It's been quite awhile since my last stop-in at Long's - I'm talking circa 1999-2000ish; I brought a pair of pants to get tailored into skinny pants. Anywho, this time round, I had a few sentimental men's cotton t-shirts that were huge on me that I wanted taken in.
Downside: $35 per shirt to shorten. Basically, the owner/seamstress lady had to shorten the bottom hem, take in on both sides, and shorten the sleeve length and top seem. The oriental owner gal said one week. I returned in seven days, but she said she hadn't had a chance to start on them and needed another week. I naturally was a bit worried that she was gonna give a half-ass job, and the end product was gonna suck, but it is what it is.
Fast forward one more week, I picked up the t-shirts today, and I'm freaking elated over the good tailoring job the lady did!! Originally the shirts were size 2XL; they needed taken in and shortened quite a bit on the arms, down both sides of the body, and a hefty shortening along the bottom hem. They fit and look FANTASTIC!! She did a wonderful job bringing the sides in (originally, the shirt had NO seams on either side of the shirt!), and she even tailored enough to show the curves of a woman's body. I'm fluffin so happy!!
$70 later, and I couldn't be happier with the end product! Thank goodness the tailoring was so good. read more
