For a party of two at $16.50 with a half hour wait for a table as it did not take me to merry, merriment land. Excessively overcrowded on a Sunday night at very moderate price for buffet meal where a family of four's hunger pangs can be fulfilled without question which included unlimited soda. Money bears a great impact on lifestyle played into everyday life as the ailing economy affects dinning out, but Merry Land enables all mouths to be happily feed. Quality of food is ICK as it caters to the American palette and not authentic Chinese, do not expect Chinatown Manhattan food quality or style. They offer the standard Chinese American entrees: chicken with broccoli, sweet and sour pork, spring rolls, Lo Mein, white rice. With a friend who was not himself, after we sat for ten minutes we immediately left without finishing our meal. In hopes of doggie bag our meal, Merry Land staff coldly stated that it costs $5.50 per takeout when unfinished amid paying $16.50 upfront before attaining a table. Why?? Staff are money grubbers. Customer service is nonexistent without any welcome greeting or smile. ICK! Merry Land takeout menu readily are available as substitute for business cards. Atmospheric conditions are very dingy and dilapidated where seating is tightly packed as patrons are bumping elbow to elbow. Family oriented setting where children are running amok in a Chinese version of a shoddy McDonald's. Facilities are disgusting as it equate to a dive bar for the walls are scrawled with graffiti writing of permanent marker. Notes: Cash only as there is a sign tact on the buffet bar visible adjacent the long queue by the entrance. Actual address is 325 East 149th Street on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx.

*$7.25 for AYCE and AYCD soft drinks. HOLLA. They never stood a chance.* I am dreading the thought of my work schedule starting in July. 80 hours a week. Getting paid near minimum wage. Probably getting yelled at on the job. Blah blah blah. So basically I have to do new employee orientation before starting, and until I do officially start, I actually have time to sit down and eat lunch. Naturally, I turned to Yelp to find a go-to spot; unfortunately, da Bronx is not one of Yelp's most covered areas. Solution: do my part to explore and review! Trekking down E149 St, I came across what I would soon dub a sanctuary - an AYCE buffet known as Merry Land. Take out is as cheap as $3.50, but I was not interested in that. I wanted to notch another victory on my belt. This place is PACKED during lunch. Mad peeps sittin' down, and mad peeps gettin' take out. It amazes me how much some people can pile on to one plate/container, but that is besides the point. In any event, lunch time is go time, and whether you are sitting or peacing, you can get your fixin' in right quick. Typical chinese food items available on the buffet - different rices, general tso's, chicken and brocolli, beef and peppers, etc., but they also have some soul-food-type items such as wings and plantains. DELISH. I must mention they have seafood, sushi and fruits as well. There is, however, one jewel that pushes this buffet over the top. Yes the food is good, and hell yeah to $7.25 for AYCE/AYCD, but there is one dish that makes this buffet extra-amazing - the chinese donuts. Lordy, how I love those donuts. If you don't know what I am talking about, google it. These zeppole-like buns of glory can both propel me towards nirvana and bring me to my demise. I welcome them with arms wide open. +1 Taste +1 Selection +1 Bang for buck +2 Chinese donuts Glad I came. Been here thrice in one week. I will return... perhaps more than I should.

Kinda dingy looking restaurant serving eat-all-you-can Chinese-America buffet, you can also order dishes too. Staff are not that friendly and the food is so-so. They put up notices saying maximum you can sit there and eat is 2 hours, how lame is that. I never been back there since King Buffet which is bigger, cleaner and have better food opened nearer to our home.

Well I didn't like the waitress asking me to pay before I even removed my coat or sat down lol. But after I gave a tip along with my payment they became very nice . You get what you pay for here, all the food was good but not much selection . No soup , the smallest selection of deserts I have ever seen . Mind you I didn't try everything but I didn't like the fried chicken . I loved the fried rice , and the Mac n cheese was great. All an all it was the smallest buffet I have ever seen . If your looking for the classic buffet this is not it , more of a basic buffet.

I wish there were more locations of this in Manhattan. We made an order at the desk before we seated ourselves and for a Saturday evening, there was quite a bit of open tables which was great. I ordered the Szechuan Braised Beef Noodles and they were absolutely delicious. The noodles tasted a bit like ramen noodles but they were able to grab all the delicious and garlic flavored soup. I really appreciated the soft-boiled egg with its marinated egg whites. I also loved the big tender beef chunks as well. Overall, I really cannot wait to go back to Zhongzhong noodles and I hope that they open up more locations. I will say though that since I last went to the Roosevelt Island location, they have raised their prices quite a bit - maybe $2 or $3 per dish.

We have a staple restaurant from which we always order but one of this place's dishes stuck out to me and had great reviews so that was what made me take a chance with them. I saw this picture of their Shrimp Chow Mei Fun everywhere and the shrimp were huge. People said it was a really good dish so I had to try it. I will say that it tastes really good but this recession has definitely affected the shrimp size. They serve medium-sized shrimp in this dish and the pictures where saw extra large shrimp, are likely no more. The flavor was still really good and I suggest asking for some chili oil as well, if you don't have any at home. That's a game-changer. We had their sesame chicken, shrimp dumplings, sautéed broccoli and wonton soup, which were all very good. They even pan fried the dumplings as requested. Their shrimp and egg rolls were fried very hard which I don't like. It's a little difficult for my daughter to eat the hard exterior as well. The fantail shrimp were very sad. I'm used to them being mostly breading but these are ridiculous. The shrimp size is a fourth of the overall breading. If it's getting too expensive to serve them, they may want to take them off the menu entirely and just serve fried shrimp or popcorn shrimp. They were literally that size. The house fried rice was also not a favorite. I'm not into super dark fried rice and it just seemed really hard. This is your run-of-the-mill neighborhood Chinese takeout spots I wasn't expecting gold standards but now I know how to order from them in the future if I ever have another craving for their Chow Mei Fun.
