We have lived here for 7 months now, and couldn't ask for a better experience. When looking in the area for homes or apartments to rent we decided to live in the trailer instead for one year while my husband is in his PA school rotations and I'm so glad we made this decision. Big pros: + Close enough to the freeway, central location to Turlock, Merced, Modesto, but without freeway noise (You will hear the train frequently but this is something I grew up around so it's actually comforting to me). +Friendly, helpful staff. +On site propane refill: You can leave your empty tank out and they'll refill it for you. Awesome. +Reasonable cost: Rent includes water, you just pay your own electric (get LED bulbs in your RV!) +Safety: The gate closes at night and you need a code to get in. I've never felt unsafe here! Neighbors have been friendly too. +Dog friendly: Dog park for big and little ones. -Con but not worth removing a star: WiFi is crappy. We get by with our hot spot and Starbucks one exit away if we really need to get something done without it kicking us off. Our spot is right on the river and I love waking up and seeing the fog roll over the river. We plan on staying a full year and I know I will have many good memories of this place!

Cute, quiet, nice little RV park. Room for your pets to roam. Merced River runs along the south edge. Great place to chill for a few.

RV park would be fine for a one night stay. But it's super dusty due to dirt roads, dirt RV sites. You can definitely tell that it's an old RV park with uneven sites. It looks as though that at some point, the road was paved but the asphalt has long been worn and is now just dirt and dust. The sites are pretty close together and the hook up for sewer/water encroaches on your neighbors picnic table. The electric hook up is overridden with spiderwebs and dust. Only positive is that the bathrooms and laundry rooms are nice and clean. Almost hurts to not write a glowing review since the ladies who run the office are super nice.

Came here with a big group (40-45 people) for Group Campsite A this past weekend (Friday check in…read morethrough Sunday check out). Plenty of picnic tables and plenty of space for our tents in the shade. Plenty of parking as well. We also reserved Group Campsite B because we thought we needed more space, but we didn't end up needing it. However, Group Campsite B has its own parking spots (can fit 6 cars comfortably I believe) which was good use for us for our friends who came on Saturday when it was packed with two different baptisms and other day use overflow. Group Campsite A didn't have its own parking and could only park at the overnight/overflow lot, which was fine for those of us that came on Friday when it was empty. Group Campsite A is more secluded/private and has outlets as well. Group Campsite B didn't have much shade and was next to the other campsites. The bathrooms nearest the group campsites got pretty gross by the end of the day with all the day use people using it as well, but they were cleaned every morning. There was another bathroom at the other end of the park near the rest of the campsites, but didn't feel the need to go to them. Park Rangers also made a point to come by and get trash every morning as well and collected them from us at the river! There was a big dumpster near Campsite A that we could walk to as well. The river was close by. Campsite A had a lot of shade and we didn't even need our EZ-Ups. We brought them down to the river instead. There were coin showers (25 cents per minute and minimum of 2 minutes required each time). It was really hot Friday evening through Saturday morning and a TON of bugs, but Saturday there was a nice breeze and no more bugs. Saturday night got really cold into Sunday morning. Will definitely be coming back here in the future for more big group camping!

We were very disappointed with our stay at McConnell State Recreation Area campground. When we…read morechecked in, our campsite was filthy, with trash scattered throughout the site and the fire pit completely full of garbage. After I called, someone came by and did a light cleanup, which I appreciated, but the site should have been clean before our arrival. The biggest issue was the flies and gnats. From morning until sunset, we were constantly swarmed. It made it nearly impossible to relax or enjoy being outside. The overflowing trash cans throughout the campground certainly didn't help and likely contributed to the problem. The bathrooms were also in poor condition. The showers (which require quarters, so come prepared) had dirt, hair, and grime, and the restrooms were dirty with spiders, toilet paper all over the floors, and generally felt neglected. Our kids did enjoy playing in the river, but it had a noticeable sewer-like odor. At night, there was also a very loud machine-like noise that made it difficult to enjoy the peaceful camping experience we expected. Overall, this was not an enjoyable trip, and unfortunately we won't be returning.

The water was great and there was a great breeze. We stopped at the marina store to get ice and then took a ride over to the other side of the lake to the Cafe. The food was great and decent priced. The staff was a bit over whelmed. The cashier at the back register seemed irritated with the kids looking at stuff near the counter and shut her register down. The crowd waiting for their food before us didnt get the right order, they had to remake their food and they told the girls prepping the food that the girl that took their order wasnt paying attention and wrote the order down wrong. Overall the food was good, the deck hands were friendly and we enjoyed the time on the lake.

It is just off Hwy 41, above the local fire station. The area is large. The tents are on the lower level and the cabins are on the higher level, on the top of the hill. Our superior (and more expensive) cabin had nice views over the surrounding hills and the 'wild' horses on a neighboring ranch. The cabin was really small - think 'Tiny Home'. A small sitting area, kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom. The tents use common bathrooms. We had a small out door area to sit. You can rent a gas tank for the outdoor fire pit. Free coffee at the office. It is pet friendly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though the cabin is nice with AC and running hot water, the surroundings are rough and our little dog injured his foot on 'foxtail' grass. I did email about some issues from our recent stay and never heard anything back which was a bit disappointing as we genuinely enjoyed their first location and wanted to enjoy this one as well. Our first visit was right after they had opened so the outside of the cabin areas were not fully complete but we enjoyed the stay and wanted to come back to see the final project complete. This second time a year apart there was still construction and things being built so I do find it hard to justify the prices for the cabins if all the amenities are not available or closed.

There are noisy/drunk/obnoxious groups of people who do not respect the quiet times and curfews. I understand music on (not blasting), until 12/1am sure. Not until 4-5am. Yelling, not caring who is around or near. We were told there is no monitoring or assistance pretty much over night at that camp ground. What happens in case of an emergency? You have crazy crowds or rude selfish people, and nobody to check, regulate or control any of it. This place no longer feels safe if you are going with kids and family. Most of the campsites had WAY more than 6 people per site, which is another campground rule that definitely wasn't enforced. This is not relaxing camping. It's just non-stop loud music and partying. I would NEVER recommend this campground to people I actually like, and will never be returning.

I looked over probably 50+ campsites for our trip this weekend and they were all completely booked…read more I found this site as available and had not heard of it before and the reviews were not too great. We live in Monterey and typically go to Big Sur but thought I'd go ahead and book here since it was really all that was available. I was NOT disappointed! We not only had our campground basically to ourselves (only 2 other people in the area) on Thursday 7/22/21, but we had unlimited access to the reservoir, forebay, and dinosaur point for fishing and more all in the area within 20 minutes, with our reservations. Thursday evening, the camp rangers were more than happy to tell us where he saw some people landing fish! Something he really didn't have to do. They're so friendly! Friday morning, we witnessed a small bird (the bird books state it was some type of dove ) run into our neighbors car window. He seemed stunned or injured and my husband flagged down another park ranger so the site's children didn't have to see the injured critter. He actually got out of his patrol truck and looked for the bird but he thankfully had flown off unharmed. It definitely showed they genuinely care about the property AND the critters in it Friday night, it did get pretty packed in there but everyone was really nice and quiet times were observed by everyone! Something I fully respect with a crazy 3 year old! I was bummed we didn't have electric hook up but that's something I can live without in the camping world! The bathrooms all have power outlets if you need anything! We couldn't use our fans with the intense heat but we survived driving back and forth to the water with the AC ) And we got by with car adapters for our air mattress, which is all we really needed. Our gps tried to take us on the highway to a gas station 10 minutes away, but if you turn onto Gonzaga road right outside the park entrance, it will run you smack into a gas station 5 minutes down the road with ice, bait, and even electronic DVD players and more! For almost not booking this site due to reviews, I'm so glad I did it anyways! We had the best time! We only left 1 day early because my 3 year old was having a rough time in the heat. But we definitely are coming back later this year with some cooler weather My husband said this is his new favorite campground and we are already looking for our next booking dates in September!
