The decor is like a really corny First Watch (live laugh love signage and pictures of measuring cups filled with grains) perhaps with little more edge. And there are straw wrappers and bits of food on the floor, kind of like the Texas Roadhouse peanut situation, except it's not peanuts. Shortly after I was seated, they swept the floor, so I'm assuming it wasn't intentional lol. So, yeah. First Watch on crack? Maybe? First watch's angsty step sibling? First Watch with obnoxiously loud music and a little harder of an edge. And honestly, First Watch and Morning Fuel are part of the same genre. You know what you're getting. And the genre is over priced diner. As far as the food goes, I got the stuffed French toast with blueberry drizzle, and it was really good. It did its job. Nothing spectacular, but a perfectly good breakfast. Overall, I'd say Morning Fuel is pretty average, but these places are kind of a genre unto themselves, and I can see why people like them. It was also a little cheaper than First Watch, which I like but don't really go to. This would not be a recurring haunt for me by any means, but I think it will be for some people. So if you like Evanescence and nu-metal more than you like the Jonas Brothers and other corny folky music, that's what they're playing at Morning Fuel. Everything was delicious, even the cut strawberry that garnishes the plate. The sausage patty is thick enough that I'm glad the platter is served with a more robust knife than the spreading knife included in the flatware bundle on the table. It makes assembling a perfect bite possible. The restaurant is clean and bright. The service was quick and friendly and dining alone was not at all awkward. My adventure buddy and I arrived around 5pm and I was honestly surprised to see only one other person inside when we walked in. We grabbed a booth by the front door and looked over the menu again to finalize our plan. Since it was our first visit, we decided to order a few things and split them so we could try more. We ordered the loaded chili dog topped with chili, cheese, onions, and mustard ($5.25) and one of the Big Block Burgers -- specifically the Joy's Burger -- which came with grilled onions and mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, LA sauce, Swiss cheese, and fresh cut fries ($12.99). Naturally we added bacon for an extra $0.99 because that felt like the right decision. We also each grabbed a Diet Pepsi (to maintain some illusion of balance) for $2.50 each.
