Great pizza and service. Would highly recommend but get there early as the place fills up fast!!!

Me an a co-worker went to give this place a shot, based on the decent reviews. Well, it wasn't very good. We were greeted nice, and had no problems placing our order. The prices were also good. We ordered a 12" regular crust with pep and sausage, 2 drinks. All for 13 bucks. Pizza got delivered quickly, and the workers are nice. Then we tried to get our pieces of pizza. It was so greasy and the crust soaked that it was like trying to pick up a wet wash cloth. The whole underside of the pizza was nothing but grease! Well, we were hungry so we ate it. The ingredients tasted ok, the cheese was a bit too much like Wedgy's. The Crust was soaked in grease. The sauce also is very generic. It really needs to be Italian'd up with more spice! It's very. "meh". I think the staff is nice enough to give the following: 5 stars to staff 2 stars to pizza 4 stars for the restaurant, it was clean and quiet. Decent atmosphere 2 star for location, getting in and out is a pain. read more

What a rip off! This place used to be great. I ordered two salads for delivery. They didn't ring up the added grilled chicken and delivered them. I called because I paid 17.00 for two salads which were lettuce, tomato, cheese and onion. The girl was so rude and told me that I did order the chicken but they didn't add it to the salad and didn't charge me for it. And if I wanted to pay another delivery fee they could ring some up for me and bring it to me. Over priced and terrible customer service. Never again. There are better options in Greer for the money. Sorry, used to be one of my favorites but they have gone downhill. read more

So glad I discovered this joint. I love the fact that you can order by the slice. Two slice combos offered with a drink or pint. Beer choices amazing for a small place. As a New Yorker, this is the most authentic pizza reminding me of home. Crust is thin and crispy to perfection. They just earned another loyal customer. read more

Wings are the bees knees. Crispy? Yes. White meat? Yes. Buttery goodness? Yes. Pizza sauce is a touch too sweet for my liking, but I don't do pizza there. Reasonably priced for a family owned buisness and customer service is always great. Beer on tap with sitting for half a dozen at the bar. They have wing night too. They also have a new spot in Easley opening up. Side note: While in another buisness the owner was there for Merrells (tshirt and pronounced himself as the owner). WREAKED of smoke. I really can't tell you if I like the pizza, because we have been waiting 2 hours for the delivery. I was told it would take 45 mins when I placed the order. I was told it was out for delivery 40 minutes ago when I called to inquire about the delay. At this point, I'm leaving to go get food from somewhere else. I really love eating from Merrell's. Their chicken wings are perfect and calzone amazingly filling! The staff is super friendly and always a pleasure to order from. I was looking for a place to grab a couple slices & a beer since I was worn out from working in the heat at my Community Garden. Pros: great value 2 large slices & a pint $6.99. Fresh. Excellent service especially for lunch time. I wouldn't call this NY thin crust but it's definitely not a hand toss. The outer crust was pretty thick. Seemed to be a lot of regulars. Cons: the sauce was too sweet for my liking. It tasted like Prego but I can't imagine a pizza joint using that. They may just have added to much sugar to their sauce. This is a review for 8 during dinner hours. We had a table reserved for us which was very nice. You order at the bar and receive a table number and your meal is delivered to your table. I ordered first with 3 other pizzas ordered for our table behind me. In about 30 minutes all the pizzas arrived but mine. I waited another 10 minutes before inquiring about the pizza as I watched many other pizzas come being served. The waitress said it would be 2 more minutes. Another 10 minutes went by and our table was just about finished eating when the pizza arrived. The waitress said sorry for the wait and didn't offer any compensation. It took me a while to decide what I wanted to write in this review... We are from Brooklyn, NY and have found A LOT of fantastic pizza in Greer/Greenville since we moved here....So we had high hopes for Merrell's because they're so close to our house and we saw that they had slices at lunch. So from our experience, when you order a "slice" it is taken from a cheese pie. They add the toppings that you want and then re-bake the slices briefly in the oven...When we got our slices at Merrell's we could tell something was slightly "off" about them. As we were eating them, we kept trying to analyze them and why something seemed awry. Visually, we could tell they weren't made in that standard way because the cheese didn't go all the way to the edge indicating that they weren't cut from a whole pie. There was a thin border of just sauce on the side of each slice...Texturally, the sauce seemed kind of grainy/had almost combined with the pizza dough, and the cheese was sliding right off of the slice. We like our pizza well-done, and the slices not to be floppy...but these seemed almost *too* stiff. Again, like they weren't fresh. I'll even go as far as to say I'm not convinced that the dough is hand-tossed. My best guess is that they pre-make the dough and put the sauce on it, then cut it into slices and freeze it...then when someone orders a slice, they put the cheese and toppings on it and bake it that way. It almost sounds crazy, but there's no other way they would end up tasting/feeling/looking this way in my opinion. Was it BAD? No. Was it GOOD? Double no. Looking at the pictures, and other reviews, their pies look completely different from their slices (which is also why I think they do them differently)...so maybe down the road, we'll give them a shot with a pie, but definitely will be skipping them for any slice orders. Definitely not an experience we will be repeating, especially with better pizza options in town! read more

Like a few of my other reviews. I struggle between a 3 and a 4. It is average to above average in all categories. I leaned towards a 4 on this one because the crust is really good. It is like New York pizza crust. Crispy and tough with a little sweetness. The toppings are pretty average. The cheese is good, but not freshly made. The sausage and pepperoni were both your standard quality. Not bad, but not special. The salad was nicely done with a fresh ranch dressing. The service is always good and quick. The price is great. $16 for 3 big slices, 2 soft drinks and 2 side salads. We were both full when we left, tipped over 20% and had change from a $20. Cannot beat that. read more

Best Ranch dressing ever. It is made in house. Thin crust pizza is fantastic. If you love mushrooms, you MUST get the sausage stuffed mushrooms and dip them in the ranch. My son says the wings are one of the best he has ever had. He is 12 and loves his wings. read more

Tried again, this time we went with the chicken Parmesan dinner and the "famous" wings. I really can't believe this place has survived in business so long. The chicken Parmesan has TWO CHICKEN FINGERS on top of a bowl of soupy Fettuccini, covered in cheese. Two chicken fingers. For the same price you can get two entire breasts in any number of other Italian restaurants. The "famous" wings are dry, and no different than wings you can get at fast food joints like Zaxby's. The salad is made with shredded lettuce. The same they use on sandwiches. I just don't understand why I would ever come here again. The family and I love this place. The pizza is always excellent (especially the specialty ones), and the wings are amazing. The homemade ranch and blue cheese dressings are so good that we always order a bunch extra to take home. The service is always great, and the atmosphere is bright and family-friendly, but you can still have a beer or 3 if you are so inclined. Merrell's is a classic neighborhood pizza joint, in the best possible way. It's super casual- You order at the counter and get a number and they bring your food out. They've got a good beer selection, and $6 pitchers, and you can refill your soft drinks yourself, so no waiting. We got the vegan pizza with a friend and it was so good we keep ordering it even though we're not vegan! Pasta is excellent, too. read more
