After perusing the menu for a few minutes, we finally settled on the Katy Berry ("One Scoop Sundae served with Strawberry Blush Ice Cream, Fresh Strawberries, Belgian White Chocolate Sauce"). It arrived about ten minutes later and certainly looked appealing. And yeah, it's a quality sundae. The strawberries were maybe a little too tart and the white chocolate sauce got way too hard, but otherwise it's a solid concoction. The strawberry ice cream is the highlight, as it's creamy and packed with strawberry flavor. I also quite enjoyed the fresh-tasting cone, and the bites with strawberry and cone were extremely satisfying. The service was friendly and efficient, too. I can see why Demetres is such a popular dessert spot.

On this visit, I had the steak sandwich, mortadella sandwich, cold brew, and Nutella latte, and everything was delicious. The vanilla cupcake was especially good--super moist and not overly sweet. Parking is pretty limited, but if you arrive early enough, you can usually find street parking in the surrounding neighbourhood. Despite how busy it was, the service was incredibly quick. There seemed to be plenty of staff working together to keep orders moving efficiently. One bonus that I absolutely loved is that they carry Nutella and Orzo imported from Italy. It's nice knowing I don't have to fly to Italy every time I want to pick some up! Can't wait to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu.

The prosciutto sandwich was okay, but unfortunately, it was really salty. I'm not sure if it was the particular cut of meat, but I've made prosciutto sandwiches at home that weren't nearly as salty. It was also missing a sauce or at least some cheese to cut the saltiness of it. Was very plain and just had meat and arugula. Overall, there wasn't anything particularly astounding about the sandwich for me. The coffee crema, on the other hand, was delicious! My only issue was the price. The small was a very tiny portion, comparable in size to a small iced coffee from Tim Hortons, and between the sandwich and coffee, I paid around $20. For what I got, I personally didn't feel it was worth the price. That being said, the desserts and pastries all looked really good, so I would go back to try some other things. Based on this first visit, though, I wouldn't say I'd go out of my way to visit specifically for the sandwich or coffee. The staff was very helpful and friendly, however, so 5/5 for that. It can be a little overwhelming with all the options and we went at lunch time so it was more chaotic (to no fault of their own of course!), but staff was incredibly nice and patient with us.

Liked that they didn't put the lid on right away for me and let me know I could add my own sugar if I wanted and indicated where it was. Unfortunately for me since I shoved it in my work bag which was packed, the croissant ended up getting flattened instead of staying as full and fluffy as in the display, but it was still delicious when I got to eat it later. Flaky exterior, soft inside, and super buttery. There's a few small tables inside if dining in (and one just out front). It looks really tired and dated, in desperate need of a refresh. Interior is more small town general store as opposed to French patisserie. The refrigerated display was covered in condensation so honestly, it wasn't invited and difficult to see the cakes/tarts that were hidden behind the water droplets. I felt as though this did a HUGE disservice to the baker 'cause this definitely prevents people from being able to properly see the products. Adjacent to the display case, were croissants (chocolate, almond, plain) and pain aux raisin. Clearly some items were in demand because there were less of certain items. Plain Croissant was $4 which, based on the size isn't too bad. "Fancier" croissants were closer to the $5 range. I didn't see any fresh bread, but they had frozen bake-at-home ones in the fridge. Not sure if it was because they were sold out. I got the pain aux raisin and it was pretty good! Not super flakey, a bit more moist, but not dry either. Not super buttery. This was in the early afternoon. And the pain aux raisin was DEFINITELY better than the poor example that I had at Gouter (Etobicoke). That was tiny and not very fresh! Overall, Patisserie D'Or could've been better, but if it's in your neighbourhood, it's probably a bonus.

Sponge cake had flavor-filled chewiness to it. # Hana: Again the almond sponge cake's texture was not light. But the mousse had real pineapple flavor which was endorsed by finely shredded coconut. # Ren: The sponge was flourless. Texture is dense, really really chocolate forward piece. # Kurumi: To me, this is the best among all cakes. Almond sponge cake was flourless, but nicely moist.
