I appreciate the cleanliness of Metamorphosis and all of the awesome cat photos/paintings. Goddess Bastet would definitely bless this shop. Piercing prices are not bad: $35 for the first piercing ($20 for each additional piercing) and cost of the earring(s). They place a longer post because of swelling and then you can return for shorter post (4 mos. later). At the time I'm writing this review, screw posts are $20 and magnetic snap is $10. Firstly, all of my piercings have healed great. The only thing I don't like about this place is they still go by all Covid rules. Appointments only, even just to look at jewelry? Only one guest can come with you, you can't have anyone sit in the lobby. Also, you have to wear a mask which I know it's a tattoo place but it isn't mandated anymore and they are so strict about it, I came to my appointment and it was pouring down raining and my hands were full and the guy wouldn't even open the door all the way until I got my mask on all the way like.. come on. Why does the door have to be locked at all times? After searching everywhere for a nose ring I decided to bite the bullet and go straight to the source. A friend and I showed up at Metamorphosis 30 mins before they opened and hung out in the car until they opened. Once they opened, the floodgates opened and there were quite a few people in there, but we didn't wait long to be shown where the hoops were. The lady was super knowledgeable and gave us all the info we needed. I thought we were just going to walk in purchase a ring, they would put it in a bag and we would walk out. Instead, they offered to set us up with the piercer and have her fit the ring and put it in for us. After waiting just a few mins we were ushered into the piercing room and let me tell you...... the art in there is AMAZING!! Cats everywhere. I abs loved it! Kristen was so great and super professional. The whole process was super quick and clean and she even offered that if we wanted to change our ring in the future to head back in and she would help. I was recommended to Metamorphosis when I first visited Indianapolis. I was told by a really cool drunk stranger that this was a world-class tattoo parlor located in an area of the city called "Broad Ripple." My best friend and I had always talked about getting a tattoo together and decided to be impulsive. When I visited this shop I was very impressed with how clean it was and how much selection they had with various jewelry. Our tattoo artist was one of the coolest people I've ever met. We shared a few cigarettes in between tattoos, and had great conversation during our session! Asides from how nice he was, he was extremely talented. Three of my sorority sisters and I were in town for a sorority conference. We decided that our hard work and dedication to each other should be commemorated with some beautiful new piercings. So we headed over to metamorphosis ready to get our ears stabbed. In our spontaneity, we neglected to check the hours. We arrived 4 minutes before closing. Whoops. Thankfully, Kristin was gracious enough to stay late to give all 4 of us arguably the best piercing experience any of us had had (which, between the 4 of us, is upwards of 20 experiences). All 4 of us felt comfortable, welcomed, and like our piercings were in fact OUR piercings - we were not pressured into altering the placements if we didn't want to. Great place! I waited to write my review until I was completely done with my process. From start to finish. At the beginning going in and wanting to talk to someone, the front counter staff seems disinterested and standoffish until they realize you are serious. They require a $40 depost whcih comes off the price of the tattoo at the time you make your appointment if you aren't a same day walkin...makes sense. Got a new tattoo done by Megan and she was great. I went in for the tattoo and she was super laid back and with stood 100's of questions from myself and my friend. Just went back this past weekend to get a touch up done-at no charge....which is what puts my rating at a 5. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a new ink job or peircing. The staff can be a bit gruff, but I'm wondering if that's part of the "I'm a cool tattoo artist" vibe. Wow, I can't believe I am the first to review Metamorphosis, who woulda' thunk it? When I decided to get my first tattoo back in '04, everybody I asked - who had ink I liked - told me to go to Metamorphosis. Somebody specifically suggested I talk to Jeff, which I naturally did. That first time around, I knew what I wanted - basically - but not being an artist myself, was not sure how to create my design. No problem, as Jeff took the individual elements I brought him and turned them into a design that completely matched the vision in my head. Two more tattoos later - all designed and executed by Jeff - I am thinking about how I can get another without upsetting hubby. Obviously I found out firsthand that the old cliche about tattoos carries some truth in it...once you get your first, you'll be hooked and want more. I may not be destined for a fourth piece of body art, but if I were, I would go back to Jeff @ Metamorphosis. He did a great job and really took the time to create something beautiful and personal for me with each of my tattoos. I was really hesitant to get a second ear lobe piercing after I got it done with my mom when I was like 8 years old on an island at a jewelry store. It was traumatic as I waited to be the last one to have them shoot a stud with one of those retractable guns. They shouldn't even allow those things. It took over a year to heal and it hurt so bad that I walked out in tears. They had to cut the post off after it healed as they didn't inform me how to properly clean it. Fast forward, 20 years later, I mustered myself into finally getting a 2nd lobe. This time at a reputable tattoo and piercing parlor. I just walk in without an appointment to Metamorphosis. This was the best ear piercing experience by far. They had a beautiful selection of titanium jeweled or me studs, but I opted for beaded ones. Guess what? They're reusable for future piercings which is awesome. My 2nd lobe was done by Kristin-down to earth gal and experienced piercer. I highly recommend her. I would totally go back and get additional piercings in the future. The price for piercing is competitive to elsewhere, but I like how they take you into a private, sterile room like a doctor's office not like at a mall kiosk with everyone watching you. The jewelry is on the pricy side, but it's definitely hypoallergenic metals. The piercing process was quick and painless, much less than having a 14 gauge needle stuck into your arm. They give you a care card and two plastic condiments with a bag of salt to cup over your ears to keep them clean while they're healing. read more

Beware when getting a tattoo at Metamorphosis. I have a few tattoos over the past few years from Metamorphosis but my last experience was the worst. They are not to be trusted. All the tattoos I have from there took at least An hour and my average cost was $100.00 each. The tattoo artist Jeff was great and very fair. I have a number of tattoos from different tattoo parlors and I would say most of them average $100.00 per hour, which is fair. I wanted one last tattoo before I moved and since Jeff was off they said TREVOR was available. I filled out the usually form checking all the boxes and gave it back to the RECEPTIONIST and signed it. I had also paid the $40.00 deposit in advance. TREVOR came out and took me back for my tattoo. FORTY minutes later he said all done. The tattoo was a total of one line and maybe four words in Hebrew. I was shocked when he said the grand total was $300.00. I didn't want to create a scene and argue with him in front of everyone in the place so I signed the charge slip and that is on me for not confronting him about the $300.00 screwing I got. II DON'T KNOW HOW 5 RED STARS GOT ON THE REVIEW. IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE WHATEVER THE WORST RATING POSSIBLE. THIS IS THE FIRST POST I HAVE EVER DONE ON YELP. ASK THEM TO SWEAR ON THEIR KIDS LIFE THAT I'M LYING AND HAVE MADE THIS UP. After much thought I did dispute the charge and that is when the integrity of the owner Kristin, Trevor and staff members came out. First they said that the $300.00 was on the consent form I signed, it was not as I would never have agreed to pay that kind of money for 40 minutes or I think less. Then they said TREVOR discussed the cost with me. Both are total lies. The $300.00 was added after the dispute and he lied that he discussed the cost with me, never happened. Think, how would the cost of the tattoo be on the consent form that I signed about medical issues be on the form prior to me giving it to the receptionist. She didn't know the price and Trevor never had it. Kristin the owner sent it to my credit card company showing the $300.00. My mistake was not confronting Trevor when he said 300.00. The owner knows I got taken advantage of but instead of doing the right and honest thing and apologize to me for what happened she said I signed the charge slip and refused to work out what was fair but instead she kept it all and I got screwed. I spoke with a lawyer and he agreed I had a case but $ wise not worth it. She should have refunded the overpayment and fire all that was involved in the screwing I got. Any good business owner I know would have fixed the situation. Kristin owns metamorphosis and she knows what a 40 minute tattoo should cost. I lost my dispute. Is this a company you want to do business with and put your trust in ? There are to many reputable tattoo shops in Indianapolis to do business with. It may not happen to you and hopefully if you go there check and see if you are told the price for the tattoo before hand. For those of you that have been there was the price posted in the upper right hand box after you sign the consent form. I never asked Jeff until after and he said how does $100.00 sound and that is why I trusted Trevor. Now when I go elsewhere I ask. If I read an article like this I would go elsewhere and.stay away from someone like Trevor. So I repeat, is metamorphosis someone you trust and want to do business with ? I hope not. But I will say allegedly. The incident is to detailed to make up and why would I lost this if it were not true? It is true and common sense would know I'm and the situation is the truth. Best experience I've had in a tattoo/piercing parlor! I came in to get my daith pierced then I came in again about a year later to get my daith jewelry changed. The staff was super friendly and helpful! Kristin was my piercer and she also changed the jewelry when I came in. She's very sweet and down-to-earth. As a fellow cat lover, I love all the cat paintings and portraits in her studio! She answers any questions you have and makes the process quick while still keeping you comfortable. The jewelry selection is excellent! I chose a heart-shaped hoop when I got my daith pierced then changed it to a regular hoop with a diamond ball. Kristin put my heart-shaped earring in a bag and said to come back if I want to change it. The best part about the hoop with the diamond ball is that you can get just the ball changed. They have so many colors to choose from, and it makes it easier than having to change the earring as a whole! Out of the few places I've gone for piercings, Metamorphosis is by far my favorite. The shop itself was clean and my tattoo turned out nice. The lower rating is for how poorly they handled things overall. I had placed a deposit and booked a couple weeks ahead of time with a specific artist. When I showed up for the appointment, they told me "Megan is running behind so we switched you over to Paul." Just like that. They just stated it like a fact. Common courtesy would've been to call me ahead of time and asked if I was alright with that or give me the option of coming in a little later to stick with Megan. It felt really unprofessional and disrespectful. No matter how small or simple a tattoo is, I'm still a customer and that was definitely no way to treat a customer. I would've walked out if I hadn't already put down a deposit. Nothing against the tattoo artist or his work, he was really chill and nice. I stopped in here yesterday hoping to pick out a cute nose ring for my daughter. While I walked out empty handed, I did so because I walked out with a ton of knowledge. I really thought my biggest decision would be what type of metal and/or what gauge to get her. As I struck up a conversation with the girl up front, she started asking me all sorts of questions to help me narrow down my decision. Then I mentioned that my daughter had her friend do the piercing and that's when staff member really threw down the knowledge. I got my first ever tattoo here today and I am absolutely blown away by how understanding and funny they all were. They ran me through everything I needed to know since it was my first time. Paige, my tattooer (if that's even a word) was hilarious and also absolutely nailed my tattoo.
