We have lived here for 7 months now, and couldn't ask for a better experience. When looking in the area for homes or apartments to rent we decided to live in the trailer instead for one year while my husband is in his PA school rotations and I'm so glad we made this decision. Big pros: + Close enough to the freeway, central location to Turlock, Merced, Modesto, but without freeway noise (You will hear the train frequently but this is something I grew up around so it's actually comforting to me). +Friendly, helpful staff. +On site propane refill: You can leave your empty tank out and they'll refill it for you. Awesome. +Reasonable cost: Rent includes water, you just pay your own electric (get LED bulbs in your RV!) +Safety: The gate closes at night and you need a code to get in. I've never felt unsafe here! Neighbors have been friendly too. +Dog friendly: Dog park for big and little ones. -Con but not worth removing a star: WiFi is crappy. We get by with our hot spot and Starbucks one exit away if we really need to get something done without it kicking us off. Our spot is right on the river and I love waking up and seeing the fog roll over the river. We plan on staying a full year and I know I will have many good memories of this place!

Tree branches falling on on my trailer!

And the service was top notch. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner every night, but since we had our dog with us they sat us outside and made sure we felt comfortable. That's probably my only knock, is that if you're marketing it as dog friendly, there should be some better restaurant options for dogs. But honestly they were very accommodating. We thought we were going to be bummed to be so far out of the valley floor, but it turned out to be the perfect escape from the crowds. We will definitely be coming back.

You genuinely don't need to leave to have a full vacation. There's miniature golf, a rock-climbing wall, beautiful hiking trails, yard games, and plenty of quiet spots to just relax and take in the scenery. The heated, 24/7 pool is a huge bonus, especially after a long hike or a day exploring Yosemite. The food is surprisingly good for a resort-style property, and you can tell they put real effort into it rather than treating it as an afterthought. But what really sets Firefall Ranch apart is the staff. They're warm, attentive, and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. And if you're traveling with a dog--this is the place. They don't just tolerate pets; they welcome them. Our pup was treated with more kindness here than at most places that claim to be "dog friendly." It makes the whole experience feel that much more relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, Firefall Ranch feels like a little pocket of luxury and adventure tucked right outside Yosemite. Worth every penny and absolutely somewhere we'd return to.

I…read morealways said I'd never take them to Great Wolf Lodge, but my April baby always wants a "pool" party--and it's usually cold or rainy--so I gave in. Prices were actually reasonable, so we booked Sunday-Tuesday. Check-in lines were long, but the self-serve kiosk was quick and easy. We got wristbands for the room and water park and headed straight to the pool. It was packed Sunday around 5 p.m., which was expected, so we stayed a couple hours and went back to the room. Food inside the hotel was either closed or overpriced, but the location is great--about 0.5 miles from Panda Express, Chili's, Costco, La Estrella (amazing Mexican food), and more. We ate at Chili's. Parking is $20/day. You can use the water park from check-in day through checkout, which is awesome. My 11-year-old loved the Howlers Peak Ropes Course. My 7-year-old and I tried it, but he got scared at the top--staff helped him down right away. I don't blame him, it's high! I only did the first level, but my 11-year-old did the second level three times. My 7-year-old also loved the arcade. Most attractions cost extra, but there are decent deals. The only ones I wouldn't do again are mini golf and bowling--they're very small and just okay. We had the unlimited family pass, so we used them anyway. Best part: the slides! I'm 32 and my husband is 34, and we had just as much fun as the kids. Big or small, all the slides were a blast. Honestly, one of our favorite family vacations. The room (Grizzly Suite) was clean and spacious for 3 adults and 2 kids. Beds weren't super comfortable, but that's typical. Cleanliness mattered most. Checkout was easy via text, but double-check your bill--they tried to charge us $60 for "missing" towels we returned. A quick call got it refunded, but I can see how others might miss that. Overall, we'll likely be back within the next year.

Easter weekend coming earlier this year I'm sure didn't help. We made the most of it. We booked a standard family suite for 3 nights. We added their breakfast club buffet for our time here and an unlimited eat and play package. The indoor Waterpark is included with your stay here. Our beds were comfortable, but the restrooms could use a vent and a deep clean about the shower itself. (See picture). I was emailed an offer to extend, bummed that when we tried calling the front desk. No one picked up and then we waited over 20 minutes to have an older lady working front desk that there was nothing left, so she's not sure why I got an email to extend. Room rates are cheaper when you book in advance or plan for longer stays, but overall we still spent a lot here. We should have just gone to Disneyland this time around. I like that it's convenient and they offer dining and booze on property, but like anywhere there's convenience; you pay the cost for that. We did everything we could possibly do with our kids here and they still spent most of their time at the arcade. The prizes and the ability to win more tickets were amazing. We were bummed our son wasn't more excited for the MagiQuest and the other activities offered on property. It was crowded everywhere we went here no matter what time of day it was. I recommend downloading their app to reserve tables, preorder food and drinks. We dined at their buffet for our breakfast club deal and they offered a little more than a continental breakfast with their omlet station. I made it a point to load up on protein and fiber. There weren't any employees that stuck out to me besides the gift shop ladies. They were actually friendly besides the guy that ran the buffet in the morning. Thank you. We enjoyed our trip here besides the crazy crowds. Our next trip we'll plan for an off season.

They have two sets of soaking tubs one set is where you have to have clothing on and the other one is ware clothing is optional. The one with the clothing required was full, so I decided to track over to the clothing optional part. For those I'd like to go in the nude the area is fenced off, so nobody can see inside, but I decided to go in in my swimsuit. It was a great relaxing time where I took time to read a book that I haven't been able to enjoy for a while. Since I had packed a lunch, I went to over one of the picnic tables that they had and enjoy my lunch. After lunch, I headed over to the regular pool again. It was a great temperature and soaked for a little bit, took in the sun and then headed on back home. This is a fantastic place if somebody wants to do a day trip. The additional space would have been nice for two adults and their furry friend. It was still a great room with an awesome view of the dunes and water. Check in was terrific. The lobby is beautiful and stocked for a quick whatever you might want. There is a backyard behind the lobby that is sheltered from those pesky ocean breezes with firepit, tables, chairs and other stuff. Nice touch. Our room was spotless. The bathroom was very nice. Clean and let me say that the shower was fantastic. There is a heater/fan in the bathroom that made getting out of the shower, pleasantly warm. Toiletries are of nice quality. Our dog, Sian found the stick library very useful and she had a blast going after it on the beach and in the ocean. She even brought it back to the library the morning we left, for others to use during their stay. The pet welcome is a nice touch. This site is very pet friendly. Not so much for the timeshares that are on the same property. And that's fine. Parking is not allowed at the units. You are driven to your unit by one of the great golf cart drivers. Zach was our driver. Loaded all our luggage on to the the cart. As we journeyed to our cottage, Zach pointed out sites as well as amenities. Unloaded our luggage as wll as went and got us ice as we settled in. If you need help getting to your car, onsite restaurant or the lobby, just call the lobby about 10 minutes before you want to go and someone will be there. The restaurant is great. We ate there twice and had breakfast delivered to our unit twice. The bread platter... OMG... the bread platter. We loved it so much that we went to Otto's bakery in Salinas on our way out of town to bring it home with us. The restaurant is not open for breakfast but, at check in, you will get a room service menu that that's how you can have breakfast onsite. More on the restaurant in that review... We paid around $1,000 for one night, so I arrived excited and expecting something special. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. Many of the pet-friendly touches that influenced me to book were missing at check-in. There was no personalized dog welcome setup, no dog package, and my dog's name was not on the welcome sign until I called later. I had also requested a simple welcome card for my mother-in-law's first trip to California, and although staff said they would gladly do it, it was never done. We also had multiple room issues throughout the stay. The TV was not working, the phone buttons to reach the front desk did not work, there was no extra pillow for the fold-out bed, and there was even a leftover dog chew from a previous guest found in the bed. To be fair, the maintenance employee was kind and helpful, and the complimentary bottle of wine was appreciated. However, for this price point, the lack of attention to detail and overall service was really disappointing. What upset me most was checkout. I politely explained that I was disappointed and thought at minimum the pet fee might be removed, but there was no effort to make things right beyond emailing the receipt. Beautiful location, but the experience did not match the cost or reputation. I truly wanted to love this stay and left sad and let down instead.

A special thank you to Alonso--he checked on me daily to make sure everything was perfect. I've been traveling for work for 6 years, staying in top-tier Hilton properties, and no one has ever given me the level of care and attention Alonso did. He truly made my stay exceptional. The only disappointment was related to the Hilton points. Since I was there on company time, I was told the company representative requested that no one accrue points. I've traveled with multiple companies and have never been denied Hilton points before, so that was unexpected. Because I couldn't use my Diamond number, I also couldn't use the Digital Key or check out through the app. I had to check out over the phone--but again, the staff handled it smoothly. The perfect "home base" for staging an attack upon Murphys downtown shopping, dining and wine tasting establishments, or as a leap-off point for local hikes and the gorgeous Moaning and Mercer Caverns. Each cottage is appointed with a gas-fueled faux wood-stove fireplace (easy operation via thermostat), fridge, micro, coffee maker, basic silverware/plates/cups, wonderful showers (great for power-washing off the mud and sweat after a day of rappelling and spelunking!) and extremely comfortable queen beds. Each cottage has its own character, giving the feel of the kind of decor a favorite aunt might select for your family's personal mountain cabin. Extremely clean and comfortable! Hang out by the fire, or chill out on your own front porch overlooking the lawn and creek. Or... ...head over to The Barn, a communal recreation room appointed with an air-hockey table, pool table, kitchen area (including a wine fridge!) and big-screen satellite TV/sat radio. The Barn was recently remodeled, using reclaimed barnwood, corrugated metal (for the ceiling sub-roof) and a pretty brilliant wallcovering that looks like warm old plaster, but is actually recycled craft paper and some sort of natural varnish. Cool! Also, a few relics from the region's mining days. There are board games, darts, books and other stuff to keep the individual, family or small group entertained. There's a large swimming pool (unheated in winter) and a small wading pool adjacent to another community kitchen and outdoor picnic area, and the only thing this area lacks is a hot tub. (Hint, hint!) Finally, there's Cosmo, the biggest, sweetest cat you'll ever want to kidnap. He's not allowed in the cabins, but he'll happily keep you company as you read a book on the porch, or wander up to the beautiful waterfalls behind the barn.
