I like to do a bit of due diligence and research before investing when it comes to consumer electronics as well as other purchases. I have a 2018 Tesla model s p100d. I found out that that year they put in sound systems in all their cars. And I had the upgraded version. Through googling, I came across a guy named Scott who I thought was a car audio installer for consumers. Well, he's not your ordinary installer. His jobs are 50k to 250k custom epic systems for high-end clients who do audio competitions. Never knew there was such a thing. But he told me, there's only one place in Southern California that I would trust my car to get an audio upgrade. He gave me the number to Beach Audio, and told me to ask for Tom, the owner. Had a great conversation with Tom. First time on the phone. I think he's 45 years in business. A veteran with tremendous experience. But what's most important, the quality of the products, the quality of the service and installation, but also the Integrity. Tom and I talked about a guy, that he is familiar with, that I almost went with, but did not because I smelled something fishy. The guy I almost went with, only sold packages of audio upgrades, and never would give the name of the brand of the speakers or amplifiers that he would be using. If you have any brand vehicle, but especially a Tesla, which I never thought you could actually upgrade because it's a rolling computer, and I was fearful that I would have an issue with a car, or Tesla warranty etc. But I looked into that, if you upgrade your sound system, it has no effect on the warranty legally. Did my research there as well. If you talk to one of the Tesla robots, they will tell you different cuz they don't know anything. No offense to Tesla. They make a great product, but the workers are not all educated on the finer points of the automobile industry. I am since I've been driving for over 40 years, and been cars since I was 14. Tom is also well educated in this department as well. If you were looking for excellent service, quality products, and value pricing, look no further than Beach Auto Sound. Came here to get a dash cam installed and what a nightmare that was. Took my car a total of 6 times to this shop for the same dashcam that they could not get right. They didn't know how to connect all 3 cameras for some reason and I know nothing about this and had to show them how to connect all 3 cameras since they said I was missing a cord even though it was brand new. The rear camera was facing straight down at the ground after the 6th trip back to this place so they never even got it right I had to redo it my self at home. If you want horrible customer service and bad workers that have no clue what they are doing go here. My wife was getting a new stereo put in her car and I had mapped out with the employee exactly what needed to be done, got the quote for service, so she could just drop her car off. Then when it was just her, he told her all the reasons he couldn't do it, and told her it was going to be considerably more expensive than what he told me. She called me in tears, And when he saw me drive up, he came running outside, said he didn't realize she was my wife, apologized to me, not my wife, and then gave us the original quote and said the original price was fine. I was recommended here by a friend, I met with Alex and he was so helpful and very nice. I got there at 8am and got in line, mind you I am an hour early there was 5 people in front of me. We went over the different type of tints for my 2021 4 Runner. I went withe the ceramic tint. I already have factory tint in the back but wanted them darker, the front windows and the windsheld for UV protection. I picked my car up about 4:15-4:20pm. Beach Auto Sound, i've used them a few times throughout the last 20 years for window tinting, stereos/speakers, and alrams. I've always liked them, however I dont know exactly why. Tom, the head guy there it seems, has a very recognizable face which is good for them, and he's always been decent, but with my most recent run ins with them I'm seeing more now why I always thought this place was a bit off. Other than previous window tinting work, each alarm or stereo install has been met with at least one broken part in my car, usually some type of plastic clip to hold a panel or similar. I thought that was somewhat understandable given the nature of how vehicles are built. Well leading up to recently, Ive been a little more displeased with Beach Auto Sound. The last time I had a stereo and speakers installed was about 3 years ago. Not only was there at least one broken part, they even left a few tools in my vehicle, no biggie. Once the install was done and i was leaving, i decided to do a quick setup of my stereo so i could listen to my music. I was not sure on some of the equalizer settings and asked Tom about them, he gave me a roundabout crappy answer and wouldn't come out for 2 minutes to help me. He instead had someone else come out who knew nothing about how this worked at all. This was an interesting reaction from Tom as I had just spent a good bit of money for the equipment and install. Moving forward to the last 2 weeks, Im in the market for new speakers for a different vehicle, and may possibly buy more. When i went to the shop a few weeks ago, Tom was not in, so another person, Jaime, helped me out. Well, Jaime was rude, belittling and degrading. He talked to me as if I should have known all of these technical aspects that he was asking or telling me about. Fortunately for me, I stand up for myself, and one of my remarks to him were "well thats why you work here and I don't". i replied this way in response to how he was talking to me. Even one of the techs who came in and joined the conversation began talking to me in this manner, however the tech quickly changed his tune when he realized I wan't putting up with their crappy attitudes. Before we were done, I had agreed on an install with all products to be purchased at Beach Auto Sound totaling approximately 5K with install. Due to the length of time needed for the install I was unable to do this that day, therefore nothing has been purchased yet, which is good for me since I didn't feel right about this interaction since the second I walked in and Jaime opened his mouth. Their screw ups in the past even caused me to let Jaime know one of my concerns was things being broken in my car since this has happened quite a bit in the past. All in all, I can NOT recommend Beach Auto Sound anymore. I do not trust them and I'm very sick of their attitudes. Tom has always been decent up until purchase, or when just browsing the shop, but his actions 3 years ago were not up to par. On this visit, Jaime's attitude was enough to make me question this purchase from the beginning of our conversation. A company & employees who really care for their customers. Had an alarm problem , but during their investigation they found water inside cab of car. Tom took the time to research and found out there was a recall on 2019 Rav-4 which allowed to seep the water inside. I never got the recall from Toyota. Toyota did fix it under warranty. Called around to the many different stereo shops in HB and right away I knew Beach Auto Sound was the place I wanted to do business with. I called in and talked with a nice lady and then to Tom who I think is the owner. I needed a dash cam installed in my new GMC 2500 and also my Hellcat. After talking with Tom and explaining what I wanted he made a couple different suggestions, I did a little research online and I found that these guys really know what you're talking about. I drop my GMC off at 7:30 AM and I threw the key through their key drop, I received a phone call a couple hours later and the job was done. I went and picked up the truck and everything looked great, nothing was dirty broken or damaged and I was very happy with the installation. After a quick demo to how everything works I was on my way. So check it out guys I am in a very similar business and let's just say that I understand how this place operates. There is a reason why stereo shops come and go in my place like this has been around for 30+ years. If you need your stereo system in your car upgraded or if you want a nice dash cam like I got a highly recommend you give this place a shot, everyone seemed like they knew what they were doing and the owners not going anywhere so just in case there is a problem I think it's safe to say you're totally covered. I would like to give you one warning, be very careful when searching for this particular shop. There are some other stereo shops in the area with a similar name that I've only been around a couple years or let's just say they haven't been around as long is this place and in my opinion they're trying to ride the coattails of the shop that' leads thus local industry. When I accidentally called the other place they literally went out of their way to make it think like I called the right shop, one guy even acted like he remembered our conversation. The speakers, amp and subwoofer installation is clean, sounds great and was overall a very good deal. I dealt with Tom and he is an absolute pleasure to do business with. Stopped by here for a quote and was treated in a friendly manner, was talked down to and my system was criticized. It was obvious they did not want my business by the extremely high quote I was given. Needless to say, I did not use them. They may do fine work, and may have ok pricing IF you buy everything from them. But since I bought my gear from someplace, they were not much interested in doing the TUNING.
