This is such a great store. Plenty of selection from retro games to current gen. Most last-gen games had the original case and manual, which is much better than what you'll find at big stores like Gamestop. They give good trade-in credit here too. I really appreciated the customer service here. No upselling, no rushing, and they even cleaned the discs I bought. They also do resurfacing for a few dollars per disc, which is not a bad price. There are lots of Lego figures, strategy guides, and movies in addition to games themselves. Highly recommend this store. read more

Went to purchase an NES Controller and Game for an old original NES system. We tested it in the shop and it would not turn on, purchased a new 72 PIN connector for NES installed it and it works perfectly fine. It did require quite a bit of cleaning on the motherboard connector with Brasso for the cartridge pin connector. The power light is no longer blinking. Thanks again for the advice on the cleaning and for information on the cartridge hex key for cleaning the cartridges. :-) read more

The only reason why I gave it a one star is because of the employee with the fohawk treats me right and because Yelp makes me to or else they would be 0/5 Stars for me and also the other employee which looks like his brother is very rude and doesn't like to work at all. Prices over priced and return policy doesn't seem fitting. They do pick up the phone when I call, but when I'm there they tell me a different price that it actually is.... overall bad video game store; GRADE: D. I agree with others here. If you are just looking to buy the latest hit game, drive yourself to Best Buy or Wally Mart. If you want to get the feel for what a real game store is about, come to Mero Games. I grew up in the days of Pong, Breakout and Space invaders. I remember when the Atari 2600 came out and was the holy grail of gaming! Most kids nowadays wouldn't know what that system is. But look on the wall at Mero and you can buy one for your very own along with a ton of games for it. And that is what makes this store so cool. The nostalgia factor. Old and new games side by side. Tons of titles, old and new. And the ambiance of a family business that is there to please the customer and not just make a buck. It is rare to see a store like this anymore that isn't part of a huge chain. Their prices are competitive. Selection is good. and if they don't have what you want, they will get it for you fast. Not when the next "truck" comes in, like the big box stores. As for the customer service, if you have a question, ask! Why is it that everyone expects someone to greet them at the door? I, myself, prefer to walk in a store and not be bothered. To look around and not be badgered by "Can I help you find something?" every two minutes. Part of the fun of a store like this is being able to look at all that is there. You might even find something you didn't expect. I really do like this game store. I have been able to find a lot of games and systems there which I wouldn't find anywhere else. As well as the prices being good. Although I just purchased a used gba game there which my dsi won't even read, and a second on at the same time which is playing but is just acting funky. I have yet to get a chance to go down there and exchange/return it, depending on their policies that is. They do need to check their merchandise more closely before selling it to the public. Besides that my only complaint is how unfriendly the staff is. I've been in there on several occasions and didn't have a single word said to me until I went to check out. Even when I was looking at games and systems in the case no help was offered. And each time whomever I was with and I were the only people in the store, and it's a very small store. Considering how small businesses tend to be knocked out by huge conglomerates you would think they would show a bit more interest in their customers. read more

Gamestop tries to sell you a million preorders you don't want, but these guys know how not to make their customers uncomfortable with persistent up-sells. Their trade-in system is fair and they'll even give you cash for old games (though store credit will still get you more value). I love this place. I pretty much just hand them my credit card when I walk in. They always give me a good deal without the pressure of haggling. I have added some great games to my collection there plus I picked up a Neo Geo in very good condition at a very reasonable price which I will always be great full for. This is another great video game retailer, though not as good as Next Gen in LA. Mero has a decent selection of retro systems, accessories, and games to check out- as well as toys and other collectibles. Yet again, another great place that doesn't hassle you regarding reserves and 'discount' cards. The workers are knowledgeable and nice and will always answer questions/concerns. They bought a few games I had on craigslist and told me to come in and its also what first brought me back into the store. I've attended a tournament there and the whole "vibe" of the store is great in my own experiences. They helped hook me up when my sisters wii got stolen. As far as professional standards go, sure there lacking a little. But most of the people that work there are just gamers like the rest of us. As far as selection goes sure they don't have a ton for the newer systems but its easily the best place around for older style games. & if your going into the store to look for a game why not just call in before going to see if they have it? & if they don't you can order specific games if requested on. read more

The staff doesn't hassle you constantly to get you in and out as quickly as possible, but they're very helpful. They're extremely knowledgeable as well. My friend got a game from them for Christmas, and when we stopped by a few months later to kill time she casually mentioned to one of the staff that the game she got came a bit scratched. The guy apologized, said he'd resurface it, and if that didn't work replace it for free. If you're looking for a used game, you'll probably get your best deal here. They've also got older, previous generation games if you're shopping for someone who is a bit more retro. For gamers: You're going to get the best deal on used games or trade ins here. The guys behind the front desk won't constantly hassle you like at big corporate stores, so you're completely free to browse the cheapies until you find something interesting. The guys behind the front desk are pretty chill, so feel free to discuss things with them if you're on the fence about something or want to find a really specific older game. They've got a lot more behind the front desk than just whats on the shelves. They've got everything from the newest triple A stuff to old SNES games. In short, if you've got time to kill, this isn't a bad place to go. You can probably pick up a game you missed out on a long time ago on the cheap and play it. Overall? Just goooo! This store is horrible,bad deals for selling and buying, once I bought a game there he said was working , when I got home the battery was dry ,he ignored me even though I was talking to him and he was on his phone and then after I almost yelled at him he still wouldn't look up at me to talk to me.I guess customers aren't important to him.Also I sold a controller there for 8$ cuz he said it was worth 10$.....seems fair until I walk in the next day and it selling for 50$!!!!He lied to a customer.All in all just go to eBay,a swap meet,another store to get a WAY better deal. read more
