Worst place ever as a barbershop! I have been to a few, the barber said to come back at 2 PM ((It is 11am) here I sit in my car angry and disgusted on a wet Tuesday morning and there are zcustomer zero waiting, customer just exited yet there is a walk-in welcome walk-ins are welcome on the door they will not have my patronage. The bearded barber, so you can recognize him, just after writing this review has the nerve to come to my car and tell me he had a cancellation if I wanted to get my hair cut! First time thinking about visiting. Called in to see whether I need to book an appointment and were told that cost with appointment is $40 and cost for walk in is $23. And the reason why appointment cost almost twice is because this is the price for customer convenience. RIDICULES. I have never heard of such stupidity. Appointments, if anything, should be a convenience for the business as they can better manage their schedule to better their customer service in turns increase customer and revenue, not the other way around. But listen to this, he then said that if I were to walk in, there's an hour and 30 minutes wait, hence, paid double and you don't have to wait. That's when I figured the theory behind it all. Since most customer would likely wants to come in on the weekends, like myself today. For those who doesn't want to wait, pay double and they'll basically let you skip the line. That's a stupid way to run business either way. Here's my two cents, of your business is too busy on the weekends, raise the price for the weekend and call it sales on weekdays as to spread out the customers. Don't raise the price for customers to wants to make an appointment and then skip them to the front of the line and further delay those who's been waiting even longer. I sure hope the ones who wait don't find out that those who paid double get to skip them or there won't be many left to wait soon enough. Anyhow, due to this stupidity, I'm opting out to not even attempt to give this business a try. I'm sure with some of the good ratings, someone in there knows a little about cutting hair, but they sure as hell don't know how to run a business. read more

Way over prized for the type of customer service you receive. Walked in there with my 2 kids thinking it was going to be a pleasant experiencing judging from the looks of the place very clean and modern. One if the barbers kept telling my youngest son to keep his feet off the chair when my kid was only sitting Indian style on the chair playing on his iPad. The whole time there the barbers made me feel uncomfortable giving me a vibe like I didn't belong there. I was about to walk out a couple times but I really needed a hair cut since I was attending a wedding that evening and didn't have much time left. My honest opinion is this. I called the night before to see about appointments, a haircut is more if you make an appointment but after my experience it may be the right way to go if you're on a tight schedule. I arrived 10 minutes early and waited for the doors to open. Once 8 hit I walked to the door and 2 people walked in before I did. I was told there was an hour and a half wait! I was third to walk through the door and had an hour and a half wait. Now I see why an appointment is more expensive. It gets you in and out without waiting. The barber was friendly and knew what he was doing. It's close to my house and that will come in handy when I need a out of the blue haircut. Give it a try but make sure you're the first once they open the doors or make an appointment. read more

Apparently walk ins are NOT allowed here or either not explicitly put on any other their marketing. Walked in and only two customers were inside. I have locs and only need an edge up which should take at the most twenty minutes. Two barbers inside and two clients. Apparently no one could work me in until after 2pm. As a first time visitor I'm disgusted with the way that was handled. How can you grow clientele off of this process. As a wife no one wants to travel with their husband to the barbershop. However, when you're trying to get a date night in before he leaves out of town one might have to sit in the barbershop with their husband so they can go on a date right after. Furthermore, Ladies take your MAN to Mentality Barbershop. This is the NICEST barbershop in Texas, where the owner treats everyone like family , Very professional, Very Time conscious with his appointments, Very nice inviting atmosphere. The owner always has an ice cold beverage, snacks, and candy available. When it comes to impeccable service you can't put a price on that. I truly appreciate someone who puts a valiant effort on service and business. You don't find that every day. Being able to book an appointment is something that saves one of the most valuable commodities in life (time). If you can go to a barber shop on a Saturday and be the first person to get a hair cut without an appointment then your hair cut won't be of substantial quality. read more

He gave me one of the best (if not the best) haircuts I have ever received. Shop is designed in a different way from other barber shops which lets the barber interact with his guests rather than putting them in the front of the shop. It is a really cool concept. When I moved to Houston 6yrs ago I was looking for a barbershop and I was referred to the owner Anthony by a family member. From that first day until now it has been the best haircut and service I've ever had. Anthony is a very professional but no nonsense person. When you come to his establishment everyone is treated the same and the atmosphere is one in which you can have your wife and kids in because he doesn't allow anything but respect in his environment. People may feel prices are a little high but that's not for just haircuts what you are paying for your is environment, security and convenience. In almost anything you do in life you pay a little more for convenience when you don't want to wait. But with Anthony it doesn't matter if you are on appointment or walk in he is going to give you the same top notch service, you may wait longer but it will be well worth it read more

I absolutely love this place. I always leave with a GREAT haircut. It doesn't feel like the usual barber shop but a men's salon. It is decorated amazingly. Very spacious. Great service. I think the price is worth paying for the quality and experience. I give 5 stars, however my only critique is if you don't have an appointment then you can wait awhile. There are currently only two barbers working. This is okay though, because it's better to have quality than quantity. 5 stars for the best barbershop I've ever been too for sure! read more

On 9/24/15 I took my 3yr old son to Mentality barbers Lounge for a haircut because it is less than 5 miles from my home and I thought it would be nice to give them a try. The place is nice and clean, and my sons haircut was ok, but I was charged $18 for a 3yr old haircut and that left a sour taste in my mouth.. Where to start? This was the worst experience at a barber shop in my life. First I waited about an hour for my hair cut, there was 2 people... 2!! While waiting the tv volume was extremely loud, Anthony the owner and guy doing my hair was using foul language the whole time. Very unprofessional, when I told him what I wanted he looked confused like he'd never heard of it before, it was a basic fade.. Isn't this a barber shop? He mentioned he's done this for 23 years? Seemed like a 8 yr old. Missed tons of spots in the back, super uneven along with never asking about my sideburns so he just shaved them off, Anthony was very forceful giving me a head ache, mid way through the cut he goes outside to meet his buddy to do what seemed to be a drug deal.. No wonder the service was terrible. End of story very over priced!! I will NEVER return. Save your time and money and go to any other barber shop. You're guaranteed to get better service at an affordable price without wasting so much time. I don't see Anthony and Mentality barber being in business much longer. read more

It's amazing to me how people can be so critical--especially when in many instances their lives are " tore up from the floor up". I met Anthony about ten years, and for as long as I can remember he has talked about being a business owner. Just--- in reading some of the comments posted I can truly say that I have not experienced any of this. I am at Mentality Barber Lounge quite frequently and would think that I would have seen what these "naysayers" are saying they have encountered. My experiences have been nothing but positive ones. I am "old school" and customer service is very important to me. The shop is clean, the atmosphere is good and the location is great. Not only does Anthony cut my hair he cuts my son and my 80 year old mothers hair. Mentality Barber Shop is the epitome of what a barbershop should be and I appreciate the service and professionalism I receive when I am there.
