I walked right over. The place is cute and clean. It's on the second floor so you have to buzz to get up to them, by the way. Anyhow, I was taken back to wax room. The asthetichian did her thang. I loved it. It was relatively painful and she knew what she was doing. She was also very very nice. Buttttt, here's the problem. When I went to check out, $15!!!! $15 for 5mins of a lip wax?! Have you lost your mind?? Unfortunately for Complexions, there are a ton of other places in Chitown that I can go to that won't charge this ridiculous amount for JUST a lip wax. She was annoyed my hair was still somewhat wet and she said to make sure I wash it the night before and to tell all my bridesmaids to wash it the night before. Ok, not an issue. The makeup portion went fine we had a good conversation, so things were looking up. I think she did a great job on my eyes, but I really wanted some great contouring and I don't think she did that. Hair, this is where we went downhill. She said my hair was dry. I apologized and promised to use product before the wedding. She said not to use product the week before because she wouldn't be able to do anything with it, I've never heard of such a thing. I asked for two pieces left out to curl to frame my face. While trying to curl them she said she didn't like these pieces and asked if she can just CUT them off! She was frustrated I didn't have extensions. And I told her I was open to them if it was needed to achieve the look and if she couldn't do that without them to focus on either the updo part or just curl the bottom. Idk why, but she teased the bottom. It looked like a rats nest. I don't understand how she could leave it like that. How would that make me want to come back with my bridal party!? Maybe I was just an inconvenience and she didn't want me to come back? Really disappointed. As soon as I saw it I said thank you and paid $150. I didn't bother to comment or ask her to change anything cause at that point I knew I'd be going elsewhere.

As much as I love this brand and have been brand loyal for nearly 10+ years there are certain nuances which push me over the edge with a lot of it pertaining to their packaging. Case in point: I use the 20-25% shea butter hand crème year-round. It's especially useful during the winter months because this hand crème works miracles on my hands. The shea butter keeps them soft, moisturized and supple. The winter weather does a number on my fingertips causing my skin to painfully crack around my fingernails. Iykyk! My biggest pet peeve and why I'm giving this place 3 stars is due to the packaging for this hand crème. I've posted a picture and I absolutely hate the blue cap they use for this tube. As you can see the cap is super tiny and screwing it back on is a pain. You really have to have a steady hand to seal it closed when twisting the cap back on. The minute that cap slips off your fingers, which I 100% guarantee it will, it's pretty much game over. There have been countless times I've lost this silly little cap where it falls in crevices making it nearly impossible to find and reach for. Their shower oil refill also has that damn twist off cap and I have that pic to prove it too! My suggestion/solution is to have a tethered ring attached to the base of the nozzle and make it standard for all of their products requiring said cap. It's a super simple fix I hope the company takes into consideration. As much as I love L'Occitane's products, they need to "zoooo bettah" when it boils down to the minor product packaging details. The little things mean a lot. Especially when I'm paying nice coin for it. Overall, the products are superb. Just work on the packaging if you want to keep your loyal customer base happy. If you want their products and you can make it downtown I HIGHLY recommend the Block 37 location. The Block 37 location has nice staff year after year and it always feels like they have tons in stock despite being about the same size if not smaller than the Old Orchard one. A little bit of welcoming energy goes a long way especially around holiday shopping.
