My husband and I decided to take a drive up to Idyllwild to celebrate Valentine's Day early. I had never been to this beautiful quaint town before. We happened to stumble upon this adorable shop and was pleasantly surprised to find a vast collection of amazing teas that I have been searching all over for. The best part was some of the metaphysical items they have in the shop. I am not sure if the friendly staff who helped us were the owners or not but they were extremely helpful and informed us that we could order from them online. Ron & Kathy are great!! This is supposed to be a tea shop, but that's only a starting point. They have the most unbelievable selection of teas, and the even create their own blends. If you like tea, you will LOVE this place. There is no place to sit and drink the tea. It is mostly a store with tea from everywhere in the world to aid in the improvement of every human ailment. What a great surprise to discover this wonderful store. I purchased a few teas as well as a tea strainer and intend to finally acquire the concentration and improve my health through the wonder of tea leaves. Don't go in there with a small dog. Based on my experience I would avoid it totally I asked if i could come in with a dog - a 16 pound newly coiffed Havipoo--when i saw a water tank dispenser. When i asked if she could have some,they said use the water in the alley. I told them it was frozen. Then said I would buy the $1 water. Handed a 4 ounce paper cup into which i dispensed this valuable filtered water? (Really). Then I was told to take the dog out to drink the water as the water will get all over. I said that i will tip it as her tongue gets it. One drop later on their unremarkable industrial grade carpet he says "see." I saw all right. Put the dollar on the counter and left. Bad business practice as I had planned to get quite a few gifts there. This is a town where the mayor is a dog. No food was being served. Oh well. Some folks don't get it. I suggest they not choose to make a living in retail. read more

My husband and i wandered in here while on a weekend getaway to Idyllwild. I am not a die hard tea drinker but I do enjoy to have a cup a few times a week. This little store has SO MANY different teas to choose from, including their own customized blends! It was so hard to choose just one but I got the Fairy Garden blend and it is so nice and enjoyable. This is one of the main reasons I visit Idyllwild!! This is as good as it gets for TEA! House-made blends, imported specialties, and fresh herbal remedy teas.....HEAVEN. The owners are SUPER welcoming and VERY knowledgeable about all their teas, as well as the benefits. HUGE selection of so many types, the energy of the place is super calm and welcoming. The prices are MUCH better than what you would expect for a specialty shop. Anytime we visit Idyllwild we have to spend atleast 45 minutes in Merkaba due to sampling tea, checking out any new tea varieties, and of course deciding which teas to take back home! I highly recommend the Macha Green, the Zzz and the Full Moon Teas...DIVINE! If you ask about which teas would be best for any ailments you are experiencing, the Owners are very helpful in assisting you with choosing a beneficial tea/herbal remedy. What a find. Never drank teas before happening upon this eclectic tea store but I love it! Not just for their knowledge and numerous teas from all over but for all the other things I want and buy there. I love the ambiance and the energy, the wind chimes as well as the incense and the artsy things I find. Recommend this to anyone. Stock up if you live further away. Not customer friendly at all. My boyfriend and I stopped in yesterday in good spirits to look at tea after a long hike. In a place where light should be fostered, they made us feel unwelcome and awkward. They were cold to us and never took their eyes off of us, suspicious the entire time. Finally stopped in to this little gem of a store! Yes they have tea and tea pots and cups and little tea leaf holders, and we bought some but they are also a store for those who are Lady of the Lake fans. They have gemstones and whimsical figurines, wind chimes, and pendulums. Get the tea infused chocolate (sample it first!) We got dark chocolate with chili pepper. We missed out on trying a whole serving of a "pick your own tea to try" for a dollar or maybe it was 3 bucks but we will do so next time. Get specialty salts (himalayan) and spices (nutmeg) here! Also get difficult to find herbs such as mugwort, here! Ginseng gum is tasty for sure and so are the vials of it near the register. Local honey from temecula/hemet, mmm. The owners are wonderful and kind. There is a booklet hanging near the tins of tea to help you find a tea for a specific ailment or affect.. or ask for help and be guided properly! This place is a must see when traveling to Idyllwild! The people are amazing, the items they have in stock are beautiful and at an excellent price! Great selection of teas but the strong smell of incense overpowers your sense of smell making it hard to get the scent of the teas. I got a first flush darjeeling that is delicious but it was a purchase based on past darjeelings rather than what I could smell from the tea tin. read more

Not only does Merkaba have a wonderful selection of teas and herbs but their customer service is amazing! Ron and Kathy Campbell go out of their way to help customers with all kinds of ailments. They also carry items for any religious belief, which I really like as we are all connected and seeking the Divine. They know this and I love their non-judgemental attitude no matter what you have going on in your life. Tea lovers rejoice. This store has the finest selection of loose teas, and tea preparing items I have seen This side of the Atlantic. They also have on display art and handmade goods from local artisans. Which I was very pleased about. The owners run the place, they are Very friendly and Very well informed about the products they sell. Obviously a passion. I love the shop and the owners. In reply to Nora, the owners are quiet but friendly. You can ask questions and poke around all you want without a pesky salesman over your shoulder. I like that, to my mind this is the best shop in the town. You may have a different take. All the world religion stuff makes me uncomfortable a bit but I just try to ignore it while Im sipping the tea sample they always have. We bought one of those little cups that has the ceramic strainers and it works great. Whatever kind of tea you want they will have something you like that tastes better than your used to.
