I've been coming to Metamorphosis for my tattoos for years now! I got one in 2019 by whoever was first available but eventually found "my" artist Lyndsy and have been seeing her for a couple years. The shop is by appointment only and based on the other reviews I see, I'm not sure what the issue is. It clearly says it on the door and many other tattoo shops in Indy are appointment only??? Just call ahead of time and make an appointment?? Anyway, Lyndsy is always able to fit me into her schedule in a short amount of time and she puts so much care into her work. Whether it's a simple tattoo or a custom one that's more complicated, she does it all with kindness and knowledge of her craft. Everyone else I've met at the shop are also great and super nice. I had went here to get a nose ring and to have them change it out. They are only taking appointments so I had called them Monday afternoon and they could get me in the next day but due to my schedule I had made my appointment for Wednesday after work. When I arrived to the shop they were very professional and helpful. They have some beautiful jewelry and the prices range from inexpensive to expensive depending on what you get. I have never left a review in my life-- I work in service and have contemplated writing one, but I found it necessary. I went for a nostril piercing on each side a few months ago, the jewelry was like $50 a piece and the size of a baby's pinky; but everyone recommended this place so I thought it must be reasonable. In total after pricing, tip, piercing prices, it was like $150. I've had my nose pierced at 17 at a shitty tattoo shop, it fell out a few months ago (I'm 26) and decided I wanted both sides; I've never had any issues with tattoos or piercings. One nostril fell out after two weeks (it was a twisted ball so I have no idea how that happens in one's sleep), and closed immediately. The other nostril became extremely infected, I used the saline solution I purchased from them 3x a day, and the piercing again fell out in my sleep. My nostrils are now still fu**ed up to this day. I've never even had an issue with Claire's jewelry. So awful and overpriced despite the hospitality. read more

I went in and got my nose pierced again in the same place and everyone from the front Dess to the piercer was great and gave me full instruction and what to do next. Another woman insulted my outfit and was commenting on it ("floaties optional") with her coworkers while I was trying to browse. The vibe felt needlessly exclusionary and condescending ("we are open by appointment only - you clearly don't have one"). Really? You're in a war zone of construction in a sloppy, biker gang over-ridden part of Indiana. Get over yourselves and work on your customer service. Okay, let's talk about Metamorphosis! First of it, it's spotless. No matter how long you're there, the employees are cleaning, sterilizing, sanitizing, spraying down their work spaces, etc. With few exceptions, the staff are all so nice and helpful, and don't let you move ahead until they feel like you really understand what you're getting into, whether it's a piercing or ink. They're COMPLETELY on it when it comes to the required paperwork, so you know they're on the up and up when it comes to that. I had a tattoo done there in April, and even though there wasn't a whole lot of connection between myself and my artist, but did a fantastic job, giving me exactly what I wanted, and I'm proud to show it. Now, let's talk about Paige. I went in a couple weeks ago with a drawing of a peacock that I wanted translated into a tattoo. I didn't like that the drawing was somewhat cartoonish, but when I showed up for my appointment, she had turned it into an almost stained glass representation, which I loved. I simply asked her to make it slightly bigger, and she did. Somehow, even though she's stabbing you a bazillion times a minute with a needle, Paige has a very soft touch, is the perfect amount of conversational, and doesn't seem annoyed or put out when you need to take a second, or go off to the bathroom. I did hair for 30 years, and when I retired, I had a bunch of ladies baying at the moon, threatening me with bodily harm, and generally mourning my exit from the business. For me, this will be Paige. Thank God she's a lot younger than me, because I can't imagine any circumstance I would go to anyone else for expert, custom inkwork! I'd trust anyone at Meta for ink or piercings, don't get me wrong, but Paige? Paige is my girl!! read more

Definitely was a great laid back experience customer experience wise. Hands down the best experience I've ever had! COVID precautions are fully enforced, which honestly I appreciate. Paige was my piercer and she was sooooo professional and also perfect at her craft. I initially came in for one piercing. My first piercing was the conch. I was superrrrrrrrrrr nervous. I love piercings but fret at the pain. And I haven't had one in years. Paige walked me through and honestly the pain was a 2/10. I was amazed at how easy it was. I literally was like WOW PAIGE! So I was curious about getting another piercing and asked about the pain level. She said it was the pain was about the same. So I signed up for another piercing, the outer auricle. Same process, even less pain 1/10. I honestly could've let her pierce everything I've been wanting to get ... but you know you gotta pay for it! The piercing was steep. It's a 40 dollar piercing fee and the jewelry adds up. The titanium champagne stud was 50 (conch) piercing and the gold hoop was 100. So all together ... pretty stiff. But every time I'm in Indianapolis I'll definitely get my worked one her. Quality is superb. read more

Made an appointment for the only day you can get into this place. It's like why do you have to make an appointment for a shop that's just open to the public. Especially for just a quick 15-20 min piercing. I got an appointment at 1:30 pm and called the lady at the front desk to tell her I'll be 5 min late to the appointment due to traffic from a wreck on the highway. She said I had a 15 minute grace period but after that the couldn't serve us which is reasonable. I got there at 1:40 at the door with only 5 min to spare and they said were late and couldn't serve us when I still had 5 min. She was very rude and arrogant like she was better than everyone there. I don't know why the staff that works here just makes you seem so less of yourself and lies about when it's okay to come. Professionalism should also retain kindness and they truly lack that. Really disappointed this place is appointment only now. I've been here for several piercings and have walked in for all of them. It's mostly been a great experience each time. They can be a little condescending when picking out jewelry and with their insistence that cartilage piercings can't be done with a hoop, but the place is clean, and they're fairly quick about it. Great staff with good artists and piercing professionals. I got a piercing here back in September, and have had issues with getting the piercing snagged or caught on things, which has caused an irritation bump to form right around the piercing. I've been able to reach out to the staff at Metamorphosis, and they've been incredibly helpful with helping me care for my piercing aftercare. Appointment only shop and they do require yoh wear masks inside, even while being serviced. Which I love! Very clean space and never have to wait too long to be taken care of once you're inside. My experience with my nipple piercings was impeccable from start to finish. Some of the reviews concerned me - not getting to pick your artist, no opportunity to consult, etc. not that the reviews are bad, but hidden in the reviews are what I thought were red flags. They are not. I phone about a week in advance to ask questions. I got Hannah, who was sweet, helpful, knowledgable, and tolerant of my barrage of questions. I learned that Kristen, who I had chosen to do my piercings, accepted walk-ins. Hannah also answered other questions I had about the process, jewelry, etc. Mr Jen F has been wanting a specific tattoo for some time now, so I asked Hannah about that process. She encouraged me to choose Matt because of his experience with Japanese style tattoos. (We had actually already decided Matt was best for the job based on the website/online reviews.) She set up a consultation with Matt to discuss the work and this occurred just after my piercing. Kristen was fun, gentle, honest, professional, and comforting. She didn't require me to fully undress (top/bra), but I did because I wanted her to have clear access and I'm not modest. She's also very good and the process was not nearly as painful as I anticipated. Nearly 24 hours later, I have no bruising or swelling. Mr Jen F met with Matt and were proceeding with the work. My friend and I came all the way from Muncie to get our first non-earlobe piercings done here. We both wanted a helix piercing (one double, one single) and wanted to have it done right, and Heather delivered! They are very obviously a tattoo AND piercing shop, not just a tattoo parlor that can also do piercings. The whole shop feels clean and airy. We went on a Saturday afternoon and only waited for about ten minutes. Heather was totally cool even though we were kind of giggly and nervous and probably totally uncool. She talked to us about everything she was doing and was really chill and really seemed to like her job. The girls at the counter knew their stuff too. They were able to recommend jewelry for us based on price point and goals. I wanted a double helix so I could have a spiral, and they recommended getting a couple of 18-gauge hoops to make the transition easier. Heather also made recommendations for how to take care of our new piercings and for when we could change our jewelry. Healing for both of us has been slow and uneventful, which is just want you'd hope for. read more
