Amazing shop and AMAZING smells. You can't even walk by without stopping in your tracks and saying yep I'm going in there. I love candles. Love love love em. Literally smelled every scent they had and settled with the Sandalwood Vanilla. My apartment has smelled phenomenal since getting home with it! I should have stocked up! You. Will. Love. Sasha's. Stuff. Really, that's what it comes down to. Sasha is the owner and makes most of the items in the shop. Her goat milk lotions are lovely - and super nice for the cold, dry weather in Idyllwild during the winter. Her candles are absolutely wonderful. They burn clean and are scented with essential oils so don't smell fake at all. And she's just so nice to talk to and get advice from. Perfect place to buy gifts and a little something for yourself. :-) (Also...be sure to got down the walkway from Sasha to the toy store. Super fun and lots of great root beer options!) read more

This is a truly darling little shop. The customer service is really great. We love the candles so much - always getting a couple when we're in town, and even ordering more from home when we haven't been to the mountains in a little while. My favorite is Antahalla Vanilla - it's a warm vanilla smell that will make your home so cozy. Definitely recommend checking out this shop! read more

I visited here recently on a brief getaway from OC, purchased 3 candles and I love them! Sasha really knows candles and is obviously passionate about her business. Just ok. The woman who works there got a bit snippy when we asked about the very limited candle selection this time. Her response was "well, I've been very busy & haven't had time to make more". Ok then. We have been buying candles here for at least 4 years. Kind of disappointed. We were told to go online to buy them if we wanted to. Excellent little shop. It's located upstairs in the center and since Grandpas Jerky closed they carry their jerky (the sign on the old Grandpas Jerky space directed us there). The man was really nice. He carries a lot of Alaska items too and since I lived there I had fun talking with him about it. You'll find a little of everything there from elegant artwork to magnets. Very disappointed let's just say a very unwelcoming feeling as the owner was snippy and her whispering to her husband very rude. A few years ago it was a bigger store obviously they've had to downsize as many businesses have. Well if that's the way they treat people? I wouldn't be surprised if it closes. Regardless we went to Wooleys and spent quite a lot there but the owner very nice and welcoming. read more

Great gift shop and, like so many of the stores in Idyllwild, is dog friendly. The owners have a very sweet lab. Very nice owners too. The pottery is so beautiful here and the candles to die for. They make excellent Xmas presents! read more

No reviews of the Spruce Moose yet? I'm shocked. Every time I'm in Idyllwild, I'm sure to stop and make my little pilgrimage to this, the archetypical cute mountain gift shop. They sell a variety of art, knick-knacks, kitsch, and candles, much of it locally produced, and all of it Idyllwild- or mountain-themed. I love the little fake pond in the back corner, covered with an ominous layer of dry ice-generated fog. Also check out the stuffed dog next to the pond, which strangely is almost an exact rendering of their real dog, who's often in the store. This place may not be for everyone -- it's almost agonizingly precious -- but if you're in the mood for faux-rustic mountain kitsch (and why else would you go to Idyllwild?), then definitely check this place out. read more
