Like other reviews have mentioned there are 2 areas for sundries and baked goods. You walk into the main area (sundries) and during COVID times there is a little line up area to go into the bakery. The bakery staff helps monitor the line and calls you into the bakery area when the area is clear enough in order to practice social distancing. The bakery is pretty fantastic, and worth the short wait. There is a large display case of homemade sweets, bars, and pastries, as well as a whole other savory section with things like empanadas. I love that there are also fresh and frozen breads, cookies, homemade dishes and soups. We've tried a variety of the sweets squares and loved every bite. We also tried a frozen chicken pot pie, which was delicious and the perfect size for 2 adults. Love the variety of apple ciders, tons of jam jars, special mustards, grilling spices and fresh produce. We even found a huge metal bin of extra virgin olive oil on sale. I always seem to find something special and delicious!

These plants are known to keep the air clean and are easy to care for - two absolute wins in my book. I was able to not only find a plant to take home, but also a trendy planter that matched my new bedroom decor. The best part was that an employee was kind enough to offer to pot it for us. There was a small fee for this (under $10), but it was worth it because I am not the most educated when it comes to that kind of thing. The employee was also very transparent with us when we asked if she could ensure the plant was in a healthy state, it was :). Happy to report my plant is alive and thriving! It is the closest farm to Guelph that I have seen so far. No admission but you need to pay for a small or large bouquet of sunflowers. Small is 25 which is what we got. Ensure to bring cash with you--it is a farm afterall! First 20 kids get feed for the animals and additional feed you can get for $2. We fed some goats and sheep, and some some cute little chicklets. They have a cuddling hour with chicklets at 11 however we have lunch and nap conflicts with that . After we went into the beautiful sunflower maze, walked around, took some wonderful pictures (there are curated spots for pictures), and picked up a few sunflowers! My toddler left quite pleased with themselves. Overall a wonderful experience with a wonderful family. Lots to do and great atmosphere. There is also coffee, lemonade & other items for sale but we were not in need.

This year, my wife wanted to get some new plants but most of the nurseries and stores near our place were either sold out of the ones she wanted or simply too expensive for what you get. After some research, we found that Harpers had the plants for a great price and it was a quick short drive away - perfect excuse for a road trip to Hamilton. We pre-ordered everything online ahead of time. They were doing front-door pick up so it was really convenient. I'm happy to see that the staff were practicing social distancing and took the necessary measures for everyone's safety. We took a quick walk through the nursery just to see what other selections they had and I have to say, that this is a great one stop shop for any gardening needs. Soil, tools, plant food, pots... anything you can think of they have it. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. It felt nice to be in a community space and not a big superstore like Lowes or Home Depot where you have to go chase down someone to get help. These are the kinds of businesses we should be supporting always, not just through a pandemic. I can't wait to order some more greens from Harpers. I always enjoy a good road trip!

The University of Guelph has an absolutely fantastic certified organic urban farm that you can…read morevolunteer at, learn from, or visit to purchase fantastic, affordable, local organic produce from during their fall Farmer's Market (Thursdays from 12:30 - 4:30 through the end of October and cash only; check their website to confirm.) I toured the farm with a small group after a conference at Guelph University. We got to try a bunch of the produce that was growing - including phenomenal cherry tomatoes, and the best carrot I've ever eaten in my life. The farm teaches students and community members, supplies food to the community and to local chefs, and helps the university by composting all their waste and providing a lot of the vegetables used in university dining halls. They grow a ton of specialty and interesting fruits and veggies - litchi tomatoes, lemongrass, bitter melon, tons of leafy greens, asparagus, and more. They're a model of sustainable, community based agriculture. Word on the street is that the University is trying to pave over a huge portion of the farm for a new research center. When my wife and I were looking for a specific rose bush, we were able to find it here where we were not able to find it anywhere else. This was also the place I was able to find a Bloomerang lilac when they were sold out everywhere else (wow that seems so long ago).
