They're not really convenient they close early on Saturday and I don't believe they're open on Sunday. However everyone there knows where everything is, they have helpful hints and suggestions, and they're willing to negotiate sometimes even cut you a deal. Now places like Lowes and Home Depot also have a place but if you need something quick without going into a monster store without waiting in line and even when I hear the cashier make a joker too, Crile Road hardware is where you want to be

I had always wondered why the parking lot was always empty and after my first and final visit, I know why! I was met by a very short, older man who had a very bad attitude. I told him that I needed a piece of glass cut for my picture frame and he sort of grunted and extended his hand towards the frame, so I handed it to him. He proceeded to grab it by one corner while dragging the opposite corner on the floor. I immediately asked him: "PLEASE, do not drag my frame on the floor, it is for a customer of mine" to which he gave me a sideways look and stormed off towards the back of the store. I followed him and took a few steps back into the room that he took my frame, just far enough to peek around the corner and see him toss the frame onto the workbench without taking any precautions to protect it. He looked at me and told me to leave the area and I did. After about 15 minutes, he brings the frame out with no glass in it, stating that he was unable to cut a piece of glass to the dimensions of the frame and he told me what he got when he measured it and those measurements were nowhere close to the required dimensions. Afterall, I know what the dimensions are since I BUILT THAT FRAME! While I was waiting, there was a pregnant girl spreading epoxy onto an old dirty tree stump. I am not sure about who manages that place but to allow a pregnant person to handle and breathe in those chemicals, is totally and completely irresponsible. I ended up taking my frame to Joughins hardware on State St. in Painesville and they actually knew how to cut a piece of glass, unlike the "little person" that didn't know how to, at Crile hardware, it fit perfectly and it was cut from a standard sheet of double strength glass. If you want a professional and knowledgeable staff to deal with in the hardware business, go to Joughins and don't waste your time at Crile road. After repairing the damage done to the frame that was caused by the "little person" at Crile road, I finally delivered the frame to my customer and he was very happy.

Apparently I HAVE to pick a rating, a one star is NOT my choice, Zero or less!…read moreThrough my company, A to Z Contractors LLC I have worked with the Home Depot for many years and have generally felt good about the service I've received. That is until my last kitchen cabinet order. When ordering $14,000+ of cabinets, the sales person mentioned that I would receive a discount on the counter if I ordered the top with the cabinets. That, as it turned out, was a very BIG MISTAKE! After receiving the cabinets two were damaged. After a few delays, I received the replacement cabinets, installed them and contacted the counter fabrication company referred by the Home Depot. It took almost 4 weeks to get them to measure the counter tops. The fabrication was to take 4-5 weeks. Here we are three months later and still no counter top. (Actually 14 weeks plus the 4 week measurement delay!) After about 8 weeks, I contacted my sales representative and she assured me that she would contact the installer and someone would contact me. NO CONTACT WITH ME OR MY COMPANY WAS MADE. Through numerous times that I was in the store, the sales associate assured me every time that she was in contact with the store manager who had contacted the regional manager and was in contact with the fabricator. Still no contact or communication from the fabricator or explanation from the Home Depot. Although the sales person has been sympathetic and has appeared to continue contacting the counter fabricator, I'm not sure what was done as resolution. Today I met with another sales associate and was going to cancel the top WHICH BECAUSE OF MY DISCOUNT, THAT WAS PASSED ON TO MY CUSTOMER I will now lose money by making up the difference in discounted cost as well as the increase in square foot costs. The salesman referred me to the store manager. Speaking with the store manager, who wanted NO PART OF MY "ATTITUDE" and was going to walk away from me as I went through the details of my fiasco, I was told that he was never informed about the delays or the details of this months long fiasco. Furthermore he informed me that no one had contacted anyone in authority (I.E. a regional manager) to resolve this problem. WHAT!!!!!!!!! Who's lying about the people contacted, the sales person or the manager? I'm not sure who to believe. Now I've lost future work with the customer who has cancelled ALL FUTURE AND RELATED PROJECTS which were originally scheduled in succession with the kitchen. I've lost money in replacement of the top which was ordered as a package, not to mention the referrals for future work which will not happen as well as my reputation as an on time and top quality construction company. Currently I am waiting on that store manager to contact me with some sort of resolution which he now says will be Sunday. We'll see if anyone contacts me. My advice is to NEVER ALLOW THE HOME DEPOT TO TALK YOU INTO A MULTIPLE ORDER OF COUNTER TOP AND CABINETS. ALWAYS FOLLOW THROUGH WITH SPEAKING TO SOMEONE OF AUTHORITY NOT JUST A SALES PERSON AND PUSH FOR RESPONSE. I give this experience at the Chardon Home Depot a ZERO star rating and the manager with the attitude who couldn't take my "attitude" even less. Steve/A to Z Contractors LLC
