Our first time at The Mandala Effect won't be the last!…read more While I didn't get inked, my sister in law and husband both did. Huge shoutout to Mikey who did an AMAZING job. My sister in law got two smaller tattoos and my husband got one larger one. This was both their first time and Mikey took time with each of them to make sure they loved the design and size before starting. He asked questions and made sure they were going to love it. During the tattooing, he had great background music playing but offered to let us pick our own. The room was small but comfortable. He made sure I could sit and watch he regularly offered us water. We talked and got to know each other for a large portion of the session. Mikey was also SUPER patient and at the end, made sure we knew how to care for the tattoos and asked if we had any questions. When I get my first tattoo, I will absolutely be visiting Mikey at Mandala Effect. P.S. Shoutout to the boss whose name I didn't catch but who was also very kind!

I felt awful about it, but he never once seemed annoyed or frustrated. He just walked me through everything -- how certain designs age, what would hold up, what wouldn't -- and he put me completely at ease. That's why I went straight back to him when I lost Barley, my dog and my first baby. I trusted him. We ended up going in a totally different direction than what I originally planned, and he adapted without hesitation. He took what I brought in and made it even more personal and meaningful. The process was emotional, but honestly healing, and I'm grateful he was the one guiding me through it. The tattoo he created is exactly what I hoped for: delicate, clean, fine line work that will age well. He's thorough, informative, and incredibly skilled. More than that, he's steady and patient in a way that makes you feel taken care of during something meaningful. I'm really grateful he was part of this.

Artist unprepared and weak line work left my tattoo patchy and not what I wanted…read more I went into the shop on Friday and sent him the photo that same day so he could prepare the stencil. I came back on Sunday, and he told me he hadn't prepared it and asked me to return on Tuesday. When I came in on Tuesday, the stencil still wasn't ready, but we tattooed the parts that worked. He said he would draw the rest by hand because the stencil wasn't laying correctly on my fingers. Over the next three weeks, the original work healed, and I noticed some of the lines were faint. We scheduled another appointment to finish the fingers and fix the patchiness. When I arrived on Monday, the stencils he drew still didn't work. I ended up having him do some dots on my fingers, and I asked him to fix the line work, but I can still see faded lines. Overall: my tattoo is not horrible. I can live with the fingers not working out, I can't with the shotty line work.
