I should just buy the manufacturer's new product, not their listed alternative. Consequently, PC Industries did not ship the items I was billed for, still have not been refunded. Told the order was "so long ago". Unbelievable. Lesson learned. I should have moved on after the phone call and not risked the outcome.

I ordered to have two custom post caps made for stairs in my house that is being remodeled in Orange County. I searched through several vendors and nobody wanted to touch my design ideas. Not only did Old West Iron deliver, their creative design team improved on the ideas and we finished with what I would consider nothing less than two pieces of art. The custom builder on my home (i.e., MJ Star) was so impressed with their work they are going to refer other customers when looking for custom iron work. MJ Star is known for custom home building and remodeling for past 30 years in Southern California. If you have ever visited Laguna or Newport Beach or seen homes in the area, then more than likely you have seen one of their designs. Disappointed with the quality and unwillingness to provide a replacement…read more I purchased the Mediterranean Cast Iron Doorstop from Old West Iron based on the photos shown on their website. Unfortunately, the actual piece I received had several noticeable casting imperfections that were significantly more pronounced than what was represented in the website photos. The screw hole was also noticeably off-center. I contacted Old West Iron and provided photos. Their response confirmed that the piece is sand-cast and that variations and imperfections are part of the manufacturing process. They also acknowledged that the screw hole on my particular piece was "a little further off center than they usually are." I understand that a sand-cast product will have some natural variations. My concern is that the piece I received was not reasonably consistent with the appearance represented in the company's photographs. I asked for a replacement and specifically requested that someone inspect it for unusually noticeable imperfections before shipping it. Rather than provide a replacement, Old West Iron told me they could not promise another piece would be any more uniform and offered only a refund. In my opinion, if a company is selling a decorative product based on professional product photographs, the actual product should reasonably resemble what is being advertised. Customers should not have to accept a significantly lower level of finish simply because imperfections are inherent to the casting process. The customer service representative was courteous, but I was disappointed that the company was unwilling to stand behind the product by inspecting and replacing a piece that was acknowledged to have an unusually off-center screw hole and noticeable imperfections. I would recommend carefully considering this before purchasing if appearance and consistency are important to you.
