I forgot to take pictures because we were extremely hungry and tired from our flight. Plus, there was so much going on in the area that taking photos didn't even cross my mind. It's the club scene, and I was ready for my food! My sister and I ordered the bowl, which was packed with flavorful steak, rice, beans, and plenty of vegetable toppings. The service was great, and I even got to practice a little Spanish, lol. I'd definitely visit this place again when I'm back in AZ! read more

The food was OK nothing really great at this location. I've been to others where they have a better quality of ingredients. they were out of all kinds of sauces at this location. I was really frustrated due to the fact I've been to other locations and they were spot on except for here. After I paid for my food, I saw a homeless person and gave it to them totally lost my appetite. read more

The quesadilla came out so fast, and the chicken was flavored so perfectly. I wish we got the tacos because I could've eaten the meat on its own. It is a little expensive, but for tempe its not bad. The horchata was also pretty good. read more

This is the best taco spot in phoenix!!! I ABSOLUTELY recommend this place. The tacos are the best I've ever had in my life. I visit phoenix at least twice a year and this place is a MUST when I visit. I've loved this place for years and great to see its expanded to multiple locations versus the original one in scottsdale. read more

It is located in Tempe downtown and gets crowded during the weekend. But they're super fast, and it only takes a few minutes before you have your food. We had beef and chicken quesadillas and loved both! The 4-star is only for the taste of food, because usually, the environment is not clean at all. read more

What a great find! We're visiting town over Thanksgiving and no matter where we are, we're always looking for the best breakfast burrito. We walk in and we're treated with the friendliest counter service. We chose the chorizo breakfast burrito which was made fresh right before our very eyes (not a reheated pre-made burrito). Plenty of eggs were included (hard to find since the "egg shortage" and the combination of ingredients was perfect). They have yummy grilled Serrano peppers and their red sauce has a very nice spicy flavor. My Husband preferred the milder green. We ate outside on the patio on a beautiful morning. I hope to eat here again in before we leave town. read more

The food at Mesquite is great, but this is the second time that I have gone to this location and I asked how much something was before I ordered my food and I was told the wrong information and then when I got to the cash register, they charged me more than what they stated. I asked how much the shrimp tacos were and he said $3 and it came out to like $4.59 each. read more

I think my friend summed it up best, "only good if you're drunk." I'd rather go to Filiberto's. Because it's on Mill it's always poppin, especially late at night. They don't serve quesadillas past 11pm which is disappointing. We opted for the steak burrito with all the toppings which came out to $11. It only came with two tiny salsas, a green and a red when I asked for red. Admittedly the burrito was very large. Rice and Beans were bland. Salsa was mild, not spicy. Steak, dry and tough. Overall it'll get the job done when you're drunk but otherwise avoid. read more

The first place we were going to eat wasn't open. The second place had incredibly bad service, so we left. We were not even supposed to eat here. But we were starving. I don't know, maybe that's what made the food taste so good. My kids had cheese quesadillas and chowed them down completely. I opted for the Barbacoa quesadilla - just cheese and Barbacoa in a tortilla, nothing else. Wow! I could not believe how tasty and tender the Barbacoa was! And it was gigantic - I did not even touch half of it. So I took it home and gave it to my son's nanny, and even she thought it was delicious. My only frustration was the price - it was quite high ($26+) for a kids cheese quesadilla, a barbacoa quesadilla, and a (SMALL) side of chips. read more

Mr. MESQUITE GRILL ON MILL AVE is the real deal! Upon entering Mr. mesquite Taqueria the smell of mesquite filled my nose! It made me instantly hungry. Little Rian ordered a pollito taco on flour. La Ericka and I ordered ordered carne asada on corn with everything. The gentleman running the grill was enthusiasticly talking to me about how he stokes the grill and the infusion of the mesquite flavor when the smoke and char hits the meat. The guy was spot on with his customer service and description of the grilling process. When we sat down to eat Riancito scarfed his taco down and We chomped puts. Little Camila enjoyed a side of beans. The tacos were EXCELLENT! What a great addition to Mill Ave. I'll be back after hiking again sometime as you know, tacos are the ultimate protein bar. The tacos here are delicious!! I absolutely loved the flavor they get from the mesquite wood chips! Service has always been very nice and super quick! It's a small little space but the ambiance is very comfortable. I love stopping in here real quick on my way into work and getting three steak tacos. My favorite sauces to get is the guacamole and green salsa but they also have some spicier sauces for those of you who like it extra spicy. Usually really good but the night staff is bugginn. Too urgent to get off I guess. My experience is usually really good with the day time people and the managers are nice & super welcoming but this visit really lowered my expectations & standards. Came home to no salsa....? This place usually gives both! Red and green.... Lol make SURE you specify if you want salsa cuz if you don't they will NOT include it. Their tacos are alright but the sauce makes it so much better so I'm super disappointed and dissatisfied with the night staff here. Honestly even offering options to upsell. Favorite taco "chain". The smokey mesquite flavor is second to none! I usually get half chicken half steak tacos because I can never decide which one is better. The tacos come with your choice of chicken or steak then they will add cheese and "guac" if you'd like. The guac is not real guac, pretty much blended avocado but I still get it anyway. Then they have a toppings/add-ins bar which includes but isn't limited to cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro, limes, onions, three different types of hot sauces. Giving you a good amount of variety. This place is a little drive for me but whenever I'm in the area I'll usually stop in and grab some tacos from my favorite place! read more

I love Mr. Mesquite. I frequent the Old Town Scottsdale location but this was my first time trying out the one on Mill Ave. This location is similar since you only can pick from Chicken and Steak as your protein. I typically get them both as a mixed taco. This location also allows you to get a burrito. I enjoy both the chicken and the steak however some pieces of chicken can me a little fatty/tough. Nonetheless still amazing flavor from the chicken being fire grilled. They have a plethora of free toppings including guacamole and sour cream! The only thing that will be additional is rice and/or beans if you choose to have them as a combo with your tacos/burritos. I went on a Friday night and it wasn't overly crowded however a line of about 5 people could have you waiting 10 minutes or so to be helped. This isn't bad compared to other spots on mill that may have much longer waits on a Friday night. read more

Chicago Kid in AZ, at a Tex-street-max place what could go wrong!!! Well I past this place the night before and thought this is the place to go to breakfast and I was right. Walked in and their was the chicken getting smoked right in the front and a nicely kept place but with limited seating but the place is in AZ and it is street taco so get over it. The other thing this is a 1 of 7-8 location which I was surprised. The food is flavorful and right on the money. Other Mexican franchises could learn a few things for the four brother that started this place. The heat is good for the beginner and the person that want some heat on their food, and you know how much I love sauces!!! Nice to stop in again to try the Guacamole, and I can hear them making it in the background so it has to be good. read more

I would frequent the Mr. Mesquite's taco shop in Old Town Scottsdale and absolutely love them. Saw they had a location near my house on Mill Ave & was so excited. Tried this place 2 times. I thought maybe since I tried the quesadilla instead of the tacos (my usual) it wasn't good. Just tried the tacos, 3 of them, one of the had all fat and so much garnish on it, the next had 6 chunks of chicken & also full of garnish. Never again! So disappointed l! $35 waste for sure. read more

I stopped here for dinner after receiving a recommendation from the front desk at my hotel. The tacos were pretty no frills but were deliciously flavorful. You can smell the mesquite smoke throughout the restaurant. The tortillas were perfect. The chicken was juicy and had good seasoning. The salsa bar is less majestic than how folks described but had all the basics. I can see why this place is such a local favorite! read more

From NYC so I'm used to late night Dining. AZ closes down a bit to early for me. 12 am and was looking for some food while I did some laundry and found Mesquite. So the owner makes everything from scratch here the sauce is homemade recipes guacamoles the meat is seasoned so even though everything looks traditional like a taco joint you're going to be amazed with the flavors and the seasonings of the meats and the sauces you got to come in and try it all amazing!!!!!! read more

This place has always been good. The chicken is outstanding and the red sauce will light you up. Beef is always good as well. I had suggested in passing a couple of times that, with the hours they keep, they should offer a breakfast burrito. Well, I do not take credit for it at all, but they started offering one with chorizo and potatoes and eggs just like I would order anywhere and, just like that, they knocked it out of the park. Easily the best breakfast burrito on Tempe and I have tried many really good ones. This is good stuff. No matter the time of day or night, this is a really fantastic meal! I can't wait for my next visit. read more

The best thing about these tacos are that their grilled over wood that gives it a smokey flavor. The flour tortillas are also fresh, delicious, and has a good texture which makes a good base for the tacos. There is also the corn tortilla options. I thought the marinade flavor of the meats are okay but the smokiness does make it taste better. I went on a Tuesday so they had taco Tuesday deals for $2.00 each. For the full price, it's not worth it nor would I throw it in my list of taco Tuesday options. Overall, it's a good taco, just not something to crave about. read more

Not only was it fast service, it was fantastic service. In and out with my to-go order in under three minutes, and the girl gave me my order free because I was graduating. Get the chicken. I have never had such good chicken from a restaurant before. My husband got the burrito, I got tacos, both with chicken. We had to wait to eat it until we got our Uber and back to the hotel, so it wasn't hot when we ate it. But it was still the best damn street tacos I've ever had. Crispy char on the chicken, flavorful pico and hot salsa. I don't know if I'll be back in Phoenix again, but if I do, I'm stopping here *immediately.* read more

I went in for lunch today I ordered 4 tacos * two of each one of chicken flour tortilla and carne asada corn tortilla The place is nice and tidy. Cashier and workers are nice. I liked more the flour tortillas. I feel like the tacos needed to be more in oil. And smaller tortillas. The corn tortillas turned hard fast :( But the meat and chicken was good. Forgot to take a pic. It was alittle pricey in my opinion. But they were pretty big tacos. I think I like smaller tacos. read more

I recently had a meeting in Tempe and decided to stop by for a quick breakfast on mill ave and surprise surprise! Mr.Mesquite just opened its new location on Mill ave! I usually eat at Mr.Mesquite in old town since it's closer to my house but was not aware of their new location in Tempe. I'm loving this taco shop even more now as I just discovered that their new location offers a breakfast menu which is totally AWESOME!! Their tacos are seriously so good but the breakfast burrito that I had was AMAZING!! Huge plus for sitting space at this location so you can sit down and enjoy your food. I truly recommend to stop by at Mr Mesquite if you are in the area for breakfast or lunch as prices they have are for every pocket. read more

This is a go-to lunch spot for me and other in the office. They crank out the orders very quickly and the quality has always been great! Plus you CANNOT beat the prices, VERY cheap for some loaded tacos that taste great. I have only gotten tacos from here so that is all i can speak too, but they always exceeded my expectations. I'm originally from San Antonio, so i have high standards when it comes to my mexican food, and this place lived up to my expectations. read more

There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

It's quaint, never a wait, and it has become our family go-to. We always have wonderful service and great meals with freshly prepared ingredients. The shrimp dishes are incredible, remnant of Puerto Peñasco with shrimp that "pops" (if you know good shrimp, you know what I mean!) They have Negra Modelo on draught (hard to find that!), and their margaritas are delish. You can't go wrong with chimichangas or combo platters! They have moles on the menu but we typically opt for more traditional Sonoran style. If you are on the search for amazing traditional Mexican food in South Tempe - you found your spot!

They definitely don't skimp on their portions. I like that you can upgrade your side to fries for $2.50 extra. The restaurant was clean inside and overall very welcoming. So to my surprise, I couldn't believe the sushi especially the Las Vegas roll and their Nigiri cuts were pretty dang good. My disappointment seems to be this last year with the sushi just hasn't been the best or fresh tasting. The Las Vegas roll was always nice and warm but with an awesome cold center and fried to perfection and the sauce just right. Lately it's been the opposite. Super over fried were all you can taste is old burnt oil and it dried out and the sauce just bland and not helping at all. The other thing that bothers us is the lack of wasabi they give! If you're not going to give us full flavor, at least give more wasabi to help mask. I will say they give you plenty of soy sauce packets (just barely any wasabi).
