Someone had recommended this spot for really amazing and authentic Mexican food. We went for "brunch" on a Sunday and arrived around 10:45, there was a wait but they didn't tell us how long, just how many folks were ahead. They call you by name (put your name down on a yellow note pad), but I guess you could call ahead and put your name down (**pro tip!). We sat waiting (plenty of chairs for folks to sit) for about 25 minutes and when we were called, we got sat in a big round booth (went with my love and a couple friends). Two of us got the chilaquiles, had some huevos a la Mexicana, and menudo. Boy oh boy was the menudo GOOD. It's served red and comes with the fixings, they will also bring you chiltepin if you ask for it (which we absolutely did). The green chilaquiles are a delicious sauce, and the red chilaquiles you can pick your spice level! We opted for a level 3 and it wasn't bad at all. The chips and salsa (comes when you sit), the salsa was mild and watery but had decent flavor. The food is where it's at though. You can get Coca Cola in a glass bottle (we all got one) and the coffee they serve is instant and they just pour it for you and let you mix it (or so they described, we didn't get coffee after all but we inquired about it). It was semi loud but everyone is so attentive and there is music playing but not super loud. The menu is great, lots of true Mexican staples and it is absolutely authentic. We were in town for a wedding and we were looking for a good place with some good menudo. Right on target! The staff was friendly and we were seated right away. The place was busy (a testament to good food) but their service was fast and friendly. Menudo was delicious with all the fixings. I love that they offer different size servings of menudo. We had the small plates and they were perfect! We also ordered their chicharrones plate. It was delicious too but not spicy (which we were told in advance when we asked if it was spicy). First the good I had the menudo large portion. I enjoyed it was flavorful but a bit to seasoned, which made it a bit strong tasting. My wife had the red chilaquiles with steak n eggs. We visited this location this morning, looking for something new to try out. At first we were reluctant to go in as it is located next to a sketchy-looking abandoned hotel. However, once you go in, it is a cozy Mexican ambience. I ordered the large menudo with maíz, and my wife ordered the green chilaquiles. The taste was good but not great. Since we have gotten older, we limit our intake of menudo to 1 or 2 times a year but always have it on New Year's Day. My mom used to make it for us once a year on this day until she passed away. That being said, we really look forward to having it. We'll, this place did not disappoint. The menudo was so tasty. They clean the menudo very well because it wasn't greasy or over whelming. Finally a Mexican restaurant serving up authentic Mexican food with flavor. I knew soon after we walked in the door and saw the long waiting line, I hit the jackpot. Not only that, but there were nothing but Latino/a clientele. A sure sign my search was over! We only waited about a half hour before we were seated. Our female server started speaking to me in Spanish, probably because of my brown skin. Lol! But that tells you right there the vast majority of clientele that frequents the restaurant are Spanish speaking. Anyway, I knew immediately what I wanted before we arrived and that was a nice bowl of menudo rojo. My wife ordered Chile relleno. Of course they brought chips & salsa. The salsa was housemade and pretty good. The food was brought out quickly and I'm glad cilantro was brought out for the menudo. Usually I have to ask for it. The tripe was tender and I could have used more hominy. The broth was light and not greasy, but it could've used more flavor, perhaps with beef, chicken, or pork bouillon. I added salt. My wife said her Chile Relleno was the best she ever had. Even better than her favorite place we discovered in Yuma last year. This is now my favorite Mexican place in Arizona. The food here was great. This is a local family owned restaurant. I went there with a supplier to my company. It is in an industrial area and is definitely a hole in the wall sort of find. I had the chilaquiles verde with eggs and meat. The eggs and meat were options with slight upcharge. The meal was tasty. The steak was a thin steak but is was tender. Over easy eggs were just right. I also order a Agua de Piña to drink. It was fresh and tasty. Portions were ample. My meal was $16.50 (including the upcharge for eggs and meat), the drink was $4. The food was good I tend to get huevos rancheros at a lot of Mexican places because I love it but I feel like the eggs had no flavor the beans and rice were better than the actual huevos rancheros however I did have them substitute the cicerones sauce for pico de gallo which was actually pretty spicy.
