I've been a loyal customer ever since I discovered this place after moving out here 4 years ago. Their burrito was legitimately one of the best around...big, filling, and worth every penny. That's why today's visit was so disappointing. For $12.49, I expect a substantial burrito. Instead, I got one that was at minimum one-third smaller than usual. It literally fit in the palm of my hand. They went from two generous scoops of chicken down to just one level scoop. The beans and rice were noticeably reduced, and the cheese is now measured out with a scoop instead of being added generously like before. To "make up" for shrinking the meat, beans, rice, and cheese, they added a small side of tortilla chips (basically processed carbs). It felt like a weak attempt to compensate for the smaller meal. Really sad to see this change. It reminded me of how Chipotle gradually guards their portions like they're protecting their retirement. I'll be taking my business elsewhere until the burritos go back to what they used to be, and if not I'm excited to experience so new spots. read more

We pass by this place all the time and finally had time to go in to eat! Honestly I was a little thrown back at how uninviting and plain the inside was, not very inviting ambiance. There is so much room for improvement on the decorating part! Such a great space for it to not have more character. I was expecting it to be a little more vibrant looking inside. The people were kind to my husband when he ordered, but my older son said the girl was rude when he was asking her what to put in the burrito. The Killer Burritos are big, I split the Barbacoa burrito with my husband and it filled us both up, my oldest got the same thing and loved it! My other son got the chicken burrito, and my daughter got the carne asada tacos with beans and rice she loved them! Tried Mesquite Fresh today, decent location that was super easy to get to. Ordered steak burrito which was huge! The fajita veggies were beautifully cooked with onions lightly caramelised, pico was fresh, loads of mesquite smoked steak in burrito. Here for breakfast ended up getting a burrito bowl which as everybody knows you get twice as much food. Got a bowl with chicken and meat, rice beans, and whatever toppings I liked and they have a nice mesquite sauce which really brings out flavor. It's not really spicy or too spicy. It's just right there in the middle which for me was perfect. The service was awesome. The guy behind the counter make sure he spoke up to make sure we heard him clearly so we could order what we wanted. the cashier was great. She was on point. The ambience on the place is the same as always. All the Mexican music playing in the background and people chatter, but it was early in the morning so it wasn't too out of control. All in all, I really love this place. And I sometimes forget about it, but I need to remember to go back because they have great tacos. Great quick casual dining option with large (adult) portions. I ordered the steak bowl that came loaded with beans, rice, meat, onion, cheese, sour cream and guac sauce. I really wish they had lettuce to lighten the flavor and add crunch as well as black beans over refried, but everything tasted delicious! My hubby ordered the birria tacos which was a steep price at over $4 each, but he enjoyed them. Our kids got the chicken quesadilla which was very tiny (no sides) and a small drink for almost $7. Found this place via a food listing on a sign on the 60 freeway, believe it or not...& being it's #TacoTuesday I thought I'd try it out. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed very nicely by the crew who works here and the delicious, inviting smells that enticed me. I ordered 3 street tacos, a mixture of steak and chicken, corn tortillas, & fixings of shredded Monterrey Jack cheese, pick de gallo, cilantro, sour cream, & guacamole. Also got rice & beans & a fountain drink to complete my meal. This meal was soooooo good! I was extremely satisfied & enjoyed my meal! They also have burritos, quesadillas, bowls, breakfast burritos, kids meals, family meals, side items, & they do catering packages. Next time I come, I will try one of their packed bowls. A day after giving this place 5-stars, I decided to eat here for dinner. I initially brushed over the fact there were so many other reviews that said the staff sucked. Well, after tonight's experience, I see now why and to be honest, this may actually be enough to keep me from ever going back. After getting home, I realized they forgot to give me the side of rice and beans (that I paid for). I called the restaurant and the girl said she tried to flag me down, but I didn't see her. Funny thing is, I do not drive a Jeep (as she indicated) and I ended up getting food at the place next door, so I didn't leave right away. So, here is where the problem started. When I told her I was going to go back to the restaurant to get the rest of the food, she said she'd keep it in the "warmer" for me. I said I'd like it remade. When I got to the restaurant, I asked for it to be remade and said she once again said that she wouldn't because the food in the warmer is the same food as what she would remake. For the inconvenience, since I had to drive 10-miles (5 miles each way), I asked for a complimentary bag of chips and salsa ($2.29), to munch on for the drive home, while my burrito gets cold at home...she said NO, and that she couldn't just give away free food....um, ok...I should have had her just remake my order as by the time I got home, ALL my food was cold. She did give me two coupons for a free taco for my next visit. When I said I'd like to just use them now, she had the audacity to tell me that I could only use one of them...I'm like, are you joking me? Once I got my one free taco, which became totally disassembled by the time I got home after the taco being all alone in this huge box, I asked the girl for a water cup with a lid as I don't want the water to spill in the car. She said she couldn't give me a cup with a lid and must use the clear water cups that don't have a lid...at this point, I'm like, where is the hidden camera, because crappy customer service to this degree doesn't still exist, does it? The moral of the story, this place needs to do the right thing for their customers (especially when THEY were the ones who screwed up). Taco shops are a dime a dozen in AZ and it would be a shame for this place to go out of business, not because of their product or facilities, but by the crappy attitudes of the employees who work there. read more

Customer Service was rude & horrible. Doesn't even deserve the one star. The person helping us had an Airpod in her ear and clearly couldn't hear us ordering, had to repeat myself multiple times while ordering the food. She was rushing to complete our order and nobody was in line behind us. We came around 7pm and they don't close until 10pm. Food was placed very sloppy in the container per the pictures. I loveeeeeeeee Mesquite go almost once a week and just moved closer to this location located on Crismon. I will be taking the 15 minute drive and going back to my regular location, that's how horrible this location was. read more

This place is close to the house and I finally stopped in for lunch on Taco Tuesday. I had the steak tacos and a drink and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was -- very tasty! Ended up taking the wife back a few days later and she had a chicken quesadilla and I had tacos again. Both were really good. Service was also good and the place is clean and easily accessible. The portion sizes are especially generous with the burritos about the size of a football, with the other dishes generously sized as well. Seems to be a lot of trades people eating here, probably because you get a lot for your money. It's not fancy, but if you're looking for basic, yet really tasty mex food give this place a go. There are lots of other locations in the valley, but this one is close to home and has very good food. We'll be back. read more

We've been waiting for Mr Mesquite to open near us! Today we decided to check them out! Upon entering, all the employees were very friendly and upbeat. I was offered a menu to look at by what seemed to be a very nice regional manager. The menu is also above the ordering stations. I got the steak burrito with everything but cheeses. It's huge! What I liked is that it actually stayed to together unlike some other places where the wrap quickly rips and falls apart. The steak was very tender and tasty. It was cooked to medium from what I could tell. Not overdone at all. It's cooked over a charcoal grill! The beans had a nice taste to them and I love they weren't dried out at all. The Spanish rice was tasty as well. I would highly recommend the burrito. My better half got a steak burrito bowl. Same ingredients as listed in the photo, except she got pickled onions as well. She really liked them and that's not something she usually raves about. The price for both meals with no drink was about $21. Not bad at all. Gluten free and dairy light eater. Pros. I really like the chose your own adventure for the fillings. Helps personalize the dish and kept me from overindulging on cheese. Corn tortillas had good corn flavor. I ordered chicken and really enjoyed the flavor. Beans were adequate. Nothing fancy but quite good. Cons. Salsas flavors were not winning points. The green was the best with the hot as the worst. The mild tasted Like enchilada sauce, which isn't bad but not what I expected. Salsas brought the rating down for me. Although I loved my tacos my husband wasn't a huge burrito fan saying they meat had too much mesquite flavor as no overall was bland. If we come back I'd try other meats and styles. My husband may need to change up how he ordered his burrito. The mesquite flavor is part of the restaurants name, it's a trademark. But you either like it or not. read more

A mango smoothie that wasn't bad but $10 is a bit steep for some blended frozen mangoes. Quality of food was decent just nothing special if you're in a jam you're in a hurry this place will feed you. it must've been slow, but the ambience was quiet, dull no music to live and up the environment and kind of not well lit. $30 I could've went to In-N-Out three times and got a number 1 and been more happy on each time. read more

Having been in retail management much of my life I can say that while there are many factors that go in to running a successful business the buck truly stops at its management. As a customer, whether you love or despise a place ultimately falls squarely on the shoulders of its manager. So I say with confidence that this is one of the most poorly managed places I've ever seen to the point I suggest avoiding it. Space doesn't allow all that is dysfunctional about this business but I'll pick the number one reason they don't deserve my business ever again. Our visit was a Taco Tuesday evening. There were maybe 6 - 8 dine-in customers and a few ahead of us in line. Because their menu board is so poorly presented it took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted, being our first visit. There was no hi or welcome from any of the employees, but we did get an impatient glare from someone behind the counter. Two or three people came in behind us and we waved them on while we deciphered the menu and tried to understand how social distancing was being enforced while the few people in the tiny dining area were practically touching shoulders. Meanwhile the tension of the employees behind the counter was so thick you could cut it with a knife. They were obviously not happy. When we got to the order station again there was no friendly greeting, more of a whatta ya want. I was distracted from my ordering by watching, and listening, to a tall man who obviously seemed to be the manager literally yelling at the young man who was prepping the food. Yes, yelling at him right there in front of a line of customers. But wait, it gets worse, a minute later he was right on top of the poor kid's body space belittling him and criticizing him right there in front of all of us. I was so shocked I wanted to walk up and fire the so-called manager right there and call the labor board. I almost turned and walked out. Look dude, if the kid doesn't understand how you want the job done whose fault is it, his or yours as his manager? Our order was to go and as far as the rest of things a restaurant can be rated on, the soft tacos were unremarkable and overpriced and the Taco Tuesday signage they had everywhere didn't seem to result in any kind of special deals, in fact the extremely limited menu didn't seem to have any deals at all. They squandered any kind of opportunity to stand out as a taco place by throwing a carefully measured small amount of pre-cooked (and I assume cold) cubes of meat into a soft tortilla. You can choose from some optional add-ins just like at Subway, that is if the manager isn't yelling at one of his employees, but if you don't add every option the total amount of food you get is pitifully small. Here's my bottom line - the tall guy should never have been made a manager. If he's an employee I suggest the owner learn how to hire quality managers. If he IS the owner I suggest dear reader that you get back in your car and find another place to eat, no one who treats his employees like that should ever deserve to get your business. read more

December 15, 2020 My wife's vendor ordered this for us today through Uber Eats. This was our first time ever having their food. They ordered tacos, several quesadilla supreme, spanish rice, and beans. The spanish rice was pretty good, and the beans were decent. I had the tacos, so I am only going to speak to this entree. The 4 tacos were street taco size, they were loaded with vegetables. The vegetables were not wet. Cafe Rio is wet and makes the tortilla very soggy after sitting. The taste was decent and didn't stand out as unique. 3 out of the 4 tacos had hard pieces of gristle in them. One piece of gristle I can understand the oversight. But to find very hard gristle in 3 of the 4 tacos is just careless and unacceptable. This ruined my experience. I wish you the best of luck but gristle just kills a meal and experience for me. I'll not be back. Update December 15, 2020: The restaurant reached out to me and indicated they had a shipment from a new meat provider and the quality of cut was not up to their normal standards. I appreciate them reaching out so quickly. I will give them a second try in a month or so. I updated my review to 3 stars. I did this because when a restaurant is actually concerned about a customer's feedback and reaches out with a valid explanation that impresses me quite a bit. read more

I ordered delivery from their Website, and when my quesadilla showed up, the tortilla was burned to hell. It was so burned that I could smell it through my entire house. When I called the store, I was told there was nothing they could do as they sub out their delivery to doordash, and since it's not a doordash order I can't get a refund through them, and the store can't refund me either. They're telling me the only recourse is to email the owners and hope they refund me. This is BS of the first degree. Quite honestly the absolute best burritos i have ever had in my entire life. This place makes chipotle seem like taco bell quality. Every burrito i have ever ate up until i first had mesquite, was a lie. Their portions are K I L L E R man. At chipotle you have to pay extra for extra meat. At mesquite, extra meat is the standard. They slap two full scoops on that shit every time and i just want to nut as the second scoop of their delicious steak falls on top of the rice and beans. You will leave full and extremely satisfied every time you bless yourself by eating here. Also shoutout the dude with the nose ring and long black scraggly hair! He knows how to make a damn burrito. Every time i come in and he is working i rejoice knowing my burrito will be top notch. He doesnt say much, probably because he is so locked in on delivering me heaven wrapped in a tortilla. We got the chicken and beef street tacos with all of the fixings, rice and beans, and the cinnamon tortilla & icing deserts. 4 pounds was more than enough to feed 14, with plenty to bring home.
