I let Alyssa know that I was doing this to see if the fence is mine or not on my property,because I wanted to take it out. I was told it may take three weeks to get out. They ended up doing the job in about 2 weeks with no communication. Joe put up 4 corners on my property. Which honestly did me no good, I could not properly determine if the fence is mine or not. I paid $1200 and was told to "eye ball" the sticks to see if its mine or not. My property curves, so its ridiculous they would even say that. Also the stick is only about a foot above the ground and there are trees making it impossible to see the other side. I called and they said they would come out Tuesday in the afternoon to put a middle stake up. No one showed up and no communication. I called letting them know my disappointment. They eventually came out the next day without me there, my whole reason was to speak to Joe about the property lines. I cant tell you how upset I am with their whole process and lack of communication/professionalism.

When the inspection date arrived, he was 10-15 mins early and was busy the whole time. He was incredibly thorough and spent over 2 hours inspecting. After it was over, he went through everything he found on the exterior and interior and gave us a few helpful tips since we were 1st time homeowners and new to the high desert area. Dale explained everything in an easy to understand way and was very nice and professional. He sent us a very clear and detailed inspection report the same afternoon with pics of everything.In addition to this he was about $150 cheaper than the other inspector someone recommended. I hired HouseMaster for a full home inspection at 16485 Wintun Rd in Apple Valley, including a sewer camera scope. Before the inspection, I specifically raised concerns about possible root intrusion due to the age of the home and surrounding trees. David responded in writing that he could "check the sewer lines via camera to prevent very costly repairs due to cracks and root issues," and positioned this as a cost-saving alternative to hiring a plumber. I relied on that representation. After closing, we discovered root intrusion in the plumbing connected to the downstairs bathroom. David's response was that he only inspects the main line. That is not how the service was presented. If a service is sold as protection against costly root issues, a reasonable buyer expects it to identify meaningful root-related problems, or at minimum to clearly warn that the areas most likely to contain root intrusion are excluded. That did not happen. More concerning is the inspection report's treatment of the railings. The report identifies only two loose rear patio railings and one front stair railing. In reality, approximately ten railings throughout the property, plus the exterior gate, were pulling away from the stucco. This includes the long front entry railing, all upstairs patio railings, and multiple rear railings. Several appeared to have been previously held in place with silicone caulk instead of proper anchors. This is not a minor oversight. It is a widespread, visible safety hazard involving elevated areas and fall risk. These conditions were not hidden. They were plainly observable. Reducing a systemic failure of this scale to a couple of isolated items is a material understatement of the property's condition. To be clear, I am not expecting perfection or that every minor issue be identified. I am expecting that visible, safety-critical defects be accurately reported and that services sold as protection against major risks are described honestly. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. If you are relying on an inspection to make a purchasing decision, especially for an older home, you should strongly consider obtaining independent specialists rather than relying on bundled services that may not be as comprehensive as they are presented.

I hired Merrell Johnson to survey my 5 acre property in the High Desert because I believed the fence line was off (it was!). I received their quote and, I initially thought it was kind of high. I talked to some other surveyors who could not do the job and, was informed that it was in the ballpark. On the day of the survey, Steve (surveyor) and his assistant showed up early and got right to work. I was impressed with the thoroughness of the work and their professionalism. And, I learned a lot. Steve explained to me what the survey showed in relation to the parcel map and the legal description of my property. The things I learned were very helpful.
