My boyfriend found out he had a med school interview two days before it was to occur. A last minute cancellation proved to be his opportunity. Except he didn't own a suit. Just a lame sport coat that he had been toting around since high school. Not acceptable. In a panic and on a budget we were both freaking out. Thankfully the good folks at Men's Wearhouse were there to save our day. The store is confusing to me because I don't ever shop suits. Confusing to my boyfriend as well because it doesn't sell scrubs. We walked in and explained our situation and time crunch to April. She calmed us down and told us she could do it. Unbelievable she did. Working with my boyfriend's small stature proved a challenge. April walked us through different suits and styles for forty five minutes before we found something both in our price range and his size. After trying on the suit April sent the tailor in and was able to alter the pants and jacket in thirty minutes! While we waited she showed us a multitude of ways to make his suit function. Purple shirt and paisley tie for dinners, white shirts with colorful ties for spice, and ties with different patterns and colors to change the look of the shirt we already had. She even explained how in suit etiquette the color of your socks should be an extension of your suit. We left in a little more than an hour with a suit that fit perfectly and money still in the bank. I can not express enough how helpful the service was at this store. If you ever have a suit emergency, call April at Men's Wearhouse to fix it. You will not be disappointed.

Full of color and fun wallpapers that make the shopping experience fun. The store is sorted mostly by size ranging 14-30+ with the majority of items being towards the middle of that range. There is a separate rack for lingerie/swimsuits/longer items. The majority of clothes on the racks were in season, and they mentioned that the store would be transitioning to fall soon. The fitting room is HUGE! There is plenty of room to try things on, a large mirror to view all the angles, and a fan (hooray)! The star of the shower is truly Angelina! She is not only passionate about her store but passionate about making sure you find something that suits you! She has such a bubbly personality and is so welcoming from the second you enter the store! She also hosts events, so be sure to check her social media for details! I would definitely encourage you to stop in and take a look around!

It's easy to get to, has an amazingly fun shopping atmosphere, and really feels like the owners behind the place really understand some of the frustrations plus-size people have had with clothes shopping - and tried to mitigate it as best as possible. Honestly, it's really fun to shop here! STUFF TO NOTE: -There's a parking lot right behind Plus Size Pretty. There's also free street parking on both sides of the street. Depending on how busy Broad is, you're looking at less than a block's walk. Tons of space when I parked on a Saturday. -The door to Plus Size Pretty is actually on the side of the building. It looks more like an employee entrance than the front door, so you might be confused at first. Look for the door labeled with their street number 924. -There are multiple chairs inside for easy seating. There are chairs inside with and without arms, and most of them look pretty sturdy. -If I remember correctly there are a few (just one or two!) into the store itself. Everything is flat, one-level once inside. -As far as I could tell, the store carries size 14-30+. The "+" is included, and they do have a section that's small, but there, for sizes over 30. The 14-16 section is probably the smallest. PROS -This place is so PRETTY. Easily one of the cutest clothing boutiques I've been in. It feels bright, welcoming, fun, and colorful. From the bold color choices to the pretty wallpapers and carpets and jewel-toned furniture, shopping here feels like a treat. -The dressing room is gigantic! Like, it's easily 6-8 times bigger than my bathroom at home. It's probably the size of my second bedroom. Tons and tons of space to try on clothing without ever feeling cramped. There are giant mirrors to see how things fit as well as a fan installed on the ceiling for staying comfortable. There are even feather boas in the corner that really make it feel like you're supposed to really be enjoying the experience. (Large, supportive couch and chairs in there too for getting into complicated clothing!) -All the clothing is sorted by size. This makes it really easy to stick with your size. Everything is really well organized and in its place too. I didn't see anything in the wrong areas. -All the clothing is pretty in-season. It's March, and there are no coats and sweaters out. Just like a standard clothing retailer, they've swapped over to lighter fabrics and swimsuits. There's a small section for formal outfits too, and I picked up a beautiful red evening gown for dirt cheap. (Okay, no real events to go to anytime soon, but when you find something that makes you feel like a million bucks and costs virtually nothing, you buy that!) -They also sell shoes (wide widths!), jewelry, tights, and more. You can get your accessories here alongside some new outfits. -The staff member here was sooooo helpful when I came out of the dressing room looking for opinions. They had so many compliments for me, and we talked about my body (and how it fit in the clothing) in non-destructive terms. Clearly, they were quite used to a lot of it, but it was really refreshing to not have someone comment on cellulite or shapewear. CONS: -I'd love to see more selection. That's, honestly, about it. However, the selection they DO have is in-season, current styles, and in good shape. I'd much rather see a slimmer selection that's great (which it is here!) than weed through a larger selection that's worse.

I wrote to ART square before I hit the road last week and asked if they could help a traveling musician passing through (who didn't have much time in any one place). I got a warm reply, so I went by the shop in between obligations for the filk fest. As I began to describe to Sayah what I needed, I noticed that he had a oud (one of the most beautiful and expressive instruments I'm familiar with) leaning against the wall, and I exclaimed, "You have an oud!" Then I noticed he actually had two. His eyes lit up, and to make a long story short, not only did he do a beautiful job on my shirt, but we also got to jam out together! How often does a traveling musician get to have that little unexpected slice of awesomeness? Sayah and his wife Rania are from Syria, and even though I offered to learn a Syrian tune, he said, "No, I want to learn one of yours!" So I sent him a link to my song "Exodus," and he also added a beautiful texture to a Scottish song that I just threw at him with no preparation. We had an absolute ball. Sayah normally has a two-week waiting period, but he made an exception for me, which I was not expecting. He invited me to come back and play anytime I'm in the area. My deepest gratitude to him and Rania. Shukran, my new friends! PS. No need for alarm. The giant scissors didn't cut into my head.

A few years ago, I took a wool sweater here that had rivets along the neckline. Upon picking up the item, I contacted Rockwood to let them know that many of the rivets were missing. They found the rivets in their machine, requested I bring the item back & they'd repair it. All worked out well, other than I had to drive back and forth from Dublin. The least they could've done was refund the dry-cleaning expense for this garment due to the inconvenience. I gave them another shot this past fall with 2 wool blankets from Pendleton. Unfortunately, the leather Pendleton patch on one of the blankets was completely damaged after taking it to Rockwood. When I notified them, I was told that it was likely a Pendleton quality issue as they clean many wool blankets from that brand & have never had an issue. I was also told that the cleaner responsible for this particular blanket would have brought the damage to management's attention. Ultimately, I was told to reach out to Pendleton and see if they could send me a replacement patch (which the company does not do, understandably so.) Long story, short - I was disappointed by the lack of accountability from this business. Mistakes happen, but I've learned my lesson here. I've since found an alternate dry cleaner to use.
