New cheese and meat plate - made for first time night before
    Mindy H.

Meridian Hive is expanding and growing up! It's great to see quality local businesses thrive. The experience at Meridian Hive has changed. There is now a wide selection of meads to taste, and you have to pay for a tasting. There are different tasting flights you can select from on the menu, or you can try it all for $15. The place is no longer quiet and sleepy, it is busy and buzzing. They need to re-organize themselves to be able to better handle the traffic. They need a separate line for those just coming in to fill growlers, and those enjoying a tasting experience and interested in learning about the different meads and the process. The two staff members were friendly, but were rushed to serve others. The mead is still as delicious as always, and they are planning to even start canning some of it! They are also re-branding and their growlers now have their new modern logo. I just hope they keep the awesome art on their bottles. I love the genius artistic bottle labels. For the first time they also had a meat and cheese plate that you could order. Something new they were trying out. It was tasty! They should definitely keep it. They also now have a loyalty program that earns you discounts. Also, be sure to check out the board as they have reoccurring monthly events like Friday board game night!!

Meridian Hive Meadery is pretty cool! I hadn't tried mead until this year when I tried some of Meridian Hive's stuff at the Mueller Farmer's Market. We bought a growler from them and we were always determined to fill it back up, but we always seemed to go to the farmer's market when they weren't there. Darn. No more worrying about that, though, because now they have a building for all your mead needs! I always seem to gravitate toward the Rhapsody, because it has blackberries in it, and I love anything and everything blackberry. Meridian Hive will let you try anything for free, which is great. Some day, I'm going to branch out and try all of their stuff instead of just getting the Rhapsody. They also have several different kinds of honey for you to sample, which was really cool. You can purchase various things here, like growlers, glasses, and metal signs, if you're into those sorts of things. They sell their mead by the growler or by the bottle, depending on what you order and have much you want. There isn't a ton of seating, as they seem to be a newer operation, but I didn't find that to be a problem. They also have some board games out for anyone to play, which I thought was a nice touch. Unfortunately, they don't have any food here yet. I don't know if they allow you to bring food in, but it wouldn't hurt to ask if that's something you are dying to know. The ladies who were working the day I visited were very sweet and super willing to answer any and all questions. Funny story: this place is basically right down the street from my old office. I bet a mead buzz would have made work more enjoyable, but now I never have to find out. No complaints here!

Not only a delicious and unique twist on mead (awesome traditional mead as well!) but top notch service too! They have great events like movie showings, game nights, etc. I highly suggest you come check it out - they even provide a free education on all the ins-and-outs of mead.

Loved the sweet meads. The grand opening was great and it was wonderful hanging pie with friends. Got to see people I have not seen in a long time. Reasonable prices and friendly service!

New logos and glassware are amazing!

Great experience and amazing staff. Shared a full flight tasting with the boyfriend, and was walked through all the flavors and styles patiently. We even came in towards the end of the day, and didn't feel rushed or anything. Fun place to visit and easy to get to.

Rhapsody is my choice for today!!

The first time was a wine flight we had catered at our apartment, while the second time, we visited in person with a group of friends. Honestly, the wines we buy from Costco taste better. We did the $20 wine tasting flight where you get to choose 3 from the menu. The pros are that it's cheap and they give generous pours, but the con is that the wines don't taste good. Thank goodness I shared with my husband because I wouldn't have been able to finish it myself. 1. Picpoul Blanc: One Elm Vineyards - High Plains white wine with notes of lemongrass, pink lemonade, and raspberry. It was okay. 2. Aqua Pazza - High Plains/High Country orange wine with notes of apricot, candied lemon, and orange zest. It tasted like a bitter citrus wine and was our least favorite of the wines we tried. 3. GSM: Salt Lick Vineyards - Hill Country chilled red wine with notes of mint berry crunch and herbal. I think we prefer non-chilled red wine, since the tannins were super muted, but the cold temperature does make it more enjoyable on a hot day. Lavender Haze ($15): This is a wine cocktail made with Ocho, lemon, lavender simple syrup, topped with Rambler, and garnished with a lemon wheel. Ocho is a Salt Lick Vineyards - Hill Country white wine with soft lychee, beeswax, and freshly minted bills. It's a light and bright wine cocktail that's great for an afternoon drink. Bread With Oil & Balsamic Reduction ($6): You definitely need to dip the bread in the balsamic reduction; otherwise, the bread is just so bland by itself. Recommend getting the shareables instead, since the bread doesn't really add anything to the wine tasting. Our friends got the charcuterie, and the meat, cheese, and fig really helped us get through the wine flight.

Service - we have been here about 4-5 times, but service has never been too great or too friendly. The bar on the beer side is always pleasant but the tasting bar side always has a bit of a tiny rude vibe - and I don't mention it ever but I'm in the wine industry and we don't see this normally. Also tonight we were asked to move to a different table as they didn't prepare for a Harry Potter event ahead of time just as we settled in after a rough day (and our young pup finally chilled out). It felt we were being pushed out and the other table was by the window/door that was glass so I was cold. My senior mom was cold after we had found a great spot that was warm for her. Live music tonight was also quite off - I wouldn't suggest this place anymore. I'm not sure if in the last year it has gone down hill but it's no longer worth the drive for a mediocre experience. They gave many potential beautiful spaces but they don't utilize them, nor update them, so the vibe is just outdated. No music on the speakers can be heard when there isn't live music. So sorry to not write the best review here but it's honest.

Biggest issues were they started later than we thought so one of the people in our group had to leave before it was over, there was an epic food truck incident (this was supposed to be a Brunch event) with food running an hour late did not really have brunchy items, and they didn't clearly label on their menu that the cocktails were wine based vs. the traditional alcohol of tequila, gin, etc. The cocktails were fine but if I'd known/recalled/seen a disclaimer I would have been a bit more wary as I have reactions to certain wines and sugars.
