are told no wait. We arrive seconds later (I called from the parking lot) and there's a 20+ minute wait. The hostess stand is staffed by three hostesses, the waiting area is full of parties waiting to eat, and I see at least three tables that are empty and have no settings. My steak and scramble bowl, a new item, was tasty, but the hash-browns on the bottom were cooked so hard it was like sticks. While strolling through Tulsa one fall day, looking for nephew's birthday presents, my husband came across the metro diner and decided to give it a go. We we greeted and seated in a nice intimate booth for two. Our waitress came and got our drink order(sweet tea for the hubby, and a mimosa for me) while we looked over the menu. Once we got everything figured out, and after waiting for our waitress to come back, another sweet waitress got our order put in and brought out to us.(To which I am grateful she was paying attention, while servicing her tables, Bravo! mam.) For our meal the hubby chose the meatloaf with green beans(a little heavy on the salt though.He gave me a bean to try, that is how I know) and mashed potatoes. For my option to go with my mimosa, I tried one of their specials for fall the Pumpkin Belgian waffle with candied pecans, and cinnamon butter minus the cream cheese icing,(those tend to get icky sweet I have noticed when I am out, and I have made my share too.) I also had a side of 3 turkey sausage links.Everything was yummy.The candied pecans were so worth it.(I got to thinking while I was eating how could I make this at home, and the one thing I came up with was to incorporate the candied pecans and cinnamon butter in the batter. The avocado toast is delicious! Mashed avocado with tomato slices arrives on two slices of soft grain bread cut into four half pieces - one of the lower calorie items as well (yet filling). The scrambled eggs were moist and fluffy, not choppy and dry like many places. The seasoned fries were YUM!! I stole several from my fiancee's plate because they were so good. Our waitress was friendly, and I enjoyed the 90s music. 4 stars as drink refill service was a little slow, and the mimosas had way too much OJ. I asked my waitress for less OJ in the second one, and she looked at me like I was crazy.
