The people that took over since I've been here last have no idea what real espresso is. It was a disappointment 2 days in a row. $10 for a terrible quad Americano. That's the easiest coffee to make besides an actual shot of espresso. I go there every few years. Will give them another try. Last time was awful. read more

This is a fantastic little place. The food is good the drinks are excellent and the people are wonderful. Everyone is so happy and inviting and even the owner is working to help make your experience enjoyable. They have such a great atmosphere with great comfortable furniture. Omg the shop is so cute. Very homie. You really want to stay and sit awhile. I got a hot coffee with hazelnut and toffee and it was amazing not a usual flavor you could get say at Starbucks. The best thing about it is that my drink was balanced it wasn't overwhelmed by the flavoring and I could still taste the coffee!!! A Coffee Shop with only one stainless steel milk frothing pitcher??? Wow, I think that would have to be unheard of, until now of course. I'm a bit disappointed - all because I requested soy milk. He had no other pitcher to froth the milk; so after looking around, he grabbed a plastic measuring cup. I am not fond of heating plastic...I don't think it's meant to be heated to such temperatures. It's okay if you don't have enough of the standard equipment, the least they could do is go buy a glass measuring cup if that's going to be their back up... Alright, on to the drink itself. The milk wasn't properly frothed, blah. A tough bit to swallow after my amazing latte yesterday, as odd as it sounds, from Nordstrom's eBar. Half of winning over an espresso drinker's heart is good MICRO FOAM, yet so many places fail miserably but I guess why try hard when there is no good competition out there. Apparently when it comes to lattes, I'm a tough gal to please - at least in FL. After trying so many places, most of them including here leave a lot to be desired. read more

Excellent fresh coffee! Wayne, the owner, is very particular about his coffee. Everything is shipped to them green and roasted in house. I highly recommend getting the french press coffee and asking them to suggest what's good. They've made lots of changes to make this place even more cozy. Kudos to Mercer's! read more

It may be the only place that sold real coffee. The place inside looks like a holding cell for EX- bingo winners that have long ago lost their chips or grannie's trailer. The men who make the coffee reminded me of those who went into a witness protection program. But the coffee was pretty good and I grabbed it to go and ran back to my hotel. read more

My mom has lived in Port CHARLOTTE for over 20 years. I recently discovered Mercer's driving back from Punta Gorda and knew we had to stop! Super duper cute coffee house with a great vibe! Joel let me try the brews of the day! He can basically make any drink you want! My son went with an iced cold brew coffee with soy milk and I went with the Bali Blue brew of the day with vanilla! We also ordered their cinnamon roll, zucchini and banana bread...all a great companion with the coffee! They have been there for 8 years and I never knew! This will definitely be at stop every time I visit! All my local family didn't know either! Looking forward to grabbing some beans for the journey home! read more

Great selection of origin coffee's which have been roasted in house. The Coffee is available to take home in 1 pound bags, the atmosphere is encouraging for conversation and the loose leaf tea selection was outstanding. I would say the biggest selling point is the fresh roasted coffee from some of the greatest country origins. My request to Mercers would be to have all the origin coffees available for French press so It can enjoyed right there rather than what has been pre-brewed in the pot, have the bags of coffee in smaller batches (10-12oz) and perhaps have the staff a little more trained on the coffees (they were new so I understood but I was hoping they knew a little more about the coffees) Overall, having a local coffee roaster in Port Charlotte is really a jewel to be discovered! read more

Wow! I thought I knew good coffee until I discovered this place. I come to my Port Charlotte office more often just so I can swing by Mercers. The coffee is so fresh. They sell the beans to take home too as Folgers has now been ruined for all of us that have walked through these doors. Inside it's very welcoming and warm. There's big comfy leather couches and everyone is so friendly. Get to know the staff and the regulars. They're very kind and interesting people and will sit and keep you company if you're into that. It's easy to become a regular here. I've brought many clients here to meet up as it's a great meet and greet location. Try the iced mocha latte!!! read more

They have many pastries that just look divine, and not to mention some of the best macarons I've yet tried. It was such a sweet atmosphere and added on to that with how friendly the barista was. The coffee is delicious, well made and strong with the perfect bit of flavoring. I also tried one of their seasonal refresher drinks which had coconut milk, and either raspberry or strawberry and it was amazing. Really fruit in it and you could just tell it was fresh and had good ingredients in it. Starbucks refresher ain't got nothinggg on this. So dang good. Will definitely be trying to find a reason to visit this area again just so I can come back here.

I ordered an iced mocha that was absolutely delicious - you can really taste the coffee through the chocolate instead of it being overly sweet, which I loved. The coconut macaroon I got on the side was phenomenal and paired perfectly with the drink. They're roasting beans less than 20 feet from where I was sitting, and even before we walked in, you could smell the coffee from the parking lot. It adds so much to the atmosphere knowing everything is that fresh. Service was top notch: super friendly, accurate with the order, and genuinely down to earth and inviting. This place feels like a true local gem, and I will definitely be returning.
