I talked to the folks at Bogle seeds about how to get birds on the feeder and what kinda seeds to use, they didn't try to upswell me at all in fact discouraged me from getting some of the items that were in their store saying I don't really need it right now(like the squirrel buster). I bought they seed mix and some sunflower chips and I'm seeing all kinds of birds in my backyard, cardinals blue jays etc. I am now a regular and get my seeds from there. They also have sunflower field I think in the summer but I'm not sure how it's going to work out during the lockdown.

My husband and I went to this cute farm last weekend and it was worth the visit! I heard about it…read morethrough articles and I was impressed by the pictures of their sunflower fields, which were even more beautiful in person! At certain viewpoints around the farm, it looked like endless fields of tall sunflowers - it was honestly so pretty that it looked like a painting. I had a lot of fun taking so many pictures here - it's impossible not to get beautiful photos here, even if you're just using your phone. There was also a 1.3 km trail around and between the sunflower fields which was scenic and just really nice to walk around them on a summer's day. The sunflowers are currently at their peak and usually around for about 2-3 weeks depending on weather, so go as soon as possible if you're planning to visit this summer. The sunflowers are also apparently planted every 3 years after this summer so the next time won't be until 2021. When I visited (2nd day of the blooming sunflower fields being open), there were lots of people as expected on that Saturday afternoon but there was still plenty of parking, which is free. Note that there is a $7.50 cash admission fee per person before getting into the grassy parking area. It is very accessible for the elderly and families with babies or small children - several were walking on the trails with strollers. There is also a little shop inside a barn where you can buy bird seeds and feeders. Some other reminders: wear bug spray as there are definitely mosquitoes around, especially the further you walk into the fields and on the trails. If you're allergic to bees or just hate being around them, there are many of them if you go between the rows of sunflowers so just something to keep in mind. Also, it's really dusty and a bit muddy in some areas between the rows of sunflowers so remember not to wear nice shoes or sandals if you plan on taking pictures in there - I sadly know from experience. Keep these things in mind and you'll have a great time! Enjoy this cute farm!

It is the closest farm to Guelph that I have seen so far. No admission but you need to pay for a small or large bouquet of sunflowers. Small is 25 which is what we got. Ensure to bring cash with you--it is a farm afterall! First 20 kids get feed for the animals and additional feed you can get for $2. We fed some goats and sheep, and some some cute little chicklets. They have a cuddling hour with chicklets at 11 however we have lunch and nap conflicts with that . After we went into the beautiful sunflower maze, walked around, took some wonderful pictures (there are curated spots for pictures), and picked up a few sunflowers! My toddler left quite pleased with themselves. Overall a wonderful experience with a wonderful family. Lots to do and great atmosphere. There is also coffee, lemonade & other items for sale but we were not in need.

While your Romaine lettuce was edible, the trip to your new location cost me not only 7 hours in the ER room at Brantford General Hospital today but also the 12.00 in parking I paid for that privilege. Thankfully I did not have a concussion but it was a painful long day of waiting to be seen for help today. Besides having a rug for customers to walk on, I would suggest you get your construction crew back to rough up your floors especially the wee ramp upon exiting. My family and I ended up here as part of a Guess Where trips adventure. It was me, my sister, my…read morebrother in law, and my nephews (3 & 5). The animals were all so friendly, we felt completely comfortable with the young boys walking through and petting. They also had a lot of fun feeding the chickens and ducks. The one employee we saw was helpful, friendly, and kind. Not a bad place for a family outing, and being an animal sanctuary makes it that much better.

One of the big draws for us is their very tastefully curated market shop which has everything from costume jewellery, home decor/accoutrements, classy tableware etc. Their name branded Springridge Farm chutneys, BBQ seasonings, rubs and salad dressings are outstanding! Every year they increase their repertoire. They have a ton of other jarred comestibles. They have a lovely bakery/coffee shop on site where you can relax in the garden under the large trees.

Springridge was about a 35 minute drive from our place, so it was an easy decision. We arrived around lunchtime and the place was already quite crowded but fortunately there was plenty of parking. We were all a bit peckish, so lunch was the first order of the day. I decided to go with the Smoky BBQ Pulled Chicken ("Crispy Onions, Chipotle Aioli, Potato Scallion Bun. Served with Kettle Chips") and it was handed to me within a minute of paying. It's a decent sandwich. The less-than-generous amount of pulled chicken is pretty tasty and the fresh, soft bread goes with it perfectly. The kettle chips were tasty, too. The rest of the place is fairly nice, although we were a little surprised at how expensive it is to visit the attractions. With tax, the total for two people came out to $35! It's a little outrageous given that there isn't a whole lot to do back there, although feeding the baby goats was a highlight. (Even that, however, you had to pay extra for.) Springridge is cute enough, though I doubt it's worth almost $100 for a couple hours of entertainment.

The University of Guelph has an absolutely fantastic certified organic urban farm that you can…read morevolunteer at, learn from, or visit to purchase fantastic, affordable, local organic produce from during their fall Farmer's Market (Thursdays from 12:30 - 4:30 through the end of October and cash only; check their website to confirm.) I toured the farm with a small group after a conference at Guelph University. We got to try a bunch of the produce that was growing - including phenomenal cherry tomatoes, and the best carrot I've ever eaten in my life. The farm teaches students and community members, supplies food to the community and to local chefs, and helps the university by composting all their waste and providing a lot of the vegetables used in university dining halls. They grow a ton of specialty and interesting fruits and veggies - litchi tomatoes, lemongrass, bitter melon, tons of leafy greens, asparagus, and more. They're a model of sustainable, community based agriculture. Word on the street is that the University is trying to pave over a huge portion of the farm for a new research center. My friend was excited to visit this farm for the first time to view the sunflowers, even though it…read morewas a bit late in the season. I have to say, it was very far, but once we reached the outer skirts of Mississauga into Milton, I found the drive very peaceful. The farm is on 165 acres of escarpment countryside, and the current admission is $12/per person over the age of 5 years old. There were plenty of parking spots on the grassy areas, and washrooms are available. Inside the main building is a winery and shop that sells homemade goodies, including tarts, pies, jams, drinks, fresh fruits ... but on the pricey side! I personally can't imagine paying $18.50 for a pie made with lard. A bbq lunch is available on weekends. Note that you can't bring outside food onto the grounds. We brought a lunch but ended up tailgating. We missed the berry picking season (sold by weight), but I was pleasantly surprised to see many chickens running around right at my feet! The baby goats were adorable. They also had pigs, ducks, sheep, and other animals. There were plenty of beautiful dahlias ($2 each), but some of the sunflowers were wilting. In hindsight, early August would have been ideal. We came on a cloudy day but still captured some nice photos. We had an enjoyable afternoon.
