This business is in a cute purple, old building, and it is really nice inside, but they have less things inside than I imagined they would. My absolutely favorite place to get tea and all tea related accessories. Everything in this store is amazing! My favorite teas are strawberry fields and golden starfruit but honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. They also have holistic teas for a plethora of ailments. I literally drive two hours to come here, yes I'm aware they sell online BUT I just love to visit. I look forward to my next visit, always! read more

Yuck! I have to agree with the other reviews...no greeting when you walk in, did not ask if we needed help with anything. The vibe in here is not welcoming or cheery like the rest of Idyllwild. I'll go to another place for tea, there's others to choose from. Too bad this place is right off circle drive. read more

Horrible customer service! My family and I walked in and was not greeted But the lady that came in after me was greeted I said hello to the lady and she didn't respond. The man keep giving my boys this ugly look. My boys were well behaved so I don't know why he keep giving them that ugly face. I'll never go there again. read more

this store is incredible! amazing selection of delicious teas with the option to smell them. There are custom mixes and healing mixes and single herbs in bulk. I absolutely love this shop! There are so many teas, like a lot a lot!! It's overwhelming but the owner was so kind and knowledgeable. She spent considerable time with me and my friends and helped recommend a variety of teas based on what we were looking for. Tons of cool tea accessories like mugs, infusers, honey sticks, etc! She only sells tea online but I reached out about ordering one of the mugs for my friends birthday who eyed it on our trip but talked herself out of it. Ariel (the owner) did a custom order for the mug and I added on some tea (of course!). I got everything in the mail three days later. Excellent business and attentive owner. Will definitely be utilizing her online shop for all my tea needs when I can't physically make it to her cozy little shop in the mountains. read more

I've been coming to this tea shop for years every time my husband and I come up to idyllwild to vacation. A wonderful shop with a huge selection of unique teas. Please give your business to Merkaba. A local opened a similar tea shop just a few yards down from this shop a few weeks ago. Of course the very nasty and malicious "inbred" locals are raving about the other shop. And giving that shop all the business when the tourists leave after the weekend. The owners are so nice. And the tea and other items are delicious and unique. It's typical a local would open a competing shop just a few yards away. Two tea shops within a few yards of each other. Merkaba is the beautiful purple shop. read more

We came in looking to stock up on tea. The gentleman working here gave us an overview of their vast selection and navigated us to the sections that were a good fit. After we picked out some wonderful blends, we picked up some nice honeys (orange, blackberry and buckwheat) to go with. What a wonderful experience! I will admit that I had much higher hopes on this shop, based on the reviews, which seem to be quite positive. It is small, yet very organised, filled with tumbled stones, essential oils, several books, and many teas that are unique or hard to find. If you are interested in teas, like I am, you will enjoy the many varieties to choose from. I am not sure if it was just an off day when we went, though the atmosphere and attitude of the owners seemed unwelcoming compared to other similar shops in the area -- for that, we will probably not return. However, I appreciate they do offer online ordering. Another option to help support local businesses, which I highly recommend doing, whenever possible. As for customers wearing masks or facial coverings, everyone we encountered while in the shop, did have one on. It was not crowded during the afternoon, on the weekday we visited. read more

This place is heaven for tea lovers. There was a nice person inside that was guiding people about which teas to try based on their ailments. I have had multiple people try their teas for my cupboard and ask where I got it. They sell in bulk and in small doses so you can try a few before buying a big bag. I appreciate that's it's broken up by tea type and caffeine free/caffeinated. They also have a cool collection of menorahs and reusable tea bags. I'll definitely be back because I need a refill on my new favorite teas! read more

The tea and the selection of tea are AMAZING. When I came here on vacation with my boyfriend, we sniffed several of the jars they had available. We also sampled their almond white tea; for someone with a sweet tooth, this tea was absolutely incredible. It was pricey (about $7.99 for a small bag), but it was so worth it. We made it ourselves at home and it just tasted so good. This is probably one of the very, very few places I've been to that has as large of a selection of tea. If you are a tea fanatic, stop by here. The moment I run out of my almond tea, I'm going to make sure and buy some through their website. I can't get enough of it! read more

All the cute novelty items and trinkets add an extra charm to this adorable little cottage, set in the town of Idyllwild. This store is amazing! I'm a tea lover and the selection is huge. All sorts of traditional and modern tea varieties as well as therapeutic teas for things like relaxation, inflammation and stress-relief. I purchased the Scottish and the African Breakfast tea and am enjoying both. You can purchase by the ounce, so it's easy to try many of them without committing to a large bag. There are so many fun and interesting knick-knacks in this store, too. Huge thanks to the owner Ron, who gave us great customer service and shared his knowledge of the different teas, with us. This place is the best! Friendly service, great product, bathroom available, loved it. There are around 100 teas and you can get a tea to go of any flavor. We bought about 3 bags of tea and a statue. I love this store. Definitely a must visit for any trip to Idyllwild. There are sample teas you can open and smell. So fun! read more

This little store is great for tea enthusiasts. They have an extensive selection tea and herbs. I bought a couple (see pictures). I have yet to try them since its been too hot for tea. Happened to stumble upon this store while on vacation. I was simply amazed just how many different varieties of tea they had! Walls upon walls of tea that you were able to smell. Bought about 10 different kinds and so far, they all have been wonderful! They also do online ordering which is something I will be doing in the future. read more

My ride was patiently waiting with the motor still running when we rushed in. I had the ingredients of the tea that I was there for all mixed up and the Gentleman (who could have been the owner) helped me to relax with his gentle demeanor so that we were able to narrow it down to one. My trip wasn't complete without some local wildflower honey to compliment my Black Merlot. It's so tasty that I even mix it with my trail mix to add another berry delicious dimension to it!! In case I'm not able to make it out there, it is comforting to know that I can order some online. read more

Excellent service and knowledgeable service by the owners. I bought some tea for my Fibromyalgia Pain, being a bit skeptical but I took it back to the cabin in Idyllwild and felt so much better. The next day and bought some to breathe better because I had been having asthma and using my inhaler and it worked like a charm. I could breathe clearly and sleep well. The range of teas is huge and they will mix something special for you. Then I noticed they had amazing spices. Plan on spending lots of time, enjoying yourself and feeling better! Support this store after the fires. The town is still green and pretty and can use the support also. read more

Went up to Idlyllwild with our friends last Sunday 4-30-17 and stopped in at Merkaba's. Oh wow what a neat store. I bought about 5 bags of tea and asked if they ship, which they do (online store). So glad about that. The owners were great - helpful. Such a nifty store with lots of teas and herbal goodies. I want to go back to explore the store more. You will NOT be disappointed I can guarantee that. I bought Moroccan Mystery, Lemon Twister, Summer Splash and Cream Brulee. Have tasted all of them and they are yummy. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Ariel H.

Ariel has been in love with tea for as long as she can remember. She purchased Merkaba Tea from its original owners on December 1, 2022, and has been having the time of her life running the store ever since. She is knowledgeable about loose-leaf teas, the metaphysical world, herbalism, and how these things intermix. She hopes her customers feel happy and welcome to spend some time in the store and ask any questions they may have!

I picked up a trucker's cap (which I wear quite frequently as I lost my original one from the Grand Canyon) along with some postcards. The shopkeeper was open past her usual hours, but she told me she stayed open as it was a holiday weekend and she was getting a lot more customers because of it. Got to know her a bit. She originally used to live in San Diego, but moved out here as she wanted to try her hand at managing her own gift shop - which I thought was pretty awesome. I called and spoke with a representative who proceeded to tell me my bank charges an additional 3% fee for using my card. The reality: THEIR bank (merchant processor) charges THEM an additional 3% fee, not the consumer. I have a receipt verifying the lesser charge. When I attempted to work this out, the store employee hung up on me. Terrible customer service. Dishonest management. Shop elsewhere. There are plenty of other gift shops nearby.

I love allowing my grand kids to do art work on my feet and I do their hands. Such a great bonding experience with them while creating an artistic masterpiece. If you are looking for rocks, crystals, and those type of things than this is the store for you. They have really cool clothing here as well. Great little shop in Idyllwild. They have all the regular smoke shop stuff, but also local honey, olive oil, beef jerky, and a gift shop. The gentleman who was working was professional and friendly. It's hidden between a purple shop and the food place. It's a like a walkway and just walk all the way to the back, you'll find their shop. Great pricing for their products as well. Rami also gave us a few free stickers for visiting. If I'm ever back in town, definitely coming back!
