What a beautiful RV Park. We only stayed for one night, but we had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful with a view of the River and swimming area. The RV Park is very spacious as are the RV Spots! We had so much room around us, it was amazing! The RV Park is so peaceful, it really was nice to sit outside at our table and relax. The grounds are kept nicely with lots of beautiful shade trees. If we are ever in need of an RV stay in that area again, we will choose Thousand Trails Turtle Beach! Camped overnight. Ended up camping next to a large loud group which is never pleasant. They were up and making noise til way past midnight. Got up early to find that the bathrooms had not yet opened up. They were supposed to open by 6:30 and maybe by 7:30 they got around to it. Folks were friendly and sites were spacious which was nice. It took corporate about three weeks to review my request for a refund. They denied my request. I then filed a formal complaint with their administrative level to request that the website description of the campground accurately represent the current conditions (tall weed growth covering the area that had been the sandy beach area). I recently spoke to a onsite ranger regarding the campground. She informed me that there is a sandy area (that is not visible from the campground roadway) west of the campground. This area was filled in with sand as a result of the flooding that caused the campground to close for the last two years. She advised that this filled in area has now made it possible to walk out to an island, that was once separated by a branch of the river. I have yet to verify this information. I hope this information is useful for prospective campers. read more

It's not the ABSOLUTE WORST but it's not the best either. It could have been mediocre but like everyone says on here the staff is pretty rough to put it mildly. Once you talk them off the ledge they are more accommodating but in general you definitely feel policed the ENTIRE time you are there. The biggest downfall is the lack of full hookups at every site. We had to disconnect every other day and conserve a lot to dump. However there is NO FEE TO DUMP ONSITE (another earlier review states there's a fee). Most sites don't have sewage hookups but they do have water and electricity. There is no cable but not an issue because why are we watching tv instead of visiting with each other while camping? We did not use WiFi-T-MOBILE has decent service so most data needed was capable form hot spots and phones. The private boat launch and separate area in the park to park your boat:trailer is a nice amenity but beware...LOTS of blue algae and blooms on the bottom and visible in the launch area especially. The first day we got algae wrapped around the prop so badly we had to remove the scoop grate to untangle it. Once on the river be careful of sand bars and shallow areas. There is also a visible homeless encampment under the train trussle that well...you just don't know what's being dumped into the water. read more

On our 4th visit here, think about that for a second. Why would someone stay some where over and over again? Let me tell you. Great location, Friendly Staff, and a Well Managed RV Park. Check in is easy. Pull up to the gate, stay in the right lane, and push the call button. A ranger will answer and drive over shortly to check you in and guide you to your site. Some things to know, this is a Thousand Trails park, You will be required to show ID, Proof of Insurance and Current registration. ( its a rule that all TT parks are susposed to follow ) Next Only half the sites are full hookup the other half are Water and Electric. If you are camping here the onsite Dump station is Free. (they do not have a honey wagon). You can ask to be put on a list to move to a full hookup site when one becomes available. Or youu can dry camp but why? Its that simple, Just show up get to your site and relax. And yea, some bad campers that have been problems have written bad reviews because they are just, well, BAD. Don't be bad, come camp here with a great group of great RV'rs. read more

Turtle Beach is a great place! Everyone there is super nice including the permanent residents! All the bathrooms are clean including the portable ones! There is a clean beach like spot that leads to the San Joaquin river, and it's crystal clear! The park it well kept! They have camping and rv spots! With COVID it was super easy to check in and out! We were able to leave things outside even overnight. I would definitely recommend Turtle Beach if you want a peaceful non-city vacation but still hop skip and a jump to anything you will need! read more

One of the best camping grounds ive ever been to ever!!! When we first got there we were greeted by one of the nicest camp ground keepers Carry! She took us around the camp ground and helped us find a nice spot for us to set up camp. We found a good spot right by there river, we set up tents and had a nice little fire pit to put are wood. We forgot our wood unfortunately but carry gave us directions to the nearest grocery/convenient store that six mins away! This place rocks! And I highly recommend for the couples and or kids!!! read more

This was the only campground in 2 months of travel that asked for license, registration, and proof of insurance for our motorhome. They also had a gate with a keypad and a call box to enter. The manager lady tried very hard to be friendly and helpful, but seemed overwhelmed with all the security requirements and rules. The wifi cost $6 so we didn't pay. I don't know how well it works. There was no sewer at the site and it cost to dump at the dump station. The sites were good sized (back in) with very little shade. There were only 3 dumpsters for trash in a pretty large area. The bathrooms were portable toilets and separate portable shower buildings. The drive in from the 5 freeway was long, narrow, curvy, and through a creepy area. My family showed up to celebrate my nephews first birthday on the water since this was first year without his grandma we arrived and a sign said out to lunch until 2:30 pm the worker comes up to my sister in my van and asks for registration which I had because I recently renewed it the lady proceeded to be nasty and referred to us as these people and my nephew whose wife is white referred to her as one of them and called the police saying we were being hostile as we were packing preparing to leave. We have never been to resort and she said we snuck in and if clearly she would have checked she would see that we did register on line. Maybe we shouldn't have went in not knowing we couldn't but as these people fully paid, I could have produced anything you needed and not to mention the conversation was being fully recorded and I will send to whoever to see how racial profiling this was and it's sad that people can't run a business and approach people as jf there was some sort of intent to take advantage when obviously a family with children registered to visit didn't have on any plans going through this mess on a special meaningful birthday read more

For the entire campground, there are only 4 individual use bathroom/shower facilities. 2 are always locked and unusable, the other 2 are locked 8 hours of the day. Non have handicap accessible showers. Bathrooms are not heated, so if it's 40 degrees outside, it's 40 degrees in the bathroom. Skip this property. read more

This was our first time here and will definitely be back. The kids were off to Boy Scout camp and so hubby & I decided to make a long weekend camping trip. We tent camped in the cottonwood tent area and it was great. I was guided there when I checked and it was perfect. Plenty of shade from the 97 degree temperatures. The sites have picnic tables and fire pits. No electricity but water spicket was close by. All the tent sites and rv sites here are large. Plenty of room. They water the grass too so we had a nice lush area to enjoy for our weekend. It was a treat to camp on grass. Bathrooms were clean and even extra port-o-potties are that were very clean. Very relaxing place right on the river. Highly recommend. Oh and Safeway and Walmart 5miles away to get any goodies you forget. Enjoy! read more

We stayed at this comfortable campground for 1 week. Our drive in was a bit challenging in that there are a lot of tight twisty roads as you approach the entrance. The location is a bit isolated. All of the staff members were great. Becky was wonderful over the phone and Carrie personally escorted us to full hookup back-in site #B6 upon arrival. Thank you team for the excellent service! Our site was relatively level and quite spacious. It also had excellent tree shade. Yay! Loud trains can be heard at night so make sure to bring some earplugs. We noticed a Welcome Center but unfortunately did not have time to check it out. The campground bathrooms were these small mobile-home looking structures. We did not use them during our stay. My AT&T phone had 2 bars and the hotspot worked great. My wife's Verizon phone had 3 bars. Our over-the-air TV system was able to program NBC, CBS and Fox along with a few other channels. We tried the optional paid wifi for 1 day and it was surprisingly good. No recycling bins available. read more

WE'RE BAAAAACK! this time we stayed in the D section. Arrived Thursday at 10'ish am and was able to get a Water/Electrical hook up site. Since we're off-season campers, there was a small amount of campers here so that made it WONDERFULLY ideal for us. Becky once again was super helpful and basically a pleasure to communicate with. :) We hooked up in the pouring rain but hey, it went very well. Waited for the rain to subside but hearing the falling rain on our Travel Trailer was kind of romantic so my honey and I stayed in for the most part. Friday, cleared up enough to go fishin! We went to the beach we went to last time (along Riverview Beach area) and fished for about 4 hours. Not one bite. Still had fun! Saturday, yeah it rained in the morning but it was still nice to see people walking their dogs and saying "Good Morning". So we went to the Recreation room at the Main Office Building. Great variety of activities to choose from! An Armoire full of games, a tv/ couch section, a great pool table, and some reading material. We played a few games of pool until the rain subsided. Okay, rain's gone! NOW on to fish again. 5 hours this time at a cute little pathway that lead to a rocky area, but still no bite. So we went back to the beach area. At no time did we feel uncomfortable leaving our trailer or our belongings (bbq and chairs) outside unguarded. Our last day, was kind of a bummer to go back to reality...but again, we'll be back soon. Oh, will not close without mentioning Levi. He's an employee there and he is also super helpful and friendly! To all, Please save your time and money! My wife and I just finished a 1 k for the second Harvest food bank at River lsland. So after the event we took a trip out to check this place out and being close to where we live. The front desk hostess was either needed a cup of Coffee our she was hangry! What ever it was she was so rude. I don't know why on earth anyone would hire her. So long story short we did not tour the park Thousand trails member or not this is not worth the drive in. Maybe they cater to the year round people but this is in a bad location you have to drive through a almost ghetto to get here! I would not feel safe or leaving my stuff out! It has a security gate to get in so that should be the first sign that the place is not safe! Hope you all the best and Happy Camping! read more

I hate doing bad reviews but feel I need to share this with my fellow RVer's what this so-called resort is really like. I would have given this place zero stars if I was able to. FYI.. they did get flooded in 2017 but they need to tell you in advance that the place is run down. Plus there should have been a lower price charged until they get the grounds back to RESORT quality. We paid $47 per night plus some other fee to stay at this place for (3) days. Based on their website this place looked really nice. Cons: 1. No grass, just mowed down weeds everywhere, which were very prickly to walk on with sandals. 2. No cable TV as advertised. 3. No full hookups near the water. 4. No property fences, so the local neighborhood residence are able to trespass. 5. RV site picnic table & benches very old, you can get splinters when you sit on the benches. 6. two pit bulls off leash attached my chihuahua. Pros: Friendly staff. read more

I hate to leave bad reviews but... The only thing wrong with this place is one of their staff members...Janice. She makes you feel like it's a chore to have you there when you're spending a lot of money to stay there in the first place. The first time I went there I didn't "check-in" properly and this lady yelled and pointed her fingers at me. It got to the point where I asked her if I should just go back home. I get that they have to follow regulations, which I don't mind at all, but she was SO RUDE. It's too bad because other than that this place is really nice to spend time with the family. Kids love it here it's a quick camping getaway. They love riding their bikes, fishing, camp fires, and the lodge when they want to go relax.

This is a review just for the staff. I have been to Turtle Beach a countless about of times and the staff seems to become worse and worse! This is not the first time I have had problems. Last time my brother, and family friend and I wanted to play a game of pool and when we asked for the balls we were turned away and refused the equipment because the lady said "Your family is supposed to be checking out today. Check out is at ___ and right now it's ____ you have an hour to be out of here. You need to go back to your camp site and tell your mom that you guys need to be gone in an hour." Maybe it is because of my age (19 years old) that when they see me they automatically think I am up to no good, but I have never had an experience like this one. It started off with my boyfriend coming up to spend the weekend with my family and I and they gave him the hardest time about not being able to use our pass that was being held at check in because it said "For Mom". I understood that he couldn't take it since his name wasn't on it, how would they know if he was actually with our party or trying to just sneak in and use someones pass? But when I went down there to try and explain that he was in fact with us the lady gave me an unbelievable amount of attitude! She continuously told me it was not her problem that he wasn't getting his money back no matter what. I finally realized that she probably did not want to deal with "kids" and I told her I understood she wouldn't do anything for me and that she needed to explain this to my parents. Which she then replied with "You aren't getting his money back or getting this pass whether your parents come or not but that is fine I'll tell them the same thing!" While I was thanking her for her time and telling her that my family was on their way down to talk to her, she must have seen my dads truck as my boyfriend and I were walking away because she sent the other lady who was in the check in booth with her to come get us because she was "getting our money for us!" Which she had just finished telling us NEVER going to happen because she put it in a locked money box that she did not have the key to. Before my family could get out of the truck the lady who had so much attitude came running and laughing and giggling saying how the money was actually still on the counter and the computer some how let her reverse the charge which she said it doesn't let them do. That was the end of that problem. But that was not the only time we felt unwelcome and disrespected. My boyfriend and I made many trips into town as he is not familiar with Manteca and wanted to look around. We had never gone above the 5MPH rule while driving around the park but one time on our way back in a lady (different from the one we had the car pass problem with) stops is on our way in. As we both smile and wave she leans out of the window and asks what name is on the pass (which has never been asked before) I tell her my last name since it was my family's car pass and I tell her where we are staying and in return she mumbles under her breath "ohh" as if it was bad thing or as if trouble was coming or something! It defiantly wasn't a good "ohh" after a second she followed it up with a "the rule is 5MPH. I am going to be watching you. Go 5MPH." Every time we came back into the park after that they would make sure to shout out the speed limit as we drive by as if she had just finished speeding through. Turtle beach is my family's favorite place to spend a weekend and I'd hate to see our trips out there become less frequent because of rude employees. We always have a large group come along with us every time we go camping Turtle Beach has always been our first choice but since the staff has been giving us problems and has made my family felt unwelcome we have been going less frequently. I really hope some day the staff will become friendlier so it can allow people to enjoy their stay. I know when my family asks for some suggestions on where to go I am defiantly not going to be saying Turtle Beach anymore. I have been to many different thousand trails (as we are members and have had our other family members become members as well) there are other campgrounds that are not as nice to stay at but sure do have a lot friendlier staff and do a ton of activities. The employees really do have an impact on how the trip goes. Please, please, PLEASE, teach your staff to have better attitudes!!!! read more

I was there this past weekend and was very disappointed with he upkeep of the grounds. I understand that it was flooded last year but the "grass" is actually weeds and sand which made it difficult to set up our tents. On a good note staff member Levi was awesome. My husband and I have been staying at Turtle Beach because we sold our house and are waiting for my husband to retire. We love rv'ing and being out doors. The annual amount for the year was $4,169.00 plus $100.00 processing fee, up front and you can only be in the park for 179 days. The rest of the time you have to be on vacation. I walked into the office to ask when my renewal date is and Debra, the Mgr, tells me and then says " There's been an increase". I ask her to write it down so I can pay it on time and notice it's $5,469.00, A 23% increase.This was 3 weeks till I was supposed to pay the full amount upfront. No 30 or 60 day written notice was ever given to me. Another lady across from me was in a 3 year contract and was paying $3,300.00 her rent for the space went to the same amount as mine a 31% increase. She takes care of her elderly parents that's why she is living there. Many of the people who are living like this are doing it to help their kids or aging parents. I took very good care of the spot I was in, watering and weeding the area/ walkways around my area as well. People would say how beautiful it was with all the plants. I guess my making it pretty is why people wanted my space. It was nice being there but they don't have anything but the river and an Ice machine. The trees have falling limbs all the time and the park is not responsible for damage. The internet sucks and they're homeless people that live on the river and were constantly using the bathrooms in the park and leaving a mess, sometimes leaving behind needles. There was also 3 occasions when girls came running into the park saying they were attacked by the guy living by the river just outside of the park. The Sheriff was called but said they couldn't do anything because he was living off the grid. The increase and the crappy attitude of Management is why we decided to leave and go somewhere else. Many other people who are there long term have expressed their desire to leave as well. It's sad that the Company has been so blinded by greed that they think they can treat people badly and we are just going to take it. I still will use my membership but have to face facts that this Company doesn't give a rip about people it only cares about making a profit. They said it's a high use park and they can get more money based on supply and demand. I went by to visit my friends I had made at the park and my old space looks terrible all brown and dead. I would recommend going to another park like French Camp Rv. They have a pool and hotub, 2 dog parks, restaurant, gym and lots of walking trails. The staff is very friendly. read more
