When I got there, the owner let us in and I began to look around. Everything was a mess, orders were in boxes scattered all over the place. It looked like a bomb went off. The owner was busy helping my dad so I just started looking around. I picked a few things from the wall and began shopping. I had my 2 year old on my shoulders so he wouldn't grab things he shouldn't. When I went down one of the aisles to pick out a body for my sons slot car, the owner got weird and told me I couldn't look at the things I wanted to buy. My impression was he was really afraid I was going to steal something. My budget for his shop was 500 bucks. After the way he treated me, I politely put everything back and decided I would take my business elsewhere. This business looks like it's failing. If you order anything on the web, I would be surprised if you got it in time let alone what you actually ordered. I will never buy anything from this place, even if it was the last local business left in the world. eBay is much more friendlier than this place. We called ahead and made arrangements to be there, when we got there he acted like our money wasn't good enough. Honestly, I don't think I was white enough for this dude. And I never throw down that card, it's just how I felt. 250 miles round trip to be a complete waste of time.

People go to play different formats, and the owner sets the tone and is the barometer for the "weather" in general. Friendly, welcoming shops tend to build stronger smoother sailing communities. I didn't get that here. When I asked about local EDH events, I was told there's one Commander night. That's cool but I only play edh so I'm curious for other areas. When I asked about the broader EDH community, the owner was dismissive and overly corrective. It felt closed-off rather than supportive, especially when he made it clear he doesn't promote anything beyond his own store. That approach doesn't work for me. I prefer spaces with a more open-minded, generous vibe, not a "there can be only one" mentality. As an old-school player, I value basic respect and being part of a positive, inclusive nerd community. I'll look elsewhere.

Dear Hubby and I were out at Ventura Harbor on a Sunday to beat the inland heat. It was an easy drive to swing by this location while heading in the general direction of home. I hadn't been to this location in a while. The visit proved to be a better experience than one of the previous time which I wrote about in another posting. The store was in good condition - stocked and clean. The yarn department is slightly larger than I remember. Since Joann's went out of business last year, it offered more opportunity for Michael's to step it up for the knitters and crocheters to have a bigger selection to choose from locally. I do try to support local businesses, versus ordering online. I was able to pick out several shades of my favorite yarn to purchase that day. Unfortunately, they weren't on sale. I had a coupon for one item at 30% off full price, so that helped. Also, apparently I look like a senior to anyone under 25 (well, I am, but still . . .), as the cashier applied a senior discount without being asked. All told, the price came out a little higher than I had hoped, but within an acceptable amount. Like many things that don't originate in the USA, tariff prices have affected yarn. What used to be $10 or $11 a skein is now $14. Ouch. This store, like many, have added self-checkout kiosks. I don't like them. I'd much rather interact with a human associate, and help save their jobs. Also, I had a couple of questions that a computer couldn't answer. As such, I had to wait in line longer to be able to speak with said associate. I'd say at a store that promotes creativity, forcing patrons to use the kiosks kills off some of the pleasure of thinking about creative endeavors. Speaking of creativity, I forgot to take any photos this time. They were starting to heavily feature Halloween and fall merchandise. Some of the 'ween decorations were interesting.

I parked in the curbside pickup spot, after waiting a couple minutes I started wondering if they'd gotten my order. I called and inquired about my order, the employee kindly stated their app stopped receiving curbside orders @ 5:30pm. She was so gracious and still brought out my order. I was so thankful because I needed all the items for the following day! I'd definitely come back, all the items were accounted for and packaged well.

While I could see it being a nice place to play for some especially with it boasting many weekly events for a variety of card games (Lorcana, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, Pokemon), I felt the sealed and single selections were both pricey and less plentiful compared to what I have seen at other shops. Some services such as the charging station are great to offer especially when games of commander can take up a an hour or more!

Small card shop, but huge inventory of cards and products!…read more My gf bought me some prizm basketball, and prismatic packs from this shop, and she pulled a Wemby /75 and eevee master ball! We didn't have any penny sleeves or toploaders so I needed to come back. The owner was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The prices for everything was also very competitive and reasonably priced. They also do grading services which I can't wait to bring my cards in to get graded! Overall the experience was great and I can't wait to come back here!

However every time I've gone the…read moreservice wasn't great and each time I asked a price the guy had to text the owner and have me wait for a response and when I did the price was way over market price on let's say TCGplayer.com which is usually what stores go by. Also to sell they offered 60 percent store credit which is criminal( usually the baseline for people buying is 70-80 on low end. Idk obviously it's going to be more expensive because resell but Pokémon was not even close to market. The kids working there could have more of a presence also when people come in looking to buy.
