This place was really good l, the menudo was delicious and I like that you have the option to put hominy or not. They also have bread or tortilla. Restrooms were very clean and so was the restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive Would definitely be back. Lots of parking and a pretty big dining area. Don't let the outside scare you. This place is great

Food was top notch, service was 8/10 waiter didn't come by as often as I'd like for a party of 6, ambiance is cool - looks like an old hotel so vintage....ish. Fat phuck stamp of approval.

Wanted some menudo so I had to come to south Phoenix to get the good stuff. This place was packed with all Hispanic people - I knew I found a gem. They had a 30 minute wait - but thankfully I was a single person so they put me at the bar. I got super quick service with Chips and salsa. Salsa wasn't for but still good. The menudo was good and spicy and didn't taste oily. They have chile so you can make it spicer.

Customer service was good. They were attentive making sure everything was well. I'm picky when it comes to menudo. The menudo had a slight odor to it. It had an okay flavor it was missing something to it but couldn't figure out what. Lastly, location was a little sketchy.

Someone had recommended this spot for really amazing and authentic Mexican food. We went for "brunch" on a Sunday and arrived around 10:45, there was a wait but they didn't tell us how long, just how many folks were ahead. They call you by name (put your name down on a yellow note pad), but I guess you could call ahead and put your name down (**pro tip!). We sat waiting (plenty of chairs for folks to sit) for about 25 minutes and when we were called, we got sat in a big round booth (went with my love and a couple friends). Two of us got the chilaquiles, had some huevos a la Mexicana, and menudo. Boy oh boy was the menudo GOOD. It's served red and comes with the fixings, they will also bring you chiltepin if you ask for it (which we absolutely did). The green chilaquiles are a delicious sauce, and the red chilaquiles you can pick your spice level! We opted for a level 3 and it wasn't bad at all. The chips and salsa (comes when you sit), the salsa was mild and watery but had decent flavor. The food is where it's at though. You can get Coca Cola in a glass bottle (we all got one) and the coffee they serve is instant and they just pour it for you and let you mix it (or so they described, we didn't get coffee after all but we inquired about it). It was semi loud but everyone is so attentive and there is music playing but not super loud. The menu is great, lots of true Mexican staples and it is absolutely authentic. I'll be coming back.

Amazing service and food. You will never go wrong with visiting this Menuderia and chowing down on anything on the menu. This is a mom & pop shop, I have tried most of the main dishes on the menu, and the food here is outstanding. Bang for the buck you cannot go wrong with this Menuderia. Only warning is please do not show up on Tuesday's because I believe they are closed on Tuesdays. I showed up on a Tuesday and left with an empty belly, understandably so. Jordan

Don't let this the place or the surrounding building's wing you away.. I was pretty hungover this morning. Happy New YeA night out at the Cobra Arcade in Phoenix with the New Year coming in and some drinking..and when you wake up crudo. And have to Uber yourself to get your car in Phoenix..smh Well, this is how I found this gem! Very relaxing atmosphere. Great customer service! The menudo!!! Delicious. And you have your choice of tortillas or a piece of pan(bread). Easy parking. Keep up the great work! Great establishment! I will return..

If you are looking for an authentic experience, this is your place!!!! From the ambience to the amazing homemade tasting food. I ordered a menudo as well as a red sauce taco. The menudo was served with warm buttered bread and handmade corn tortillas. The taco was served with handmade flour tortilla. I literally felt like I was in Mexico. The pricing is just right for the quantity and quality.

First the good I had the menudo large portion. I enjoyed it was flavorful but a bit to seasoned, which made it a bit strong tasting. My wife had the red chilaquiles with steak n eggs. She enjoyed the steak n eggs but the chilaquiles were way too spicy. Next not bad but a suggestion. The place needs a bit of cleaning and maybe give the dining room needs to be updated. Feels old and musty.

We visited this location this morning, looking for something new to try out. At first we were reluctant to go in as it is located next to a sketchy-looking abandoned hotel. However, once you go in, it is a cozy Mexican ambience. I ordered the large menudo with maíz, and my wife ordered the green chilaquiles. The taste was good but not great. However, the portions are fantastic! Enormous! I only finished half of the menudo bowl and my wife half of her plate. So two people can easily share a plate. The waitresses were quick and friendly, and this was an overall good experience.

So you come in the side door to the dining room . Wait staff all greet you and guide you to the dining room, festooned with roses and talavera tiles. It's not kitschy, just gorgeous. The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

Also bring a group. The portions are huge and the food is clearly meant to be shared. Trust me on this one, bring friends. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, and there are a few I always go back to. For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
