A Coffee Shop with only one stainless steel milk frothing pitcher??? Wow, I think that would have to be unheard of, until now of course. I'm a bit disappointed - all because I requested soy milk. He had no other pitcher to froth the milk; so after looking around, he grabbed a plastic measuring cup. I am not fond of heating plastic...I don't think it's meant to be heated to such temperatures. It's okay if you don't have enough of the standard equipment, the least they could do is go buy a glass measuring cup if that's going to be their back up... Alright, on to the drink itself. The milk wasn't properly frothed, blah. A tough bit to swallow after my amazing latte yesterday, as odd as it sounds, from Nordstrom's eBar. Half of winning over an espresso drinker's heart is good MICRO FOAM, yet so many places fail miserably but I guess why try hard when there is no good competition out there. Apparently when it comes to lattes, I'm a tough gal to please - at least in FL. After trying so many places, most of them including here leave a lot to be desired. read more

It may be the only place that sold real coffee. The place inside looks like a holding cell for EX- bingo winners that have long ago lost their chips or grannie's trailer. Joel let me try the brews of the day! He can basically make any drink you want! My son went with an iced cold brew coffee with soy milk and I went with the Bali Blue brew of the day with vanilla! We also ordered their cinnamon roll, zucchini and banana bread...all a great companion with the coffee! They have been there for 8 years and I never knew! Great selection of origin coffee's which have been roasted in house. The Coffee is available to take home in 1 pound bags, the atmosphere is encouraging for conversation and the loose leaf tea selection was outstanding. I would say the biggest selling point is the fresh roasted coffee from some of the greatest country origins. My request to Mercers would be to have all the origin coffees available for French press so It can enjoyed right there rather than what has been pre-brewed in the pot, have the bags of coffee in smaller batches (10-12oz) and perhaps have the staff a little more trained on the coffees (they were new so I understood but I was hoping they knew a little more about the coffees) Overall, having a local coffee roaster in Port Charlotte is really a jewel to be discovered! read more

Wow! I thought I knew good coffee until I discovered this place. I come to my Port Charlotte office more often just so I can swing by Mercers. The coffee is so fresh. They sell the beans to take home too as Folgers has now been ruined for all of us that have walked through these doors. Inside it's very welcoming and warm. There's big comfy leather couches and everyone is so friendly. Get to know the staff and the regulars. They're very kind and interesting people and will sit and keep you company if you're into that.
