I needed some oleander stumps ground up and these guys did an excellent job! I actually found them on Craigslist, because I was looking for a rando to just come and do it for cheap. They gave me a pretty good quote over text so I went with it and then when they showed up it turned out they were like a legit company. Don't save money to hire this guy, please save your trouble John is EXTREMELY dishonest. He cut my tree & left the BIG HOLE on roof, damaged by a tree branch without notifying & telling us. Luckily our tenants went to work if NOT we don't know what kind of lawsuit we would have. He immediately asked for money same day with outside photos. Stump was grinded very shallow to get money same day and run. Later young shoots were growing again from stump. Highly...highly recommend their services!!! I called Mercado Tree Services on a Tuesday with a tree that was breaking off, he asked me to text pictures of the trees I wanted to get cut. He gave me a quote, which I thought was pretty reasonable because one of the trees was massive.They showed up on Sunday morning and by the end of the day everything was taken care of. However, I had big hesitations about cutting down the massive tree because it provides great shade for my house. So John (the owner) talked to me about my options and ways we could save the tree. I was super happy because every other person that came by to give me a quote said the tree needed to go. John and his crew were great! John Mercado - "The Prince of Trees!"- Best Tree Service in San Joaquin County!!! I am the original owner of my property. I planted, pruned and raised my trees since they were little saplings. Unfortunately, now my leg is partially paralyzed and my PCL is completely torn in my knee. I can no longer climb ladders to prune my trees, remove the ton of fruit from the Tangelo tree, deal with the citrus-eating rats that want to leap to my roof to find a new home or continue to battle the wasps that want to live in the Italian Cypress which I ignorantly had planted near my front door. I've tried going up ladders (VERY bad idea w/only one working leg) with chainsaws/hedgers/pruning shearers, asking neighbors/family for help and hiring tree trimming help in Stockton (horrible hack jobs). Last year I hired a professional company who INFECTED all my healthy trees as they didn't clean their equipment between jobs. MERCADO'S Tree Service was the BEST Company I have had for tree help in the 17 years I have lived at my property. John was very professional, kind and considerate. He seems to really appreciate trees and not just want to kill and stump grind everything in his path like other companies. A big, white owl flew out of my Palm tree. He quickly stopped the job and asked the palm trimmer to cut around/leave the owl's nest at my request. He was even interested in learning about the Owl Nesting box program the Port of Stockton has and offered to put an Owl nesting box in my Palm tree for free when he comes back out to trim the Plum tree. I appreciated that John does not seem to take joy in cutting down healthy trees but was very understanding a out the health/safety issues I was facing as a disabled veteran with the ongoing expenses if safely managing my all my trees. John had an entire crew of about 8 guys that came out. Very well organized and experienced crew. They trimmed my 40 foot palm tree, removed the Tangelo, 2 of my 10 Italian cypress, stump-ground all 3 stumps, COMPLETELY cleaned-up my yard (including my front porch for free) in all UNDER 2 hours and less than $500.00!!! John truly is the "PRINCE of TREES" . I will most certainly hire Mercado Tree Service again. I have already started giving referrals. His work on my property is already selling itself. So I found these guys on Craigslist. I texted photos of my four tree stumps I needed grinding and he replied back with a quote. He said he would call back at 3pm to schedule. He never called back. I texted at 7pm to see what was up. He said he would be over the next day to do the job at 3pm. 5pm comes and goes. I text him to see what the deal is. He says he can do tomorrow at 9:30. He shows up a little after 10. Takes a look at my four small stumps and doubles his price. I show him his quote on my phone. He says he has to go do another job. That's it, he left. They are currently cutting down five large palm trees from my house. The guys move FAAAAAAAAAAST. Three trees cut down in less than two hours. Amazing. I would definitely recommend these guys. While they were cutting the tree down in my front yard, someone came by to ask for a business card. I guess she liked what she saw. I am not sure about the reviewer down below. but they were on time, the got the work done, and they were pretty friendly. John and two of his guys came and removed a pine tree from my front yard, upon agreeing on a price, he said he could haul the limbs and smaller tree trimmings away, but the larger pieces of wood would need to be left behind. Which wasn't a problem and I was ok with. Well today (9/04/14) the City of Sacramento called me in regards to multiple reports of illegal dumping that had taken place around the corner from my house. Come to find out...they drove around the corner and ILLEGALLY DUMPED all the tree trimmings from my pine tree. I am now being fined by the City for illegal dumping. I called John and asked him where the tree trimmings were dumped at and he claims South Sacramento. When I told him why I asked, he denied (surprise, surprise) dumping it in the field and basically told me there was no proof he did it. Little does he know, there are MULTIPLE neighbors on my street that called and reported the illegal dumping, as well as gave the business name and contact information off the side of his trailer. I needed 5 giant Italian cypresses removed and Mercado's beat 5 other companies quotes by up to triple the price. They came out 10 mins before scheduled, the workers that I met where very kind. They started promptly, kept me in the loop on what's going on and did a great job. They cleaned up all the mess and more, they even cleaned the front of my neighbors house. After they left you couldn't even tell that 5 giant cypresses was cut down and chopped up in front of my house. Mercado Tree Service did a mediocre trimming job on my large oak tree but failed miserably on the majority of other trees they trimmed on my property, leaving them looking butchered and hacked up. In addition to the poor trimming job, their clean-up effort was horrible with lots of twigs and even some large pieces of the branches left behind. The icing on the cake was that they filled up both of my green waste containers with their trimmings without my consent - when I confronted the foreman about this, he made a lame excuse about their truck was full. I also found out later that they had used my neighbors green waste container as well. Needless to say, I will not be calling them back in the future when I need my trees trimmed. read more

Mercado Tree service just finished grinding five tree stumps from my back yard and they are now cleaning up the backyard for any mess that remained. They did great work, they are cleaning up and I never could have done the job myself. Sometimes in life it is much better to just pay up and not try to hassle with a job that is too large to attempt. Owing that there are always 2 sides to every story, I read the reviews and decided to an agreement with John to trim to huge trees and remove 7 other trees. He offered a fair price and could start in a couple of days. His crews worked hard and were polite and cleaned up each day. I was out of town on the last day of work and I had agreed to pay him upon my return. When I arrived home, a gentleman walked up to me and said that my trees were on his property (about 300 yds away). Furthermore, they broke onto his property (secured by a chain link fence and lock), damaging the gate in the process. He had photos. Additionally, there were witnesses who watched his crew dump the waste. I went to the property site with the owner and I was shocked. The gate post had been bent over and the vehicle paint from the truck all over it. It appeared they had rammed it with their truck. There were at least 4-6 huge loads of tree branches dumped in the back of the property. So not only did they commit trespassing, but vandalism and illegal dumping as well. The property owner came over to confront John the next day. At first he denied it saying he saw the dump receipts from his crew lead. We all went to the property in question and he first denied it was his crew and became defensive, rude and fowl mouthed. He offered to fix the gate and remove the tree waste, but the property owner didn't want him on the property again. Besides, no telling where he would dump the waste next. As I still had not paid John, I told him I would not not pay him until this matter was resolved to the owners satisfaction. The owner sent me an invoice in excess of the amount I agreed to pay John. John still expects payment in full and continues his rude rants and threats. They did the job they committed to and I have no complaint about that. John's handling of the situation was inappropriate and he was caught cold. Had he initially addressed the situation in a more professional manner, this may have turned out better for him. read more

This business is Awesome! Called several tree companies for a huge pine tree and a heavy branch that had fallen on the roof. Mercado immediately answered the phone and asked me to send pictures. Within 5 minutes I had a quote and the price was right. Other companies never even called back, but Mercado came out the next day as promised, even though it was raining heavily! I then found out from someone I recommended him to that he was at their job instead.
