All the things you want in a tattoo shop. Clean shop, friendly staff, reasonable prices and true genuine artists working. I worked with Diego and he was a true pleasure to work with. He listened to what I wanted but also made sure to discuss what would be best from a tattoo artist stand point. Tattoo did take a little longer than expected (6.5hrs versus 4.5hrs) but also didn't mind because this is on my body forever and I'd rather them take their time to perfect it than be rushed. Thank you Diego and Masterwork. I'll be back, once Mary heals. read more

After researching a couple places in the area I decided to go to Masterwork for my first tattoo. Diego did an amazing job! I came in with a reference photo and he gave helpful insight matching style with location. Overall a decorative, clean shop and would definitely go back! read more

This was my first experience getting a tattoo. I called day-of and was able to squeeze in an appointment with Diego. I had a general idea of what I was looking for and showed Diego an image that he re-designed in his own style. The result was incredible and for my first time getting a tattoo I would say this was the best way it could have gone. Diego will work with you and also give his input from an artist's point of view (especially color-wise, I was looking for something with more orange-golds and he suggested some tweaks that would make it more breathtaking). He's really communicative about what he'll be doing during the process and will check in with you to make sure you are doing alright. Care instructions were clear and when my tattoo started to weep under the second skin (it's a really good protective layer that is also often used for burn victims) - which is super common, don't be scared if this happens to you, it's often a part of the healing process - Diego gave me another one to keep it fresh and healing securely. This tattoo is so beautiful and the placement also allows me to start a really good sleeve. Overall the vibes are really good here. Expect to bring cash and some extra to tip well. I will definitely be coming back to start my sleeve! If you're considering coming here, especially for an on-a-whim moment, just do it. I recommend calling ahead. I have no regrets. 10/10 read more

Masterwork Tattoo - Sun designed by Diego - Tattoo Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

My first experience at the shop was amazing. I felt very welcomed and received a great tattoo. It wasn't until I wanted to schedule another tattoo that my artist Jacob (the owner) asked me what I wanted to add to my tattoo. I told him my idea and he just stopped responding. I ended up having to get it done at a different shop. Seemed a little inconsistent honestly which sucks because my first experience was great. read more

My boyfriend and I got our first tattoos here and everyone was super professional and nice. I got a small one that took maybe 5-10 minutes and I love it. Diego was our artist and he was very nice and straight forward which I appreciated. He explained everything to me and made sure the stencil was the perfect size and in the perfect position before even starting. I'll definitely be back to see him! read more

Came here for my first tattoo and Adam did a fantastic job - I wanted to symbolize finishing cancer treatment and had a small logo I wanted it to be a play off of. He sketched for a few min and was done inking a bit later. I absolutely love my tattoo and it was a very easy experience. Update: Adam does it again. Came to him for my second tattoo and he once again nailed it. Highly recommend! read more

I got a tattoo here a few months ago and I could not be happier with it. Jacob Bryan is an exceptional artist, and beyond that, I felt very welcomed into the studio. It was super easy to get in contact with him as well as communicate what I wanted. He made sure to work out the details of what I envisioned for this tattoo and definitely went even beyond what I imagined. I have recommended and will continue to recommend Jacob as well as the other artists at Masterwork to anyone looking for some badass ink. read more

Insensitive and unprofessional staff. Diego was absolutely rude when asked if there was someone who could do a fine line project for me, seeming offended and replied "I do fine lines every day but is there someone else you want to talk to?" I was a walk in so had no idea of his work or approach, and asked a reasonable question. I have several tattoos and have never had an experience like this. When I tried to clarify what I was looking for (an outline of something), he became sarcastic and just repeated himself slower, "is there someone else you want to talk to?" He was genuinely rude and insensitive, as this project is related to the loss of my baby which he did not show an ounce of compassion for. For an artist to not be sensitive to the fact that many people wish to commemorate important life events is substandard and a huge red flag. I do not recommend this place if you want to collaborate on something with an actual artist who won't get offended by simple questions, can handle collaboration, and is able to show even a tiny bit of patience and professionalism to their customers. I'm so glad I didn't trust him with this project. read more

2018 Ink & Pink Tour - my cousin and I were in Indy for the Pink concert and decided to get a tattoo in memory of our Grandma D. I contacted Beau Guenin based on Yelp reviews of the shop and his portfolio of animal designs. It was a pleasure working with him he designed exactly what we had in mind based on Grandma's signature and her love of bumblebees. Beau was fun to work with, very professional, and fast!!! I highly recommend anyone in Indy looking for ink to contact Beau. read more

The best place in indy to get tattooed. Have been getting tattooed here since 2016. Jacob is the man!

It is a very unprofessional environmental. I had to wait for my tattoo artist to take all of his trash out of his area before he could tattoo me. Then he didn't shave my leg, check my ID or remember certain aspects of the tattoo I wanted. He drew and put the tattoo on me facing me so the tattoo would look upside down to other people. While he was putting the stencil on me, other employees kept walking up to me and saying "that's going to suck". Overall, it's not a shop to get quality work done. It's loud, not clean, and the work isn't good. I won't be going back. read more

Masterwork is such a cool spot. I followed the artists on Instagram and reached out to Adam and he got me in within the week. I asked for assistance on a drawing, was told not my drawings, without anything to back it up, I took many pictures off the internet and combined them into one piece. None was a copy, just ideas and styles. Would not recommend this place at all. Just plain rude! read more

I recently got a tattoo with Jacob and he really exceeded my expectations. Sometimes explaining your idea and finding someone to make it come to life is not easy. I am not one to leave reviews, but this place deserves 5 stars. I stopped in one day to see about covering a hideous tattoo that I had gotten earlier this year in Carmel. It was so bad, that I was embarrassed to show it to the artist, but Nick was super kind and immediately came up with ideas to make it better. I booked an appointment, and all I can say is WOW! Nick exceeded my expectations and turned it in to something beautiful that I can't stop staring at! Never in my wildest imagination did i think this tattoo could be transformed like this. On top of that, it was nearly painless! The original tattoo guy(I can't in good conscience call him an artist) tore my skin apart and at the end, I was left with an ugly, bloody mess. My experience today was a night and day difference, and I can't recommend Nick enough. He is super nice, personable, and definitely a true artist! Thanks Nick! Dan and I already have a plan for a new tattoo to commemorate our wedding, and from now on, you are the only one we will go to. read more
