Years ago, Romanoffs was located in downtown Columbus. Now at this more recent location on Sawmill Road it's still serves the Columbus area with a high disagree of distinction. Custom fitted men's formal wear is the main order of the day at this retailer. And they do an excellent job fitting. Items are available for purchase as well as rental. Recently a group of my colleagues and I needed specialized formal wear with tails, known as morning coats, for purchase. while online options are of course available, it is easier to get a quality custom fit in person. And this is the place that was recommended to us. I couldn't have been happier. Within the past couple of years, I also purchased a formal white dinner jacket from Romanoffs, and I have been very pleased with that selection too. Fittings are normally by appointment, and there is of course some turnaround time to prepare alterations, once fitted. It is important to think about and build this into your event schedule if you are purchasing or renting something for an event. He made sure to match our bridesmaid dresses with the grooms ties (I sent a swatch and he ordered accordingly), he offered advice concerning going navy over slate (I'm happy we did!). I made the mistake of renting from an online service, which messed up my order and wasn't able to send me the right pants it in time. Flustered and anxious, I visited Aaron, he matched the fabric I needed, and the pants fit perfectly on the first try. He was calm, cool and collected, even though I was losing my mind. Had exactly what we were looking for (classic, simple, slim tuxedo) which was surprisingly hard to find. Had no issues with pick up or drop off. They let us borrow a pocket square to match with our florist. Had an excellent experience! This was an awful experience. The men and boys went three times for sizing, picked everything up the day before the wedding and on the day of the wedding when they went to put on their tux's it was a mess, nothing fit, and wrong size shoes. I do not understand how this happened with so many appointments to make sure this was prevented! Along with that, it was difficult to try to get anyone to answer the phones and when you did show up for the appointments you still had to wait and then you were treated as if you were an inconvenience. read more

The good: my wife and I had booked an appointment at Men's Warehouse and walked out after being ignored for 10 minutes, we went to Jos A Bank at Easton and were told they don't do rentals but their Polaris Location did. We left, got online to check their hours only to find that that location is permanently closed. At that point we were stressing because we knew time was running out to make arrangements for suits before our wedding a couple months later. We were referred to Romanoff's by a friend. We called and Aaron got us in two days laters. He was friendly and professional. Laid out exactly what we needed to communicate to my groomsmen. He made the process extremely simple. One of my groomsmen was from out of state and was not able to make it in for his final fitting. Aaron sent an extra shirt and suspenders just in case there were any sizing discrepancies. Very thoughtful. The bad: the quality of the rentals was less than great. My suit jacket had a noticeable white stain (don't really want to know what it was) on the left side. We were able to get most of it off but I don't think it should've been there to begin with. My shirt either shrunk, my neck circumference expanded significantly, or it was a different shirt because I went from being able to button the top button with ease during my final fitting two days before the wedding to having it choke me throughout the ceremony. One of my groomsmen had a brown stain on the upper chest portion of his shirt. Another groomsmen texted me after his final fitting saying that his sleeves barely came halfway down his forearms but that Aaron said he would fix that... they were like that the day of the wedding. Another groomsman's pants did not have belt loops. The shoes were not in the best shape. Mine specifically looked like someone walked across the country in them. Had I known that the shoes looked the way they did I would've asked my groomsmen to purchase their own shoes. Conclusion: This was a tough review to write as I understand how important reviews are for small businesses. When I addressed the concerns with Aaron he apologized but I also felt as if he questioned my concerns. I had my myself, 12 groomsmen, and the father of the bride rent from him and I feel that with how much money we invested into his business we did not receive the quality we expected, especially considering suit rental is what they do. I'm all for second chances but there's not really a second chance to get it right when it comes to weddings. I'm not saying not to use this business, but I would examine your order more in-depth before you leave the store with it to make sure it meets your expectations. read more

Not a fan. The men rented their tuxes here for sister's recent wedding. There were things wrong with my husband's tux, my father's tux, and my new brother-in-law's tux! Overall, it just wasn't a great experience. The service was so-so and normally my husband feels super sexy in a tux - this one made him feel frumpy. At the downtown location, I paid $165 for my rental that included what I would later discover to be two defective shoes. During dinner at the wedding, the soles completely separated from the rest of the shoes. Keep in mind, this didn't just happen to one of the shoes; it happened to BOTH of them - two minutes apart from each other. I am grateful that the shoes held up during the ceremony and photos. Needless to say, I went to return the tux expecting nothing less than a full refund. Mr. Romanoff scratched his head and handed me a $20 bill. I protested, but he flat-out refused anything more than a $20 refund and didn't so much as acknowledge my horrible experience. "The shoe rental was $20," he said. That was that. Meanwhile, I just spent my brother-in-law's wedding reception and after-party wearing a tuxedo with flip flops. Are you kidding?! read more

Romanoff's Classic Tuxedo of Dublin absolutely wrecked our wedding day. Despite ordering the suits for our wedding 3 months in advance, 3 days prior to the wedding, he had none of the 8 suits we ordered, a fact that Aaron did not tell me when I first arrived 3 days prior to the event to pick up my suit. When other members of the wedding party went for their final fitting, they were fitted with stand in suits, again, with no indication that there was a problem with our order. The day prior to the event one of the members of our wedding party went in to get fitted and recognized the suit he was fitted in was not one of the suits we had ordered. When questioned about it, it was at this point revealed to us that HIS suit had not arrived. He did not volunteer the information that in fact NONE of the suits had arrived, I had to call and press him for this information, the first of many half truths and deceptions we would experience over the next 48 hour nightmare he put myself and everyone involved with our wedding through. We were then told they were supposed to arrive via UPS, but had not yet done so, but were assured this had happened before and that the situation was well within hand and a back up plan would readily be in place if the suits did not arrive. He then told us the suits would arrive later that day and be held at the UPS sort facility, where he would pick them up personally and arrive in his shop early the next morning, the day of our event, to make the necessary alterations. This was cutting it close and myself and my bride were on pins and needles waiting to hear that the suits arrived as planned. We began our wedding day by calling his shop at 9:00 am (they were scheduled to open at 11:00am) to check the status of our suits and make sure we had the proper attire for the evening. There was no answer and our messages were not returned until 11:00 am when he informed us that our suits had not in fact arrived. None of the suits we had ordered and paid for in full were on site. What followed next is a farce of incompetence so beyond the pale, I can still hardly believe it happened. I believe that much of what we were told that day from this point were lies used to cover himself as to not reveal his negligence in the matter. Some of his back-up scenarios included having 8 suits delivered from Youngstown to us. At the time this plan was presented it was almost noon, and Youngstown is a 3 hour drive, never mind the alterations that were necessary to make the suits wearable for our wedding party. I then requested updates from him as he began to search for suits through other means. I did not receive these updates and instead had to again frequently call Aaron to put pressure on him to ensure the situation was resolved in a timely manner. In the meantime, I was able to speak with a representative at Men's Wearhouse who informed me they had 8 suits that would be close enough to matching for our purposes. At this point I spoke with Aaron and essentially told him I had managed to do what he could not, locate 8 suits for our wedding party, and to please meet us at the Men's Wearhouse to resolve the situation. He stated he would call the shop to ensure they had the correct sizes and call me back. He did call the shop and verify that they had the correct sizes, but did not call me back, I had to call the shop myself to verify he had in fact made contact with them. At this point I rounded up my wedding party and took them to the Men's Wearhouse at Lennox to begin this process, as our clock was ticking and there were mere hours before our ceremony. Upon arriving, surprise, he is nowhere to be found, yet again not keeping his word. After another call placed to him he informed me that he had located 8 matching suits elsewhere. I asked if he was on his way to get them and he informed me that no, he was at his shop. Of course he was! Why would there be any sense of urgency to this matter? The continued nonchalant nature of his attitude throughout this crisis was also somewhat baffling. I asked him why on Earth would he not be on his way to get them if he had located suits that would be appropriate for our occasion. He began to back peddle and say he was on his way to get them, at which point the blatant twisting of the truth we had experienced throughout the day became too much to bear and I informed him that he had lost my trust, and that the only suits I had seen thus far were at Men's Wearhouse and that he needed to be there as we had previously discussed. As you can understand, I could no longer trust this man's word, and told him I would meet him at his shop immediately upon his return with the other suits to visually verify he had them in hand myself. I ended up with suits in my hand at about 4:00 on my wedding day. Thankfully we had an evening wedding, otherwise we would have missed it completely. AVOID AT ALL COSTS read more

Bad business!!! I strongly recommend looking elsewhere until changes are made. Aaron seems like a nice guy but is clearly too busy, disorganized, and not concerned enough with fulfilling already sold business. As a result, there were numerous issues with our suits: 1) Shoes were wrong color. 2) Forgot the pocket squares. 3) Forgot to hem 2 of the groomsmen's sleeves. 4) Several groomsmen sleeves were hemmed so poorly that we felt it was necessary to bring thread and needles to the venue as a precaution. 5) The ring bearer's pants were way too short (over an inch of sock was visible) 6) Multiple groomsmen felt their suits were much too tight 7) Both fathers were unhappy with how the pants fit/were hemmed. 8) 1 groomsmen shoes were in horrible condition (heavily worn, huge scuffs/discolorations all over right shoe, missing leather/pleather around heel, broken down heels, etc.) The issues not affected the appearance of the wedding party, but also the overall demeanor of the ring bearer and some of the groomsmen. The ring bearer was extremely self conscious after being made aware of his pants and had to be comforted. 2 of the groomsmen felt they were unable to dance because the suits were so tight they would rip. 1 pair of pants did eventually rip along the rear. Even when complaining to Aaron and seeking a refund for those who originally planned to purchase their suit, Aaron seemed too busy to truly listen and didn't seem concerned enough about our experience. For example, Aaron took multiple phone calls and assisted another customer while we waited for the refunds to be processed. No discount or refund was offered for the rental fees. The only positives I can think of is that Aaron did not hassle us when returning the rental clothes. He also didn't argue when we requested refunds for those who had originally planned to purchase their suits. read more

Aaron at Romanoffs Tuxedo was amazing. He was actually recommended by the manager at Wendy's Bridal just around the corner. He was so sweet and helpful. He was fast and professional. We liked him so much that we sent our parents to him too. He was able to work with 3 out 5 groomsmen from out of town, 2 of which were even out of state. Had a great experience at Romanoff's for my wedding. All the tuxes looked awesome and the service the manager provides (at the Dublin location) was impeccable. Even though the manager (Aaron? he gave me his card but I misplaced it) seems to be the only one working whenever I went there, he had me and all of my groomsmen in and out in a quicker pace then I when I went to men's warehouse and there was only one other guy getting measured for another wedding I attended where I wasn't the one getting married. I plan on recommending Romanoff's for anyone I know needing a place that rents tuxes for sure! read more

This was an all around negative experience. I was in a wedding recently. This business maintains two websites, one of which has incorrect hours. Several groomsmen had to make multiple trips. We kept showing up when this place was closed because of the dual websites. I let, who I presume is the owner, know of this but both websites are still up and running. When I was finally fitted for my suit there was angry, offensive Christian talk radio blaring and pushy religious pamphlets displayed. Cut to two days before the wedding. I go in for my final fitting. I was fit in an incorrect suit because the correct one was not yet in. I was told not to worry and the groom was aware. The groom was not aware. Day before the wedding, stil no suits. Day of the wedding, myself and the rest of the men were in a Mens Warehouse about to buy suits because our suits were STILL missing. Dude running the shop came through at the absolute last minute and had a set of suits. My suit was several sizes too small. The pants were several sizes too big. These were not even the suits picked out by the bride and groom. When I returned my suit I was asked how it fit. I said it was too small. The owner insisted that was the style. I know my measurements and my jacket was about 6 sizes too small. Unacceptable service all around. Do not use this shop if you actually want to look good on your big day. I would give zero stars if possible. read more

I was not sure after reading some bad reviews on yelp about this place, but then I saw many great reviews on Knot.com and Wedding Wire. So I decided to try them since my venue recommended them also. I rented 7 suits for my daughter's wedding from them last month. Aaron was so helpful from the beginning. I was planning the wedding from out of state, so he texted me some pictures of suits. Talk about a life saver! The groom and groomsmen got their tuxes from Romanoff's. Of course the day before the wedding, the groom spilled something on his tux, making it unwearable. I can't speak for anyone else's experiences here, but mine was nothing short of FANTASTIC!! Aaron was spectacular from start to finish. Outstanding customer service and outstanding communication. My wife & I did not have the slightest clue about all the little nuances that go into matching ties/tuxes with flowers and/or accessories my wife wore with her dress. Aaron had everything covered. His knowledge of the wedding industry & product offerings is extremely impressive. He's not afraid to give his opinion, but doesn't push you into anything out of your price range. He made us feel comfortable the whole time and you could tell his goal was to make sure you were beyond satisfied with your experience. We didn't get "The Bag and The Boot" from him. Most importantly, everything went smoothly during the pickup process. There were no issues whatsoever. He helped my groomsmen and I look and feel our best!
