I took my pick up truck to Michael at Method Sound because the other company in Costa Mesa that originally installed my system did a lousy job. They were cheaper but it ended up costing me much more by trying them first. I took my truck to Michael and he simply asked what it was I wanted to accomplish and why was I unhappy with the first atttempt at having the system installed. He listened well and took the time to explain the details of what went wrong and how he was going to correct it. He never tried to upsell me or push something on me that I didn't want. He was very professional with his approach which earned a lot of credibility in my mind. Michael charged slightly more than the first company but the quality of his services and professionalism were 10 times better. He corrected the work, changed out some wiring, fine tuned everything in great depth, and did some extra work that the first company promised to do but never completed. I now have the system I wanted and I'm very happy with his work. I would highly recommend Michael at Method Sound for any car stereo installation or advice. read more

Sounds amazing!!! Much better than expected. I bought a 12" woofer than was waaaaay too big for the trunk of my 68 Mustang. He traded me a 10" of much higher quality and credited me for my woofer. Built the custom box. Customized the rear package tray with a hole (understatement) and custom grill that matches original. Did I mention it sounds amazing? He spent a lot of time tuning things. I wanted to add my praise for Method Sound and it's owner Michael. After reading the reviews here and on CitySearch, I took my 08 Mini Cooper Clubman in because the stock stereo was sounding pretty crappy. Michael listened to the sound system, had some ideas (a number of options, not just one) and asked if I could leave the car for a morning so he could really design a good solution. His initial idea included an amplifier and sub woofer but was out of my budget. No problem. He proposed upgrading the speakers in the front of the car as a Phase 1 and then if I still wanted to upgrade to the amp and subs I could do that later.He stayed in contact with me as he said he would, through the entire process and the end result was stunning and under budget! Michael is a craftsman. He obviously takes great pride in his work. It's apparent in everything from his shop which is as clean a shop as I've ever seen to the state of the car when he gives it back. He also knows sound and acoustics. My advice would be to go in and talk to him without any preconceived ideas of what you are going to do. The result will be superior. Now this is a GREAT FIND! Owned by a top pro, this one man shop is not only freeway close and convenient, but clean, fully equipped and run by a clean cut man with loads of skill and integrity. No job too big or too small. He doesn't cherry pick and although he can put award winning sound systems together, he won't shy away from a small job when you just want better sound but don't want to sink a whole lot of money into the car at this point. He took the Mark Levinson speakers in my 2003 Lexus convertible and replaced them with speakers for less than the other quotes I got, and the sound is SO MUCH BETTER than what I had before.. in fact FABULOUS. I'm going to preface this with what Michael from Method Sound told me over the phone when I first approached him: he competes on quality, not price. For those of you who love your cars and are willing to go the extra mile to have a great sound system, this is the place to go, hands down. I took my brand new Mazda3 to Michael for a sub and amp addition. Michael talked to me about what the end goal was, and made some additional suggestions on getting the best bang for the buck. I was somewhat flexible with my budget, so I went ahead and listened to his suggestions...and boy am I glad I did. The difference between the old and the new is astounding! I loved my new car before...but now...oh man! You can tell that Michael loves what he does. He took care of my car like it was his own. And when I left the shop? He cleaned my window, did some quick cleaning & care on my dash, and left the car better than he found it (sound aside). I haven't done any work from this shop (was planning to till I found I need to replace my suspension), however, when I went to inqure some informaiton, Michael was super nice and willing to help me out to choose what navigation I should purchase and what to add on my car to get better sound!! Excellent work! I had a full speaker upgrade on my 08 BMW 535i (CDT Audio Gold series) and let me tell you, it sounds great! Crispy highs and nice smooth bass. Mike is a beast when it comes to car audiophiles, replaced my stock bmw head unit with an aftermarket Sony, he was able to salvage and re wire all of my speakers. Had several other places tell me I would lose the use of the tweeters and mids, found out they were probably just not capable or plain lazy. Back in 2010 I traded down my 10 yr old Audi for an SUV. I had no complaints, but I sure did miss the sound from my Audi. I lived with my 3rd party installation of a Navigation system/Kenmore radio but it lost radio signal in areas my Audi had not. I had to plug in my iPhone with an accessory cord to hear my stations, which was a big hassle when I was in a hurry to get to work. Long story short, the screen finally died. I keep my cars for 10 years, so I needed this to get fixed to get me through my next 5 years. I read Method Sound reviews and decided to give them a try. I met with Mike and told him all my woes. He recommended a couple of proven selections for me to choose from and also said he suspected the 3rd party wiring had not been done correctly which was why my radio stations were losing signal. He had my car done by the next day and confirmed that he had also fixed the wiring which indeed had not been done correctly. So 5 years of updated technology was staring me in the face. Not only had the wiring been corrected, but now I have HD stations! and seamless connecton with a multitude of iPhone,Droid, or USB devices. I know this is current technology, but it was SO nice to be brought up to date. Oh, the best part is that my radio listening is the better than its ever been. Mike is the most genuine salesman I've met and although I did not end up having him install my car stereo due to my own personal low end budget I can tell that he puts a solid amount of time and care into stereo installation. I would definitely recommend him over anyone I've talked to and will most definitely be going directly to him once I increase my budget. It's not that Mike is overly priced, he actually budgeted with me and made the most practical outline for what he could do! However, I am a student and did not have much to begin with. Secondly, I went into re-installation of my stereo with an ignorant mindset towards necessary cost. Mike is awesome, he runs this shop by himself and has the customers best interest at mind! I came in after having my old Bluetooth stereo stolen and my entire interior track was completely destroyed, but this guy being the genius that he is was able to not only repair but build a new track for me and in a very reasonable price range! Honestly I have had so much work done to my car in the past and Mike has surpassed every expectation! Not only that but the guy is very genuine and friendly and he wants to work with you and within your price range! I only one bad review and the guy doesn't even talk about his work rather personally attacks Mike so I wouldn't trust that review! A really cool thing I learned while talking with him is that people come from States as far as Illinois to get their stereos and amps built. Method Sound is as good as it gets and let me explain why. From the first time I walked in, Michael was helpful, knowledgeable, and fully explained everything that would take place from my decision to to use him through the entire process and the end result (the most important part of any install). First visit: Michael detailed an audio system for my 2012 Nissan 370Z Touring with BOSE audio and fully explained what he had in mind as well as what I already had in mind as to what I wanted. Together, we came up with a system that I believed would meet my sound expectations as well as my financial pocketbook. Second visit: We further finalized the system and I put down a $1,000 deposit to hold my place in line for my install. Third visit: Dropped the car off, Michael told me it would take about 3-4 weeks for the install to be complete. Fourth visit: Michael called me up and asked if I would like to see the progress on my install while the interior was disassembled so he could show me what he was doing behind the interior panels (wiring, insulation, and technical skills nobody gets to see once the installation is complete). I really like my car so I was eager to see what he was doing behind the interior panels. It was during this visit that I realized that I had made the right decision to go with Method Sound for my audio system. Michael's work was second to none when it came to attention to detail, and caring for your vehicle as though it was his own. The price of admission may be a bit higher than normal mobile audio shops, but the work being done here is more than worth it. Final visit: Michael had my car ready for me to hear the final product and I was blown away by how much Method Sound exceeded my expectations. The equipment Michael installed in my car along with an Audison digital sound processor sound better than I could have imagined. There was absolutely no rattles either, and believe me I was trying my best to find rattles. Method Sound is now the only place I will go for my audio. I'm writing this review a good 8 months after my install so I could have a better long term sample to inform readers and I still can't find anything negative to say about Method Sound. I can't believe there are still no rattles either with my system loud enough to be heard for blocks. I hope this review is helpful to those who truly care about their vehicle and are terrified at the thought of having someone disassemble their cherished vehicle and not put it back together correctly. He asked about my budget and built a system around that. No canned auto sound configurations (i.e. door and rear speakers with a sub and amp(s) = $XX) Each install is custom based on your budget and sound preferences. I was confident he could do quality work so I setup an install appointment. Only thing was it took longer than he had promised but overall very quality work and worth the wait. Awhile back I embarked upon a search for someone to upgrade the sound system in my Corvette, a task most seemed unwilling to attempt or even discuss. I eventually and fortuitously happened upon Method Sound. Method Sound upgraded the sound system, including the addition of a subwoofer and Mosconi amp. I also recently had them add a separate control knob for the subwoofer and amp. All of the work was meticulous. The end product not only sounds super but is first rate in appearance. They were very thorough in explaining the options and process. They were polite, knowledgeable and very forthcoming and honest about the installation. Stay far away from this guy. I went to Method sound after reading some positive reviews online. At first he seemed very meticulous and professional. After discussing pricing he tells me he will call me right back in 10 minutes to set an appointment. Doesn't call me for 2 days. Finally i call him and get my car in his shop. What was supposed to be a one day headunit, backup camera project turned into a weeklong nightmare I've been dealing with. His install was shody, he didn't follow any directions as to where I wanted my mic or camera installed, my headunit is not secured in place, it moves around side to side, and the backup camera isn't wired correctly at all. He did not include a dash kit, which was included in the price. I over paid this pompous asshole of a business man to hack my car up, and when I asked him to fix it, he asks me if that is a serious question. Worst audio install i've ever had and I have had systems in my cars since the 90's. I'd rather deal with somebody who's not gonna mess up your car, leave out parts that you paid for and act like a complete jerk when asked to fix his mistakes. Save your time and money. read more
